Chapter 19 - Li's Element, An Egg, and Odd Qi?

15 days later...

Li had become accustomed to fighting and wanted to face a stronger foe, a bear, but first need to consult a thought that had been in the back of his mind for a while.

Li had always felt a particularly strong connection to the breeze. No matter where nor the strength of the wind.

He felt like every inch of it had a gravitational pull that was sucking him in tempting hi to use it, but he didn't know how to.

He didn't know if using Qi would work or if he would have to manipulate some other romanticised feature of his wide range of abilities.

He tried everything but nothing worked. He eventually gave up on the thought and just moved on from it.

He went to hunt a bear to clear his mind. Exiting his cave like he done a few times before he stretched his stiff limbs, (sleeping on rocks isn't the best experience ever.) and began looking for his prey.

After 15 minutes the forest went quiet and the only sound that remained was the loud and ominous footsteps from not to far away.

It is unsettling when all the birds chirps cease, it feels quite odd. Li knew it meant a strong predator was nearby. He was readying himself for a fight, even if it was life or death.

He soon spotted his duel partner in a small clearing nearby. It was meandering aimlessly scaring all the animals around it.

A stealthy approach was the smartest decision because it gave Li one shot to do as much damage as possible before actually having to face the thing.

He breathed in calmly before leaping out of his hiding place and covering the short distance before him and the animal before pouncing on it and smashing its face in.

It instinctively released a threatening aura to scare Li but he did not waver and he ran in for another attack but this animal was not so simple. It dodged his pathetic attempt at hitting it.

Then it made its first move and tried to bite at Li's arm, with the latter dodging in the nick of time. Not wasting anymore time it directly pounced on Li and had him pinned.

Li realised he was in an unavoidable situation but still persisted in trying to escape. He closed his eyes and went for a punch desperate to escape, suddenly he felt a large weight leave his torso.

When he reopened his eyes the bear was sitting down by a tree a few meters away. Very confused Li approached cautiously.

He had a proper look at the bear and realised it had no head, and he couldn't see it anywhere. He was so stunned so he tried to redo what he just did.

A fairly heavy gust of wind came flying out of his fist as if he had a leafblower, although this was a half-baked conclusion, he thought that must be what killed the bear.

It would also answer his prior question about why he felt such a strong connection to wind. He closed his mind to see if the voice in his head had anything to say.

"Spiritual element" Came the voice of the mysterious old man.

'It's my spiritual element? Does that mean its the only one I can use?' there were so many questions and to little answers.

He chimed in again but the voice said nothing more. He headed back to the cave for some alone time.

'I really need to cultivate and explore the island a little more, maybe I'll find something interesting. It's a very large island after all.' Li thought to himself

He had a sudden thought of going home but realised that even if he wanted to he wouldn't be able to because he had no fucking idea where he was.

'This is really troubling' He was beginning to become slightly homesick as he missed weetbixs and school. Nothing in the world brought him more joy.

As soon as he is able he is getting the hell off the island. That was what he decided to himself. Who would want to live like a caveman.

It made him feel oddly nostalgic and he really didn't like it. He was just focusing on his own self for the moment and was gonna cultivate to calm his nerves.

Several hours later

Li looked at the bear meat next to him and went to cook it because after using his "Spirit Element" he felt very hungry and parched.

'I'm gonna head down to fetch some salt water' desalination was Li's best friend or he would have no fresh water on this island, but something odd happened.

Li was walking on the beach when an egg washed ashore. Looking around for any sign of a mother Li gently picked up the egg and took it home along with the salt water.

After beginning the desalination process Li thoroughly inspected the egg and was confused. It was almost a mosaic. It looked like the popular 'Starry Night' by Van Gogh.

It didn't look like it was too far off hatching either so Li gently placed it near the fire so it would receive some kind of warmth.

Instead of sleeping he decided to cultivate, they served similar purposes in any case it left Li well rested by the time dawn broke.

He was also interested in investing time to his element but would put that on hold because he was quite lazy.

As the sun rose Li wanted to relax for a day so he would just spend it cultivating his spiritual pools and he felt himself progressing nicely.

He then noticed something out of the ordinary. There were small traces of some very strong Qi in his spiritual pools. They were only found in very small clusters but were entirely gold.

He tried to listen to the voice inside his head to see if it had anything to add to this groundbreaking discovery.

'Celestial Qi'
