As the red tentacle-like tubes emerged from the opposite end, they sprung their way into the arms of each vampire on the scene.
Now that both ends were connected, the step was in motion. The vampire pawns that had dropped the crystals walked close to the red blood wall made by the crystals and pulled out a hilt.
On closer inspection, these hilts in their hands were the same as the one wielded by the second-class vampire pawn from earlier who dealt with the female vampire that went out of control.
With the hilt in their hand, they pushed against the blood wall. Now normally, the blood wall was solid and basically impenetrable. But with these hilts in their hand, they had found access and pushed their hilts in.
With the various hilts in, the vampire pawns proceeded with the next step which was a unanimous change in their eye colour. As their eyes changed from each respective different colour to a unilateral colour, mainly red, the hilts themselves reacted to this abrupt change.
The hilts began to vibrate and the strange patterns drawn on them lit up red similar to the one used by the second class vampire pawn.
When the hilts began to glow red and vibrate, at the same time, the bodies of each human present on the scene jolted and their expressions changed.
On each of their faces now was an expression of silent pain. Pain beyond expression that the only thing making it possible to detect this was the case was their naked expression.
On the other hand, the vampires held onto a face that screamed pleasure. The blood transfusion was on the way. Each mechanism worked in synchronisation with the other.
The vampire pawns with their hilts were able to control and channel the blood flow from the source, humans.
The blood wall on the other hand was set to prevent interaction between the channels. The blood tubes functioned to transport blood from the human sources directly into the bodies of the vampire.
"This....this feeling. It's beyond exciting!!!"Finn exclaimed as he felt the blood make it's way directly through his veins. His vision and hearing became hypersensitive and at that moment, no sensation passed him by.
Not even the heartbeats of everyone present. And on hearing the heartbeats, it occurred to him that his suspicions from before were right.
"I can hear two heartbeats buried in my chest. But only one from the others around me. Does being different...being a verwolf have something to do with this?"Finn thought.
He hadn't really given it a deep thought yet. But he was aware of his peculiarity. He knew he was different from those around him on many levels. But at that moment, such thoughts was to wait as something else caught his attention.
*Bing*
[Bloodlust detected within close proximity]
[Neutralize potential rival within 48 hours]
"What is this now? Taking the humans of the equation, everyone here probably has enormous bloodlust at this point. There is a chance that even I have more bloodlust than the others, "Finn thought while looking around.
Now observing, he could see that the heart rates of the vampires around him were starting to drop. When he listened closely, his as well was starting to deteriorate. And not just that, his thirst for blood had receded as well.
Not wanting anymore of it, he tried to pull off the tube connected to him and at the other end the human from which he got blood from but found out it was just as painful as it seemed impossible.
The human he derived blood from looked to be an average man probably in and around the age of thirty.
What Finn didn't know was that attaining such age as a human perhaps was to be applauded considering the different roadblocks that stood in the way of achieving that.
Nonetheless, the human appeared too exhausted to care to look at the vampire his blood had been fed to. And Finn on the other hand was too distracted with trying to pull out the tube stuck in his arm to care in the first place.
"Taking too much blood destabilizes my blood/flesh equilibrium and with my present situation, I can't exactly rely on the assurance that flesh will always be available. Which is why I need to get this thing off of me before it tips my equilibrium!!!"Finn said and pulled hard on the tube. While it hurt more than most pain he had endured, he discovered something through all of it. He wasn't the only one being hurt by it as his human source and himself eventually looked at themselves and right then Finn could tell not just from the slamming of his feeble fist on the blood wall that the human was in severe pain.
Given that there were several vampire pawns around the vampire prisoners to control the distribution of the blood, the one beside Finn also jerked and ultimately, his red eyes returned to their normal state and although an unfriendly gaze from the vampire pawn stared towards his way, he did nothing in response. The second class vampire soon removed his hilt from the blood wall and stood there waiting.
Soon enough, he realized that first, the prisoners came to before the vampire pawns removed their hilt from the blood wall. And just like his turn, it didn't change that the tubes were still stuck in their bodies.
The blood flow had stopped because of the removal of the hilt and the control of the blood channelling.
But as all vampire pawns came to, They proceeded to each of the five crystals used to draw the line of the ground and with their hilt, they touched each of them.
Immediately this happened, the red blood wall began to collapse. It faded out of sight like a mirage of some sort. And when it did, the hilts in their hands glowed fiercely red a single time before assuming their black colour all the markings showed on it.
"Line up and prepare to return to your cells. Do not attempt any drastic move as you'd pay for such courage!!"the third class pawn who remained standing a fair distant said.
While they prepared and waited for the third class vampire pawn to order their return, eventually, they waited and he got the chance to see that truly, the humans were living in a deplorable state. Not just that, those brought forth to be used as unwilling yet forced to cooperate blood donors were looking even worse than the average population.
This was because they were being used not once but a couple of times until they couldn't hold out anymore. Then they were discarded and a new batch took their place.
As Finn and the others walked back to their various cells, he had time to think about some of his discoveries.
-The tactics employed by the vampires is quite effective I must say. They have deviced numerous strategies over the centuries ensuring their fast growth in power as well as in numbers. So much needs to be explained and so much to uncover- Finn thought.
And as they got into their cell, he realized he was back inside with the same grown up vampires again who all smelled differently compared to the normal scent he was used to from vampires. Although the scent of those he was familiar with varied to a certain degree, it wasn't as fleshed out as these ones.
"Now, with our hunger sorted out, lets move on you, "a fairly large one amongst the male vampires began to walk up to him and said.
