Chapter 22 - Dealing with the Curse I — Ambrosya

Being the chosen one of the goddess of foresight heightened my Mental Acuity, as well as gave me a special ability.

I could see possibilities of the future when I concentrated hard enough and poured mana into my eyes. Though I couldn't see that far ahead, as long as both my power and Lappei's power grew, it would similarly improve.

For now, it was about a quarter of a second into the future.

I was happy with this ability. Once it got stronger, I would be able to save myself from a ton of possible deaths.

Mana Vision helped me see into the world and Foresight allowed me to protect myself.

So far, so good.

I placed my focus on the fruit in my right hand. The golden apple had its own glow in this dim treasure room. It was a mesmerizing sight. I could almost feel myself drooling.

If I was a regular human being, with this fruit, I could increase all my talents by a single rank. But since I was currently an impressionable Lesser Human who was extremely sensitive to mana, it would increase my talents by two ranks at least.

The amount of mana in this fruit was absolutely monstrous, after all. All Mana Vision could see was a dense ball of deep dark blue. It overshadowed the golden colour of the apple.

It was like lapis lazuli instead.

I took a deep breath before putting the fruit close to my lips. The scent of the apple was akin to roses and honey mixed together. A fragrance that could rival the best perfumes on Earth.

I could feel my mouth growing watery with every sniff I stole.

Crunch—!

I abruptly took a bite out of the apple. The fruit melted in my mouth without me having to chew. It was like cotton candy inside my mouth. Sweet juice flowed from the melting fruit as I took another bite.

I consumed the apple in less than thirty seconds. I licked my fingers when I was done, as well as my lips.

I wanted to have another Fruit of God. Even though it wouldn't increase my talents a second time, just the taste was worthy of being something that even the gods treasured.

I was lucky that Lappei was fine with giving me her only Fruit of God. The final treasure she owned before receiving the Raasthad.

Smacking my lips in satisfaction, I looked around the treasure room.

There were a lot of items here, but at least half of them were trash, half of them were items for everyday use, and only a small percentage were actually treasures. And Raasthad was the main reason why there was even a percentage.

A potion was laying around here, and I wanted to get it before any beast gets released upon me for staying here too long.

Thus, pocketing Lappei's ichor, I went and began digging around. Similar to what I did to Caelum's house, I sorted everything out and tidied out the area.

This was also why I personally called treasure rooms, garbage rooms. Everything here came from adventurers who died inside this dungeon.

These were all items that the dungeon itself could not digest.

I searched for an hour and a half.

When I finally found the potion, my back was killing me. Sorting out through all that trash with a body as weak as mine was pure suffering.

Nonetheless, I found the potion that I wanted.

It was a Mana Viscosity potion. A potion created in the distant past that no was no longer sold nowadays because having viscous mana was seen as low-level mana. The era of humans today dictated that having free-flowing mana was the superior form of mana to have.

Thus, they preferred and valued fluidity more.

What they were still discovering was that when it came to Mana Quality's substats, it wasn't always about which stat was higher. There were certain combinations to these substats that allowed for some interesting synergies.

An example would be having dense and viscous mana. Such a set-up allowed one to have mana that could reinforce a blade or body part with greater efficiency. It was very suitable for people who want to be absolute tanks.

Thin and highly fluid mana made for the swiftest mana around. It was a great set-up for agility types.

To be fair to the humans, however, having dense yet fluid mana was like having mercury for mana. It was the best of both worlds in a way. It contained a lot of energy and yet it was very easy to manipulate.

What I was going to do with this Mana Viscosity potion was related to evolution. I needed dense and viscous mana so that I could reinforce my entire body enough to trigger my evolution. But not this evolution.

The evolution that came after simple humanity.

[ High Humans ]

A race that the world had yet to discover. A race only made possible by the World's System created by the gods.

Excitedly, I pocketed the potion for the future. Becoming a High Human would be a milestone that would prove my strength to the world.

I then turned around and left the half-cleaned room behind. I brought a few extra items with me: A new dagger, a higher-quality cloak, and in essence, an entirely new wardrobe. I had a backpack full of everyday items I would need in school.

I dragged my bags with great perseverance as I walked through the pathway I had used about two hours ago. I was heading back after securing what I wanted. Any deeper into the dungeon than the treasure room and I would surely perish.

I had gotten what I needed. The next step in my plan had arrived. It was now time for me to get rid of the curse I was given.

After all, Alliyaha had essentially cursed me to eternal weakness. She forcefully transformed me into a Lesser Human before locking down my growth. There was no way for me to return to my original Human body if I was unable to break these coils that shackled me.
