Mauve blinked, "What?"
"I said, if I said you could go back home, would you?" He asked again.
"I heard you, why would you ask that?"
Mauve turned her head to look at him. Her heart dropped to her stomach a little. She knew he was acting weird recently but not once has she thought about being sent away. Why would he even ask that?
Mauve jerked, turning her head to face the door at the sound of the knock. "Who is there?" She heard herself say, she felt relief at the interruption. For some reason, she didn't think she could stomach his response.
"You are avoiding the question," he said against her back.
"What? No, I am not. I am just concerned…" She let the rest of her words drown out as she fiddled with her fingers.
"Then what is your response, would you leave?"
"I…" Mauve's words died on her lips as the door was immediately thrown open and Mill walked into the room.
