Chapter 44 - Chapter 44: Detection Card

Luke did not enter the house immediately. He took out his cell phone to contact Susan and told her the situation at the scene. He was not calling for support but to report.

Assuming that there are really criminals in the house and a gunfight breaks out between the two sides in the house, reporting it in advance will save a lot of unnecessary trouble.

Susan agreed to let him go in and check, and told him to be careful and call for help immediately if anything happened. At the same time, he was recorded as working overtime for the first time.

Luke took out his pistol and said, "Daisy, I'm going to check the house, you wait outside. If you hear gunshots, call 911 and contact Captain Susan." After calling 911, the operator will arrange for surrounding patrol officers to provide support as soon as possible.

Daisy asked with concern, "Will there be any danger?"

"just in case."

Not to mention whether someone really broke in, even if someone really broke in, the other party should have run away long ago and would not have stayed there waiting to be caught.

Luke opened the door, entered the house quietly, and searched the living room, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, study, etc. carefully. He searched the house inside and out, and found no trace of anyone else, so he put the gun away with peace of mind.

Not only was there no sign of other people, the house was also very tidy. Apart from some of the woman's daily belongings, there were no signs of intrusion or rummaging.

"Luke, can I come in?"

"It's safe, come in."

Daisy walked into the living room and asked cautiously, "Did you find any signs of intrusion?"

"No, check the room for any signs of theft, such as valuables or important documents."

"I'll check now." As a lawyer, Daisy is very clear about the current situation. If she can't find any clues of illegal intrusion, then not only will she not be able to file a case, she may even be regarded as a psychopath. Luke can trust her once, twice, but three times?

While Daisy was checking the items in the house, Luke was not idle either. He remembered that there was a "detection card" that he had not used.

This card was obtained by the system lottery when he rescued Daisy last time. He hasn't figured out its specific function yet, but the literal meaning is very suitable for the current situation.

Luke checked the detective system and subconsciously thought of using the 'detection card'. A 3D model appeared in his mind. The structure of the model was similar to Daisy's house. There was a red dot in the front left. Luke walked in the direction of the red dot, which happened to be the location of Daisy's study.

At this time, Daisy was also bending over to check something in the study, her round peach buttocks facing the door. Daisy heard the noise, straightened up and said, "I checked, and there's nothing valuable missing."

Luke turned his eyes away from Daisy and looked at the safe beside her. "Are all the valuables hidden in the safe?"

"Yes."

"Has the safe ever been opened?"

"Impossible. This is the safe I bought for $5,000. It's made of thickened steel plates that are waterproof, fireproof, and pry-proof. It can't be opened without the password."

Luke closed the door and said, "Daisy, close the curtains."

Daisy frowned slightly, "Why?"

"If you were a suspect and found a safe in the owner's house, and the things you wanted to steal might be in the safe, but you couldn't open the safe, what would you do?"

Daisy reacted immediately, her big blue eyes scanning the surroundings, "You mean he installed a camera."

"Has anything been disturbed in the house?"

Daisy observed for a long time and shook her head, "I can't tell."

"Draw the curtains."

Daisy didn't hesitate any longer and closed the curtains with the remote control, and the light in the room suddenly dimmed.

Luke turned on the camera function of his mobile phone and slowly scanned every corner of the room, focusing on checking places where cameras might be hidden, such as sockets, clocks, vases, air-conditioning vents, tissue boxes, lamps, etc. There are many miniature cameras nowadays that are as big as a coin and have a shooting aperture only the size of a pinhole, making them difficult to guard against.

The camera is equipped with infrared sensing function, which will emit infrared fill light in dark environments. The phone scanned the wall lamp and faintly detected a red light.

Luke walked in to take a closer look. The wall lamp was fixed with five screws, and one of the screw holes was missing a screw. The red light came from here.

Daisy came over and asked, "Are you sure there's a camera in here?"

"I'm not an expert in this area either. I'll have to open it to find out." "I'll go find the tools."

Daisy understood that only by confirming that there were cameras installed in the house could she prove that her words were true and the Detective Bureau would reinvestigate the case.

"Wait." Luke thought for a moment and decided not to tear it down. "Pull open the curtains and let's leave the study first."

"What's wrong?" Daisy asked puzzled.

"If there is really a camera installed in the wall lamp, it means that the suspect may be observing the situation in the house through the camera. Once we remove the wall, it may alert him. What we need to do now is to maintain the status quo and try not to let the other party notice it."

Daisy asked back, "If we don't take it apart, we can't be sure it's a camera. Can we reopen the case?"

Luke carefully observed the position of the wall lamp and analyzed, "Installing the camera from this angle will allow us to capture the safe without being blocked by the person opening the safe, so we can see the password. If I were the suspect, I would also install it at this position."

The house returned to its original state and the two left the room. Luke called Susan to report, and Susan agreed to bring someone in for testing.

Daisy paced up and down the living room, looking a little restless. Luke sat on the sofa in a daze, actually he was studying the 'detection card'.

[The detection card has been used. Function, detect unknown electronic devices within a range of ten meters, such as monitoring, listening, recording, tracking, etc. ]

This card doesn't mean much to ordinary people, but it is very useful to detectives and police. … Ten p.m. Susan and her team rushed to Daisy's house, accompanied by David, Marcus and two technicians.

David patted Luke on the shoulder, "It's an honor to meet you after get off work." Marcus winked and smirked, "How's it going, man?"

Luke ignored them and reported to Susan. She instructed David and Marcus to watch for suspicious activity outside while the technicians began their inspection.

A few minutes later, one of the technicians reported, "Captain Susan, we found a miniature camera behind the wall lamp in the study."

"Can it be traced?"

"It was transmitting wirelessly, but the signal source has been disconnected, so we can't track it now."

Susan concluded, "The suspect must have realized the camera was discovered."

The technician added, "The suspect might be aware of the discovery, or they could have left and returned later to retrieve the footage."

Susan directed, "Continue testing for other surveillance or eavesdropping devices."

To Daisy, Susan said, "The police will reinvestigate your case, and we'll thoroughly examine your house for any other devices. We'll also collect biological evidence, for that we need your permission."

"I'm willing to assist, but how long will this take? Can I stay here tonight?"

"You'll need to find temporary accommodation," Susan said. "We'll send a female officer to escort you to a hotel."

Daisy said, "Luke can stay with me. I trust him."

"Any objections?" Susan asked Luke.

"No," Luke replied simply

Since Daisy was vulnerable, Luke decided to stay with her. Daisy asked for five minutes to pack some clothes.

Luke inquired, "Captain, do you need a statement from Daisy?"

Susan thought briefly and replied, "Talk to her first and take her statement at the station tomorrow."

A few minutes later, Luke and Daisy left the house and got into the red convertible, much to the surprise of Marcus and David.

Marcus asked, "Where are you headed?"

"Mind your own business and do your job," Luke replied curtly.

Marcus looked at David with confusion. "Did you see that? We were called out for an investigation, and now he's off with a woman while we're left out here."

David grumbled, "I may be bald, but I'm not blind."
