Jace sat there, an ivy drip strapped to him. Malnourished.
I breathed a ragged breath, he was dying but slowly from starving himself, the rooftop was him wanting for it to end faster. I looked at him, there was a time when I thought that the rich had it all, but no one ever truly has it all, do they? We're all hurting and need to know how to handle the pain. I took his cold hand, his tired eyes gave me a faint look, the light in his eyes was not there anymore. He was unrecognisable. I forced a smile, he squeezed my hand weakly. I was tired. He traced his other hand on my cast where I sprained my wrist on the fall, helping Jace, my drawing wrist. I heaved a sigh, the doctor said I'd have pain if I drew for extended hours and I'd probably damage it further. I didn't care, I had worked over these past months to have credits to graduate early to get into an art school in Paris. I was supposed to hear from them a while back already, but it seems that life made me stay to save you.
I'd do it again.
"You art?" he said weakly.
"I was already thinking about quitting." I shake my head.
"No, you weren't." He answers numbly.
I shrug, "I don't regret it." Looking into his eyes.
"I do," Jace whispers coldly.
I lean into him, his faint breaths brushing against my skin I longed for him deeply, and I kissed him. His hands ran through my short curls. Our hearts pumping rhythmically wishing this moment would never end and we could stay in this moment where everything feels right.
Saturday
I decided to sing since I had to broaden my horizons and I once loved singing in front of people. My cast has names written all over it, Jace's name is in the centre, with a heart. He has terrible handwriting, but it makes me happy when I see it. I drew something equally terrible with my left hand, a bird flying away. The show is about to start and I peek behind the curtains, Jace standing with a big smile, looking at his phone.
My phone chimes.
"I'm here love, break a leg (Not literally)" - Jace
I look up at him and I catch him staring at me, my heart skips a beat. I pull a face at him. He then gets distracted by my dad, Emily and my brothers. Including Max. My eyes water, and I run off the stage.
"Lucy!" Gray says as I run past him.
"Max." I hug him.
He gives me a faint smile, "I'm so sorry." He says and I pull him closer.
"Let's just put everything in the past." I pull away.
"Okay." Gray claps, "Let's not miss our first real gig." He says from next to me.
"Okay." I give him a look.
I then ran over to Jace kissed him on the cheek and ran off, feeling a little embarrassed that it was in front of my parents. Who now has both accepted Jace as my partner, I turn back and Jace says something that my dad starts laughing at. Most probably about my clumsiness.
I had jitters, the rest of the band kept on telling me I could do this, "Lucy, you got this." Andrew smiles. I gave him a nod. I took a deep breath and the curtains rolled up, seeing everyone there. Especially Jace gave me confidence. I didn't know what the future held, but I knew I could make it work.
The End
