Chapter 3 - Accord, from God to Lamb

Representing the sin of rebellion: Rebellion

-Accord, from God to Lamb

I think it has been weeks since my 'awakening'.

I think about the dark. Which was the most recurring thing in my new life, the dark.

Haah, how long will this go on?

In this new life, my body has some kind of system that just shuts me down when I reach a certain time limit, seriously, it sucks, but the worst part is that my consciousness is still active in some kind of coma.

In this period of suspension, I can still hear and feel everything around me, which is some kind of sixth sense of this new life. But even that does not allow me to see beyond the walls of this room.

My days have consisted of the following, exploring the room for information, trying to break the wooden door or windows, and sitting contemplating my situation in moments of despondency while singing a little song that comes to mind.

Honestly, this dark sanctuary will never stop being suffocating and intriguing.

On the altar there were scriptures that talked about the resurrection of several Demon Gods who will ascend and dominate the world, talked about a 'plan' in which all the Demon Gods were involved, a horrible plan. There was also some kind of manual about what to do upon awakening, how to use your abilities, special traits, but...

'Nothing! Absolutely nothing explains to me how to get out of this place! Apparently these papers are the weak point of Demon Gods, eh!' I thought mockingly.

Ding!

On top of the altar is a message addressed to me.

"Those who came before you could not embody the darkness. What about you? Dear God, can you purify the world?"

He... As if I could understand something so unconnected! Seriously, if someone wanted me to do something, why not just write it down? Well, anyway, I don't have to follow any of this and neither will I, this purification must not be a good thing, and this 'plan'...

Honestly, I just want distance from it all. I am not reincarnated by choice, nor do I want to suffer a painful death for a struggle that is not even mine. I appreciate the second chance, but I am of the modern age, colonizing planets, creating robots, playing augmented reality games, that's my business, but now... World domination? Purification? Just, why would I do that?

And even now I have changed too much... I don't want to talk about it.

I'm about to wake up again.

Hmm? What's that noise, is someone talking beyond the door?

"-----!"

I can't hear anything.

Then I heard footsteps coming towards the door.

I could feel my heart beating faster, compared to almost half the human heartbeat!

'Are they going to open the door!?' I couldn't help but anticipate.

The talismans were gone and it was as if a weight had been lifted from my shoulders, now, I could feel some of the situation outside.

'Let me see, a crowd, people with candles and people who are opening the door while three wait in front of the door. Is it some kind of ritual?'

Following with the last thought, my anticipation changed to something like... awe? No, I don't think I can feel that anymore, it's more like hostility, a malicious presence hovered beside my lying body and with heavy, dragging steps walked towards the door.

"Hehe, if they want to come in, then we should welcome our guests. But if they are not polite... Tsk." The presence leaned toward the door and pushed it open, along with that, all the candles in the shrine lit up.

And then she was gone, as if she had never been there, but the open door and the lit candles don't lie, it really happened.

Somehow I didn't feel impressed or pressured. I felt satisfied. I knew, I knew from the first moment I saw my status, I am a monster in body, and I will become a monster in soul.

'I thought that voice could only talk, but it seems to have more freedom than I thought, more than me...'

Soon something fell in front of my body, a woman.

And then as the doors closed I could hear someone say something.

"May our God have mercy on you and allow you to have a next life!" It was another woman's voice, full of dignity, she sounded important.

When the door closed, I felt myself starting to wake up.

'How strange, it's earlier today, but anyway, did she call me a god? Well, I am a god, so it's safe to assume that all these people are my servants. But why are they closing the door again with talismans? Don't they know about the 'plan'?"

"But what...?" The woman muttered.

Then I finally woke up and was able to stand up.

"Ah..."

***

When I woke up from my thoughts, the body had already risen.

The figure, besides being thin as a skeleton, looks to be around 12 or 13 years old, its skin is pale as snow with thick veins all over it, its pitch-black hair is so long that it spreads all over the floor, and its face cannot be seen because of the hair. The figure's presence was very faint, like a ghost, but he was covered in mystery.

He was also naked, but who would look at a skinny guy? Not to mention that he looked scary as a demon! I didn't even dare to let my eyes wander!

"Arf... Arf. I-!" My attempt to start a dialogue fails, as if the words are stuck in my throat, everything is silent, only my breathing sounding alone, which makes me hold my breath as I look analytically at the figure.

'Shit, when they took me away, they said they would give Karly a nice life as compensation, but how can I trust you guys! Because of you I am here! Matriarch, I respected you like a mother!' My heart was beating so hard it felt like it might explode at any moment.

The figure tilted her face up which made her black hair reveal her features. Its face was thin like that of someone who had been starved for a long time and there were veins protruding from its chin. His face looked somewhat androgynous but seemed to lean toward the male gender, but then he opened his eyes.

"AHH-!" I didn't have the strength to get up, so I dragged myself up and started walking on all fours like a dog until I got to the door, I have to-

"Ha-! What a heartbreaking scream, so it even sounds like you're about to suffer a fate worse than death." His voice sounded calm on the surface, but it sounded... hollow. I couldn't identify what it was, but there seemed to be something missing, something besides the obvious feeling that his speech was devoid of, it was as if he didn't even bother trying to emulate a feeling, it was as if for him there was no concept of anything even close to humanity.

Soulless.

Empty.

Hearing his voice, my hands that were near the door froze.

"You could try to communicate. How about that? Also, why don't you stand up? You may be my guest, but someone so rude, I may have to make you talk, wouldn't be nice."

"..." I totally froze, honestly, I didn't know how I hadn't fainted yet.

"It could be..." I cringed as much as I could trying to somehow protect myself. "Are you afraid? But you still shouldn't be afraid, isn't that the moment you come forward? You broke into my house after everything, you even made the others seal the door with new talismans. You undid all my hard work."

The mysterious being in front of me, even if completely devoid of humanity, or soul, seemed somehow welcoming, it was as if a strange charisma emanated from him, making me relax.

"W-what are you- I'm sorry! My name is Audrey, breaking into your house was an accident! Please forgive me! Don't hurt me!" Calmer now, I said, all that came to mind so that would let me live. As long as I can see Karly, I am willing even to talk to a demon in the form of a little boy!

He raised an eyebrow as black as ink, just like his hair. "Why, you seem so sincere... Very well then, I'll help you get out of here alive, but... What do you give me in return?

"...I..." Is he really going to let me go...? No! No time to think, listening to him is my only chance! "Anything!"

"Anything is?" He took a step forward, but when my body involuntarily shuddered, he stopped in place.

"Anything... that I can do." I said after thinking it over.

"It's reasonable..." He swayed his body from side to side as he considered something. "All right, I'll help you, but you'll have to listen to everything I say. It will only be reasonable things. Do you agree?"

"Will you help me out?"

"Hmm? Sure, you'll be able to leave." He brought his hand, whose nails were more like the claws of a wild animal, up to his neck, and with one movement, I could hear a brutal snap coming from there. "Haah~" His voice contained no real satisfaction, like a lazy performance.

"And how do I know you won't cheat on me?"

The little boy then tilted his head to the side, so a tuft of hair bounced on top of his head, forming an ahogue. He then tried to emulate a smile on his face, which looked fake and broken.

"..."

"I would never do something like that. You know? Fool someone. You see, I'm honest, I don't know what my current appearance is like, but is that the face of someone dishonest?"

'...' is this a joke? Of course I can't trust you, you look like a demon trying to fool a child with smiles and sweet words! I happen not to be a child, your smile is broken and your words are not even close to sweet!

"I agree, I will do whatever you ask!" I said as I clenched my fists and teeth, I might have recovered a little, but my legs still wouldn't move. I had no choice, did I?

Hearing this, he stopped his 'smile' and returned to his normal posture, but his ahogue still remained.

I couldn't relax around him, but now at least I felt off the hook. But what he did next, I will never forget in my life.

Having made the deal, he unexpectedly opened his eyelids. This revealed an eye with no sclera, no cornea, no iris, nothing. Everything was black, everything except its iris, which was a feline slit, as red as blood.

As he opened his eyes, the being that once had a weak presence was replaced by a being full of dignified presence, it was like facing a dragon, it chose when its fate would be sealed and when its story would have an end.

'A being like this being being found could only result in an epilogue for the other party...'

That was my last thought that crossed my mind.
