Miura Yumiko POV:
Yatta~ Today is May 1st where I finally get to see my classmate's pitiful faces go pale and horror wash over them, realising how stupid and ignorant they've been this entire month. Except for a select few, who I'm friends with, I internally apologise for.
Here she is, our stern sensei, who is also gloomy on the inside because of how immeasurable her disappointment must be.
"Hey, sensei, did you start menopause or something?" Ike said something dirty, but what disappoints me is that Ayanokouji was thinking the same thing right about now.
"All right, your morning homeroom is about to begin. Before we get started, does anyone have any questions? If so, now is the time to speak."
"Um, I checked my point balance this morning, but I didn't see any deposits. Points are given on the first day of every month, aren't they? I couldn't buy juice this morning." Blown through all 100,000 points, wow he didn't even save at least 1,000 points.
"Hondou, I already explained this before, didn't I? Points are deposited on the first day of the month. I've confirmed that points were wired this month without any issues."
"Um, but...nothing was deposited into my account, though."
"Are you kids really that dumb?" Here it comes. I have to try my best not to grin or at least hide it.
"Dumb? What?"
"Sit down, Hondou. I'll explain once more," she said.
"S-Sae-chan-sensei?" Hondou seemed to be taken back by her tone and sharp eyes. Seems like everyone is.
"Points were deposited. That much I know for certain. There is absolutely no chance that we forgot about anyone in this class. To think so is ludicrous. Understood?"
"Well, even if I tell you that we understand, we haven't received any points..."
"Ha ha ha! I see. So, it's like that then, teacher? I think I've solved the mystery," Kouenji boomed, laughing. "It's simple. We're in Class D, so we didn't receive a single point." He's right about that, but at the same time wrong.
(I'm gonna skip the explanation, because we've all read it before.)
"I was so lucky to save my points" Matsushita and i are talking about the whole points fiasco and it seems she saved some of her points and didn't use it all up like the others.
"Same here, so you had suspicions as well." I had asked her this even though I already knew she was suspicious. In the LN it's revealed that she's been holding back in class.
"Yeah I was, how many points did you save?" I decided to lie to her.
"40-50,000 points. There were some things people were allowed to bring from home, which I did. So I didn't have to buy much necessities." She looked shocked and jealous at me for thinking of this.
"Your so lucky~ Aghh, I should of just done the same thing." I grinned at her playfully.
"Just shows how smart I am."
"Careful, your Horikita's showing." We giggled at her comment and I took a glance around the classroom.
"At least you don't have to go low enough to borrow points and never pay them back." She looked around as well and saw multiple people doing this, including Karuizawa.
"Yeah your right, but can you blame us. Almost everyone is literally on 0 points." I sighed since she was right. My classmates really are pathetic.
We then saw Mori coming to us so I decided to ask of her situation. "Ah Mori, how are you doing with points."
"Eh I'm doing okay, but I'm really disappointed we won't get any points." Me and Matsushita nodded in agreement. At least we'll get points next month— oh wait, we wont because of the Sudo and class C incident.
"Ayanokouji-kun and Miura-san from first-year Class D. Please come see Chiyabashira-sensei in the faculty office." A voice from the loudspeaker interrupted our conversation.
"What do you think Sensei wants with you guys." Mori was the first to ask.
"I'm not su—" I was about to answer but Matsushita said something else.
"Could it be you two got caught doing, you know~" I was confused by what she meant, but when I glanced at Mori and seeing her red face I immediately understood.
"Of course not! We're not even dating..." yet.
"Yet." I rolled my eyes and walked off to the faculty office.
"Bye!" I could hear Matsushita giggling a bit. Luckily no one heard or else it would be a pain if rumours like that spread.
I decided to wait for Ayanokouji outside the class. "Finally, I thought we could walk to the office together."
"Sure, I don't mind. Do you know why we've been called by her." I shook my head in response.
Once we made it to the faculty office, we couldn't see Chiyabashira-sensei anywhere. We saw Hoshinomiya-sensei but Ayanokouji isn't calling her like he did in the LN. Maybe because I'm here. I'll do the honours then.
"Excuse me, is Chiyabashira-sensei here?"
"Hmm? Sae-chan? Oh, she was just here a moment ago." She really is pretty for someone her age. "She must have stepped away for a minute. Do you two want to wait here?"
"No, thank you. We'll wait in the hall."Just like I remember, she followed us out in the hall and started a conversation.
"I'm Hoshinomiya Chie, in charge of Class B. Sae and I have been best friends since high school. That's why we call each other Sae-chan and Chie- chan." I forgot that's she's basically another Kushida. "Hey, why did Sae-chan call you? Huh? Huh? Why?"
"I'm not sure Sensei." Ayanokouji isn't speaking up so I decided to.
Actually this is good, I remember reading her touching him up. Out of nowhere she squeals and brings me into a hug with my face in between her breasts.
"Your so pretty. You probably have all the boys after you huh." I made muffled sounds, trying to pry off her. She let go and I could finally breathe and then looked over to Ayanokouji. "What are your names?"
"I'm Ayanokouji Kiyotaka." "I'm Miura Yumiko."
"Are you two perhaps dating~" not yet.
"No we're not." Ayanokouji decided to respond to that before glancing at me. I just smiled innocently at him.
"Ayanokoji-kun huh? That's a pretty cool name. You must be popular as well." I was watching their whole interaction and I couldn't help but get angry as she started grabbing onto him and touching his cheek. I unintentionally frowned. Finally Chiyabashira-sensei came.
"What are you doing, Hoshinomiya?"Chiyabashira-sensei smacked Hoshinomiya-sensei on the head with her clipboard.
Hoshinomiya-sensei crouched and gripped her head and cried out in pain. "Ouch! What was that for?"
"For getting involved with one of my students." A sense of satisfaction flowed through me seeing this.
"I was only keeping them company while they waited for you, Sae-chan."
"It would have been better if you didn't touch him. Thanks for waiting, both of you. Let's go into the office."
"The guidance office?" Ayanokouji asked. "Did I do something wrong? I've been trying to keep a low profile here."
"A good answer. Come."
We then followed her inside and Hoshinomiya-sensei had followed us as well. Chiyabashira-sensei was trying to get the sensei of class B to leave but of course her attempts were fruitile, then Hoshinomiya-sensei then said something outrageous, even though I knew it was coming, but not sure how.
"So, Sae-chan, are you looking to be dominated by two teenagers?" So she referred to us as teenagers.
I looked at Ayanokouji and sighed at his confusion, which didn't go unnoticed by him. How can he think about licking fingers and saying spread your legs, but not know what this meant. Finally, Ichinose had arrived and took Hoshinomiya-sensei away. Chiyabashira-sensei offered us tea, then locked us away in the room and told us not to make any unnecessary moves or we'll be expelled.
"Ah, come in. So, what did you want to talk to me about, Horikita?" I just rolled my eyes and looked at Ayanokouji.
"She did offer us some tea, so should I make us some, I've been told I'm good at it." He looked at me for a second before nodding a 'sure' and passed me a few containers.
While sensei and Horikita were talking I made some tea for us. I gave it to Ayanokouji to let him take a sip of it and saw his eyes open a little. I internally squealed as he continued to drink it as proof of liking it. It's only natural since I learnt from my maid, who makes the best.
"How is it?"
"It's good, the best I've had."
"Really! How good?" Fufu, continue complimenting me.
"I'd say better than caf—" He was interrupted by Chiyabashira-sensei.
"If you don't come out, I'll have you both expelled." Seriously, they finished that quick.
I sighed and walked out with Ayanokouji following behind me. I looked to the right and see a surprised Horikita. I looked back to Chiyabashira-sensei waiting for an explanation.
"Were you listening to our conversation?" Horikita asked.
"Listening? I know you guys were talking, but I didn't really hear anything. The walls are surprisingly thick."
"That's not true. Voices carry pretty well into the kitchen." Chiyabashira-sensei butted in. You tried your best Ayanokouji.
"Sensei, why would you do this?" Horikita noticed that this had all been planned and was angry.
"Because I deemed it necessary. Now then, Ayanokouji, Miura, I'll explain why I called you both here."
"Well then, if you'll excuse me..." Horikita muttered.
"Wait, Horikita. It would be in your best interest to stay and listen. It may provide you with a hint on how to reach Class A." And like the dog chasing for the impossible, she sits back down.
"Please keep it brief," she said.
I took a sip of my tea and noticed Chiyabashira-sensei finally sawthe mugs in our hands. I just tilt my head and fake confusion, which she responds with a glare, trying to scare me.
Sensei sighed and decided to leave it and chuckled as she glanced over her clipboard and flipped through the pages. "You both are truly interesting students."
"I've been told." I responded, there was no need to deny anything.
"Not at all. I'm certainly not as interesting as a teacher with a strange surname like Chiyabashira." Ayanokouji responded.
"Would you speak like that to every Chiyabashira in the nation? Hmm?" I remember Ayanokouji thinking of a response, but never said it.
"But isn't it unlikely to find someone with that same surname all over the country." This responded in sensei glaring at me, but I just smiled innocently.
"Anyway, when I read over the entrance exam's results, both your scores piqued my interest. I was shocked to see not only one, but two people capable of such a feat."
"For Ayanokouji, he score Fifty points in Japanese. Fifty points in mathematics. Fifty points in English. Fifty points in social studies. Fifty points in science. You even scored Fifty points on the recent short test. And for Miura, you scored Fifity-five points on all subjects, also Fifty-five on the recent short test. Do you know what this means."
A stunned Horikita looked over at our test papers and then shifted her focus to us. "This is a rather frightening coincidence,"
"Oh? You believe this was a coincidence? They both did it intentionally."
"Yeah you caught me, I manipulated my scores." I decided to tell the truth about my abilities, because in the end they'll both know about it.
"Why would you do that, it doesn't make sense?" Horikita asked.
"It's obvious, because they don't matter. Even if you scored 100. They interview is what mattered in the end."
Chiyabashira's eyes widened at this, she probably didn't know I knew. "You knew about the hierarchy."
"Of course I did. I only came to school to seek for entertainment." I glanced at Ayanokouji, so he knows I'm talking about him, he responded with a light sigh.
"But the school doesn't allow anyone to know information like that."
"True but if your family is powerful enough and friends with the chairman. I wonder how he would feel if I told him that you threatened to expel me." I smirked at Chiyabashira's expression as her face went all pale. I could see Horikita's eyes widen at me. "But of course I won't, I'm not someone who takes the easy way out." I could see her face slowly turn into relief at this.
"I see." With me mentioning this now, some of Ayanokouji's doubts should be cleared of me being a WR student sent to expel him, even if he hadn't thought about it know, it could be for the future. Or at least me knowing about him.
"Even though you know this, are you saying your okay with being in class D." Horikita asked me.
"I chose to be in class D Horikita. Also my school life doesn't matter as my parents think I'm already mature and smart enough to lead our business."
She started gritting her teeth, no liking the uninterested expression on my face. She then brought her attention to Ayanokouji. "And you Ayanokouji-kun."
"It's a coincidence. There's no evidence that it's not. Besides, what would I gain by manipulating my scores in the first place? If I were intelligent enough to achieve high marks, I would've tried to get perfect scores." As he feigned innocence, Chiyabashira-sensei sighed in exasperation. While I smirked at him with a glint in my eyes.
"You really do seem like an odious student. Listen. Only 3 percent of students solved the fifth math problem successfully. However, you solved it perfectly, and used a complex formula to do so. However, the tenth problem on the test had a completion rate of 76 percent. Did you make a mistake on it? Is that normal?"
"I don't know what normal is. It was a coincidence, I tell you. A coincidence."
"For crying out loud! I respect your frank attitude, but it'll cause problems for you in the future," I decided to interrupt and get this over with.
"Your voice is annoying sensei. Just tell the truth, you want to use us to reach class A."
"I'll think about that when the time comes."
Chiyabashira-sensei shot Horikita a glance that seemed to say, What do you think? Seems like she's ignoring me.
"Why do you pretend not to know?" Horikita asked.
"Like I said, it was a coincidence. It's not like I'm hiding that I'm a genius or anything."
"I wonder. They may be even more intelligent than you, Horikita." Horikita flinched, while I added more fuel to the fire with a smirk.
"Isn't that a given sensei."
"I don't like studying, and I don't plan to try hard. That's why I get those scores." Ayanokouji carried on.
"A student who chose this school wouldn't say something like that. However, some students may have different reasons for getting in. You, for example, Miura and Koenji as well. I think you're fine with being in either D or A."
"What other reasons do you have?" Horikita asked.
"You want me to explain it to you in detail?"
"No, we'd best stop here. Any more, and I might go mad and destroy all the furniture in here," Ayanokouji said.
"If you did that, Ayanokouji, I would demote you to E Class." Sensei said, but she was obviously lying, she needs him.
"Wait, there's an E Class?"
"Certainly. Of course, the 'E' stands for 'expelled.' As in, you'd be kicked out of school. Well, I suppose our conversation has ended. Enjoy your lives." I rolled my eyes at her sarcasm and decided to leave.
"I'm leaving, I think we're done here."
"I'm leaving, too. It's almost time for the faculty meeting. I'm going to close the door, so please step outside." The next few minutes are going to be a pain.
"Well. Should we head back?" Ayanokouji asked.
Horikita didn't respond, while I nodded at him and we both started to walk away.
"Wait." She's going to try and use us. Maybe try and use Ayanokouji more since I'm not limiting myself like Ayanokouji is and have more influence than her in the class.
"Was your score...really just a coincidence?" she asked.
"I already said so, didn't I? Or do you have any proof that I got that score on purpose?" Ayanokouji responded.
"I don't, but...I also don't understand, Ayanokouji-kun. You said that you like to avoid trouble, but you both don't seem to be interested in Class A."
"Of course not." I said.
"You have an extraordinary fixation on Class A." Ayanokouji wanted to know why. Seems like he knows subconsciously that there's a deeper meaning as to why she wants to be in class A. Her bother obviously, but he doesn't know that yet.
"Should I not? I'm simply striving to improve my future prospects."
"Oh, absolutely. You should. It's perfectly natural."
"When I entered this school, I thought graduation was my only goal. But the reality is different. I'm not even at the starting line." Horikita sped up and started walking next to us.
"So, why are you aiming for Class A?"
"First, I want to ascertain this school's true motives. Why was I put into Class D? Chiyabashira-sensei said I'd been deemed a Class D student, but why? When I discover the answer, I'll aim for A. No, I will definitely make it to A."
"It's obvious, you chose to be a loner." I really wanted to get things over with.
"That has nothing to do with me. Everyone is nothing but a burden. I do better alone." When she says this Ayanokouji sighs, while I roll my eyes at her same antics.
"That's going to be difficult. You'll have to rehabilitate the problem children. You have Sudou's continued tardiness and class cutting, everyone else talking in class, and, of course, the test scores. Even if you manage all of that, you're still at zero points." Ayanokouji tries.
"I know that. I still think the school made a mistake with my placement. I can understand your thoughts, but I don't think the school will continue supervising us so carefully. If they did, there'd be no meaning in competition," Horikita said.
"So you think you can, you must more delusional than I thought." I asked.
Horikita glared at me, but I just looked at her like I was talking to dust. She started getting angry at me and Ayanokouji butted in to stop us.
"Look, I understand how you feel, but you can't solve this by yourself. Think about Sudou. Even if you improve, the rest of the class will drag you down."
"...No. You're right that no lone individual can solve this problem. We won't even make it to the starting line without everyone's help."
"Well, it sounds like we've got a huge problem on our hands."
"We have three major, immediate issues. Tardiness and talking during class are the first two. Third, we must make sure no one fails the midterm exam."
"I think we'll manage those first two issues, but the midterms..." Without Ayanokouji's help, most were gonna fail the midterms and get expelled.
"I need your help, Ayanokouji-kun and Miura-san."
"Help?" Horikita glares at him. "What if I refuse? Like how you refused Hirata this morning."
"Do you want to refuse?" she asked.
"What if I said I'd gladly help?"
"Stop beating around the bush already." I was getting tired of this.
"I never would've thought you'd both do it gladly, but I doubt you'd refuse. If you both did refuse to work with me, then that would be the end of it. No matter what I said about our future, I'd be powerless if you both refused. So, will you help guys me or not?"
"We refuse," We both said at the same time.
"I always knew you'd both help. I'm grateful."
"We didn't say that! We turned you down!"
"No, I heard the voices inside your heads. You two said you'd help."
"It doesn't matter, whatever she says just say no to. She's nothing but a pest now. Actually, she always was" I said.
"I don't even know how I could help you, though." Please Ayanokouji, 5% of you is more than enough.
"Don't worry. I don't require your brain power, Ayanokouji-kun. Leave the planning to me, and act as I tell you."
"Pffft. Like you could plan." She simply ignored me, but I could tell she was getting annoyed because of her eyes twitching.
"Huh? What do you mean by act?"
"Doesn't our lack of points trouble you, Ayanokouji-kun? If you follow my instructions, I promise you we'll see a point increase. I would never lie."
"I don't know what you're cooking up, but there are other people you could count on. If you made friends, they'd cooperate with you."
"Unfortunately, no one else in Class D is nearly as easy to manipulate as both you."
"Your joking right, Chiyabashira just showed our superiority to you." I said.
"She's right, plus there are several people. Hirata, for example. He's popular and smart, so he'd be perfect. Besides, he's worried that you're all alone, Horikita." Sadly that won't work Ayanokouji.
"He's no good. Even if he has some talent and ability, I can't use him. To use an analogy, think about the pieces in shogi. Right now, I don't need a gold or silver general. I want a few pawns."
I narrowed my eyes at this and my glare become colder by the second. Did she really say this. Call us pawns. Us. Had she said this before or was it something new. It's only natural I wouldn't remember their conversation word for word. But even still, she had the nerve to say. I had enough.
With speed too fast for her, I aimed a sharp jab towards her head. Once it got near her face, a hand grabbed my wrist to stop her from getting hit. I slowly turned towards Ayanokouji as to why he stopped me.
Everything was too fast for Horikita. Once she saw the fist right up her face, she took a few steps back in fear and caution. And a cold sweat was dripping from her forehead.
'Too... fast. That wasn't normal.' Horikita glance over to Ayanokouji. 'And he stopped it... Was I right to call them pawns.' Horikita was currently thinking.
"Why did you stop me." I asked coldly.
"You don't have to go this far." Does he seriously not care. Not even a little.
"She called us pawns. Are you seriously going to take that?"
"It doesn't mean much."
"Tsk. Whatever I'm going back to the dorms."
To tell the truth I just wanted to punch her face. It always pissed me off because of her attitude. I was never really angry at her and Ayanokouji know this if he's really that good at observing. However this should be enough to show her place when she's with me, even if she's really stubborn.
After all I need her to get Ayanokouji to show his abilities so I have a reason to be interested in him. And I'll fall more in love with him if I see everything in person.
But finally the month of waiting has passed and now I'll see Ayanokouji in play.
