Finn had only seen this many people days ago. But even then, the sheer numbers he saw from the high platform only made him realize how plenty the vampires were. And they all had one thing.
They all possessed a terrifying aura that he wasn't informed about and had walked right into unprepared. The combined aura of the crowd of vampires threatened to topple him over. His knees felt shaky as he struggled to maintain his composure. He wondered if they could sense his weakness as he did this.
"It's fine"...
He heard a voice and felt a touch. When he turned around, he discovered his mother and sister were already on the stage with him.
Agatha placed his hand on his shoulder firmly but it was soothing to his surprise. At that moment, he realized something.
"Her touch...it's warm, "Finn thought as he felt his mother's palm on his shoulder.
It then occurred to him that it had been this way since he was but a baby. From his experiences when he came in close contact with other vampires, their skin had always felt cold to him. But his mother's case was different.
"Does this have anything to do with how close they are to being humans? But that can't be true unless Juan is of a higher pedigree. Since she is the daughter of a vampire who is at the bottom class, it is expected that she would follow the same route. Unless her father is of a different pedigree to our mother. That way, variation will surely take its place, "Finn analysed.
The stage they were on now was a very familiar one to him even as a spawn. This was because it was the same stage set for human slaughtering.
The stench of blood still oozed around the stage and if sorrow was visible, Finn could see it all around him. The large collecting vessel that was prom The area they stood on only reminded him of one thing, DEATH.
As Finn looked through the crowd, he observed something. Apart from the open area where he had killed the youngling the last time, there appeared to be an obvious and significant spacing done in the lineups.
He noticed that in a subtle manner, the vampires had all divided themselves into visible strata. What caught his attention the most was how the spawns were seemingly placed in one place all mixing together but the adults segregated themselves from one another.
"Their pedigree must still be hard to predict. It makes sense seeing that people from the first and those from the second level caves aren't standing together but their younglings are all mixed up even up to the final level. Which makes me wonder, does the king have a spawn?"Finn thought as he looked into the sea of vampires. They were so many yet it felt like he could recognise each one's thoughts towards him.
"Over the past few months, we have witnessed an uprising in frequent trouble. But it has never been too much that I cannot handle. And I assure you, that won't change. Be it an attack from those filthy dogs or whatever the case may be, your King is solidly on ground!!!!"King Shola announced vehemently. The vampires cheered as he said these words. He went on to say...
"As said before, every situation threatening the safety of you all has been tackled by me. But there are a few exceptions. And one of them happens to be standing in front of you all. Behold!!! The spawn who has been the talk of the nest for his abominable act!!!"King Shola said and pointed at Finn who was not at all looking concerned about the situation.
"He looks remorseless!!!.. Killing one of your own and feeding on them?!!!"
"How can this abomination be from Agatha? She has contributed immensely to the cave,"
"Look at his eyes and to think he was the prophesied one with those eyes of a monster. Always knew that witch had something wrong with her divination,"
"But it was further verified by the wall of fate!!"
This and many more thoughts spewed out of the mouths of the vampires at the nest square.
"As always, with cases beyond our grasp, we contact the wall of fate to seek direction from the gods, "One of the bishops spoke.
By now, it was almost a norm that they spoke with the veil on their faces. With this, no one bothered to try and decipher which one of them had spoken or what said person looked like because achieving that was not possible since it was public knowledge that the bishops never revealed the faces.
"The wall of fate, fortunately as always, has come forth to show us the fate of this spawn. And now it is our duty to enforce measures to make sure that he meets his fate!!" another bishop spoke.
"In sixty days, the nether gates will be opened and the spawn will be sent there, "Bishop Tinibu said.
It was evident that the crowd of vampires weren't likely well-wishers of Finn. And as such, it was expected that such a declaration would be met with joyous celebration from the crowd.
But after seconds of silence, as there was no reaction from the vampires, it became evident that something was not right.
"The neither??!!!"
"How can he be sent there?!"
These thoughts were passed around in the crowd. The majority of them said these words silently. But one voice stood out of them all...
"Not only did you kill my youngling, but you have doomed us all. Another nether gate opening at its because of you!!" a female vampire pushed her way through the horde of vampires. She was left unchallenged as she bypassed the large containment vessel lying on the ground for blood storage.
She made a beeline for Finn all while her eyes were blood red and her teeth elongated.
