Rumours about Amelia

~

The Estate of Duke Walterus,

The Town of Crimsonton,

Kingdom of Velicia,

Fair Morning,

The Ninth Day of the Month of November,

Thirty Third Year of the Reign of King Jesse Crestings

"Ah, don't worry. I won't hate her. You can tell me what's on your mind", Erion assured, with a calm smile.

"You see, I spent the last eve with Miss Alessia and we were talking about Amelia. It seems that she is a woman who goes out to meet many men at night and does not really possess much of morals", Charlene said. "I did not want to say it to you, but I don't want you to get upset when it is too late."

Erion laughed in response, as though he had not taken her seriously, before saying, "What makes you think I am pursuing her?"

Charlene felt a surge of relief course through her veins at the sound of that reply. She had felt alarmed for a moment that the man would be carried away by Amelia. "I- well, it seemed quite possible, since she is such a wonderful person. I don't doubt men would want to marry her, but since I heard that she isn't of the finest character, I thought I would warn you", the damsel stumbled to make amends.

"Who told you she was of loose character? Alessia?" Knight Erion asked. The damsel did not like how he sounded like he was quite familiar with her enough to cross check Charlene's words.

But she simply said, "Like I said, I was talking with Alessia, yes. But perhaps it is just word on the street."

The man of dark curling hair nodded, before saying, "Don't worry. She is not a person so."

"Oh, do you know her well?" Charlene asked, a sharp sensation spiking up in her mind.

"Not quite, but I'm not one to believe rumours. And besides, don't worry, I don't have my eyes on her. I told Roden to check her out, since she seems cheerful and nice. He's been wishing to settle down with a family, but has never found a woman who would suit all his preferences. Amelia seems nice enough to go well with him, don't you think?" Knight Erion said, seeming like he liked his grand opinion.

The heir of the Estate felt like her gossip had made her look bad, since he wasn't taking it. And so she replied, "Of course. If she truly is a woman of great character, then I don't see what she shouldn't be pursued."

"You don't have to worry about my heart, it always belongs to you", the dark haired man said, leaning close to her and giving her a wink.

Charlene chuckled, with no mirth in her voice, before saying, "As I've always told you, the chances of marriage are very slim, Erion. I cannot promise you anything, and I am working on myself right now. But you do mean most to me among all our accomplices."

Erion nodded, "I know. Just let me love you every day and to see your beautiful face. That is all I want from you."

Charlene laughed, shaking her head. Her thoughts were still tainted by the fact that he held high opinions of Amelia. After all, there was only a slim chance before Erion himself would be falling for the peasant girl if he spent more time with her.

She heaved a long sigh, before saying, "I just wish I could marry a man exactly like you. It would keep my happy all my life."

With those words said, she looked up to see the man holding a hand over his nose, blushing profusely from cheeks to ears. Charlene smiled. It always gave her a seething sensation of giddy pleasure when she could see how much her presence could affect a man.

Especially an aloof man like Erion.

"I hope those wishes of yours come true", the man said, quietly, when he had finally found his voice.

Then, Charlene asked, "So, where do you have to go right now?"

"I have been summoned by the Crown Prince. I will have to be there in about an hour. I just came by to meet you before that, since I would like a fair day ahead of me and seeing your beautiful face can grant me that luck", he finished with a wink.

The golden haired damsel laughed to it. "Prince Rayzenn?" she asked, feeling interested. After all, if the man was going to be present at the Imperial Castle that day, in a meeting with the Head Knight of the West Wing, it would guarantee her own chances of seeing the man.

After all, there had been no chances of her crossing paths with the man ever since she had begun trying to visit the Castle with the reports of her Reading Association as an excuse.

"Yes", Erion said curtly, the happiness in his voice draining out. He seemed like he disliked the Crown Heir. But to Charlene, it was excitement. If the Prince returned her feelings for him, there was no telling how high her life could soar. Further, it was like a fresh breath of air to see Erion worked up about the fact that she was intrigued by the man.

"Well, I hope you have a good time. Maybe the Prince wanted to meet you because you claimed that you were the vigilante at the end of the interrogation", Charlene chuckled.

Erion shrugged, seeming like he was tired. "I don't know. And in all honesty, I don't really care either."

The damsel nodded.

Then, shaking out of the moods, the man asked her, "And where are you going, dressed so lovely?"

Charlene noticed that his gaze was sweeping over the exposed parts of her skin despite the purple velvet dress, across her bare neckline, that ran deep and her elegant, slim arms. "I intend to go to the Imperial Castle to submit the reports of our discussions after the Reading Association", she said.

Erion did not seem too happy about her agenda for the day.
