Chapter 1 - Paradise Lost | Synopsis

»»————- ♡ ————-««

Lucifer couldn't be still. His blood was boiling, his stomach coiling into itself and his legs felt as if they could fail him at any given time. He paced the room, hands behind his back and twirling his thumbs against each other.

Outside his brothers spoke in gentle whispers about trivial things. There had never been secrets in heaven and he had never felt the need to hide anything from his brothers or his father up until now.

He looked around the room and it bothered him. He wondered how he had been able to withstand it for this long. The all white walls, the white comforter and bed as if he had ever felt the need to sleep! The window to the sun. Everything was irritating him. The same sun which used to favor him above everyone else was starting to burn him as if it knew before he had even made the decision.

Samael took a deep breath and forced his legs to move as he left the room. His brothers were scattered across the skies. Michael was, as always, bent over the lake of souls. Of them all, he was the most loyal to his father's creation. Gabriel, Raphael and Uriel were standing further away from him, each sharpening their own weapons. The warriors. Always ready for battle even though none had happened in hundreds of years.

Zadkiel and Jophiel were closest to their father. The conversation was light and the angels didn't seem bothered by his presence up until the moment he knelt down. He placed one hand on his knee and lowered his head.

⸻ "Forgive me father for I will sin."

Heaven fell quiet.

God rose from his throne, frowning as he glanced down at his favorite son. The brightest star. He placed his hand on Samael's shoulder and allowed him to stand.

⸻ "Why do you say that Samael?"

Samael shook with uncontrolled anger and fright. Unbeknownst to him, the tips of his white wings were slowly growing darker. The higher he stood the darker his wings became.

⸻ "Your creation should be brought to extinction." He spoke, pride and fury in his voice.

⸻ "Why would that be?"

⸻ "They destroy far more than they create. We have worked day and night to provide them a stable environment to thrive in and they destroyed it! They are killing the very same planet which gives them life!"

At that, Samael's spear appeared beside him. As soon as it came in contact with his fingers, the object lit up as if it was a dying star and he sent it crashing down onto earth with all his might. The destruction was powerful, burning everything and everyone in it's wake.

God stood by, unmoving as Samael's spear returned to him.

The angel floated above his maker, his wings now completely black. The very same sun he drew his life force from now seemed to dimmer as his wings cast long shadows ahead of him.

⸻ "Forgive me father, for I have sinned."

Around him, his brothers drew their own weapons, all pointing at him but he didn't fear them. Nor could he look at them or his own father, he looked up. The light was blinding.

⸻ "What you have done Samael?" His father asked, no hint of hidden emotions in his voice.

⸻ "I have done what was necessary."

⸻ "Very well." The wiser man walked forward. He branded his own spear and slammed it against the thin lining of heaven. The sound resonated many miles and so did the crack that followed. Below, Lucifer could see the burned bits of human civilization and human lives.

⸻ "You will learn to live alongside them. You will love, live and loose as they do. If you believe they are only capable of the same destruction you brought upon them, you will teach them the ways. Cleanse your soul Samael for this is your only chance."

As the words died down, Lucifer was sucked down to earth. As he fell, he screamed at the heavens and cursed his father but nothing worked.

And when his body crashed against the human ground, all Lucifer could think of was that one day he would have his revenge.

And he couldn't wait for the day to come.
