Jael held Mauve's hand as they made their way downstairs for the first meal. He couldn't stop looking at her. Her tiny frame carefully walked down the stairs with her head bent and her other hand gripping the side of her dress.
She glanced in his direction and immediately looked away when she met his eyes. She looked to be in a better mood, earlier he had been a bit concerned.
He knew he would have to take certain steps, he would be lying if he said he couldn't feel her anxiety. There was also the fact that he was worried she would leave.
It wasn't something he was actively conscious about but more often than not he would compare his recollection of the human Kingdom to the vampire Region, they were nothing alike.
They got to the end of the stairs and Mauve tried to pull her hands from his grasp but he wouldn't let her go. She gave up the fight pretty quickly.
"Sire," the guards said, opening the door as they got close enough.
