"I am listening," Mauve said, recovering quickly. "What happened?"
She wasn't about to let this subject go. For some reason, she had to know. Perhaps she was just being greedy.
Jael averted his gaze. "I may have confronted him about telling you I would have to get a mate."
"You did?" Mauve inquired. She appeared genuinely shocked.
"Yeah, I don't like the fact that he said that to you. He shouldn't make assumptions on my behalf."
Mauve smiled at him, she couldn't even be mad. "Is that it?" She asked.
"Yeah, but I don't think I said it like that."
She laughed, "As expected."
Mauve could tell that her sickness was taking a toll on Jael. His eyes looked heavy and she could clearly see the sadness in them. She could almost bet he hadn't been getting enough sleep.
