Chapter 1 - Prologue

Only in battle can the true mettle of any sentient being be measured.

So what then of the battlefield?

The battlefield can consist of many things, the depths of space, bloodstained ground, the blue skies, the deep waters, and yet the battlefield can also be present in the fields of pen and paper, the thoughts and hearts of people and yes even our emotions.

How often must we fight to control our anger, our lust, our sloth, our greed, our envy, our hunger, and our pride.

We counter them with being merciful, being chaste, being productive, being generous, being kind, being temperate and showing humility.

For the seven sins there are seven virtues, they must be balanced or things will go out of control.

Do not be too wrathful, yet do not be too merciful.

Being lustful is fine, so long as that lust is tempered by being chaste in your relationships. Meaning, get it on with your significant other as much as you guys can or want, but do not seek outside of your relationship.

Being slothful is okay so long as it is on your days off, be productive by going to work when you're supposed to or going to class and studying.

Greed is fine so long as you use some of that wealth to help others in need.

Being envious is difficult but that doesn't mean you can't be kind. Just as you envy someone, someone probably envies you.

Being gluttonous you enjoy your foods, be temperate by not eating them as often.

Being prideful is not a bad thing, but do not let it become hubris. Show humility by acknowledging that what you can do, anybody else can as well and admitting that while you are proud of what you've done, you can do it better next time or speaking of the person who is your motivation.

Yin and Yang, or if you prefer, balance is necessary in life. There can be no Light without Darkness, there can be no Life without Death. There can be no Good without Evil. Everything has its opposite, for straight men there are straight women and for every gay guy there is a gay woman, though those two don't actually get together.

Living a moral life is important, but at the same time, within in the realm of the law it is ok to let loose.

Balance, if you find your center, your personal balance among the Light and Dark, Sins and Virtues, Life and Death, Good and Evil, then you will have found your path to a life well lived.

That is what I'm here to talk about, a life well lived.

My name is Morgan, Alex Morgan.

And if you will take a seat and listen, I will tell you my tale of how I came to be a Knight in Another World.
