Mauve jerked suddenly at the sound of a knock on the door. She pulled away from Jael, wiping her face. She didn't miss Jael's frown.
"Who is it?" She called out.
"Galath," the voice said. "I see you're awake princess."
"Yeah, come in."
"The vampires said they are ready to leave whenever you are. We have been trying to get you to wake up for more than three hours now. I figured the journey took a toll…"
Galath's words trailed as he noticed Jael's presence. "Who is that?"
Mauve frowned, she had assumed Galath was aware of Jael's presence but by the looks of things, he wasn't.
She adjusted putting more distance between them. "This is Jael, the Vampires' Primus."
Mauve felt his stare but she didn't meet Jael's gaze. She didn't want to, she could tell with the way her skin shivered that unless she was willing to die on the spot, it was best to not look up.
