Jevera stood on the stairs foreshadowing the ballroom. Her eyes scanned the ground floor as she stared at the occupants. Taking her time, she stepped down one step at a time with her chin in the air.
She looked down condescendingly, staring down at everybody who looks in her direction. The ballroom was fuller than she had expected, most vampires have arrived and there were a few unfamiliar faces but most of them were recognizable.
She got to the last step and Erick suddenly appeared by her side. She glared at him, "I don't need an escort."
"I do," he whispered as they walked side by side.
"Go find somebody else to disturb."
"You are the only one I know," he said to her and took a drink out of his wine.
"Isn't that sad?" She mocked.
"Shush! You don't exactly have friends either."
"You'll be surprised," as she spoke she waved and nodded at a few people.
"You're putting up an act."
"Really? Watch this."
