"Go from here Edna, start your new life with people who love you" he said. "But.... but father... I don't know anyone outside our village and what about you, father, who will take care of you..." she sobbed. "Though I have not done anything for you, you still care about me?" he said.
They hugged each other in order to make it up for the years they have lost and she felt really relieved. "You have to go, Edna. I promise ,you will somehow find your way" and he gave her a ring which Gaya had given him.
She took the ring in her hand and that gave her chills down her spine and it bore a symbol of werewolf and made of emerald. "Father?" she gasped. "Do not lose it. Mother said it belongs to you, my girl. Be safe and sorry for being a terrible father " he said.
They hugged again and finally it was time for Edna to leave. He wanted to accompany her on her journey and so he decided to walk her till the end of their village. They walked in at twilight and no one was around them at that time of the hour and he insisted her to be more cautious in every step she took.
"Do not forget me Edna..... though I am a bad father" he said before leaving her hands. She nodded and started her journey towards the endless mountains. "The Endless Mountains" stood like giants waiting for war but deep inside she also had the feeling of home.
The night was very cold and Edna could feel her fingers becoming numb but still she continued her journey. She was not alone as a shadow started following her the minute she felt her house.
She thought about her days in the village and her grandmother Gaya who took care of her and her eyes started to fill with tears and she wiped them. "There ,there my princess , don't cry, I will kill you soon" thought the shadow which was following her.
For some reason he couldn't sleep that night and started tossing in the bed. His heart kept telling him something was wrong. Eric was completely disturbed and so was Edward. For the first time in years Eric asked Edward "Do you feel alright? " "Something is disturbing me" he said.
"Do you think it's the rogues?" asked Edward. "No.... it's not the rogues.... but i can't figure it out" said Eric. "Shall we go for a run? We can clear our minds then" said Edward to which Eric agreed. Due to the recent rogue attacks there is heavy patrolling around the pack territory.
He wanted to go far away from the territory and so he took another route and reached the heart of the woods. Eric had a feeling something was going to happen but he did not know what it was. "Is everything okay , Eric?" asked Edward who was a bit worried.
He was on his complete watch and came to a clearance which was filled with wild flowers and berries. He likes the fragrance of the flowers and berries as they were becoming irresistible. "I can't get"He started loving the fragrance and couldn't ignore it for it felt like a drug to him.
He went closer to the flowers and berries and started sniffing them but the fragrance did not grow stronger and it remained the same. He then realised it was not from them but it was attracting him more and more and finally it hit hard and he said "Mate !".
He started running in that direction from where he could sense the smell but he couldn't find anyone. This started driving him crazy. But he could also sense a pungent smell that made him angry "A witch ?" Eric thought to himself. This thought made him angry when he sensed his mate's scent and a witch nearby.
The smell grew stronger and stronger but he couldn't find the source for both. Eric was scared to death but all he could think of was about Eva. His mate was dead a long time back. He stood there helpless when she was consumed by darkness.
"That's not possible.... How can I have a m.. mate..." he was astounded. He wasn't ready to accept anyone for he loved Eva beyond words. But Edward on the other hand was really excited which annoyed Eric.
"You said it's our mate.... Come let's go find her" he said enthusiastically. "Don't annoy me more Edward.... It's not our mate.... Even if it's so..... we... should reject her" Eric said which made Edward angry.
"Why should I reject my mate? It's the moon goddess gift to me. I am here to love and protect her" sprang Edward in his mind. "Love? Protect? well if so why did Ella die?" asked Eric.
"Ella???" Edward was very much surprised to hear the name from Eric ,for it was in his dreams he saw Ella and he had never shared it with Eric, as there has always been a distance between Eric and Edward.
"How do you know about Ella?" Edward asked Eric. "She is our mate.... whom we couldn't protect..... But you don't remember her..... do you?" asked Eric sarcastically. "I saw her in my dreams.... Is she real?" Edward asked Eric.
"If not for our Alpha's betrayal, my mate will still be here." sprang Eric. Just as Edward was totally confused and was about to ask Eric about what he just said, they heard a scream which shook their entire world.
Who was screaming? What was the betrayal about? How did Ella die? Why couldn't the strongest beast Eric,couldn't protect his mate? Why doesn't Edward remember anything? Who was their mate? Why was Eric so disturbed?
