What happened during the war between the God's were a secret to humans, but everyone knew the end result. The Heavenly King, Lord Father used up all his powers to destroy the Demon King and completely sealed off the passage between their world and the demons.
By the time the Gods reacted, Adam had already killed off all his companions except one of them, Marcus. Marcus had always been at odds with Adam from the beginning. He saw through his facade of gentleness, since his face may indeed show gentleness but his eyes couldn't hide his contempt towards fellow human beings.
Even though Marcus was at odds with Adam, he got along with everyone. But because he was always against him, his companions slowly separated from him and started ostracising him for being weak and jealous of Adam.
He survived, but he felt it was worse than death. His companions died while he who knew the culprit, couldn't do anything since he was too weak. He was the weakest amongst them, what miracle could a weakling even bring about.
Thus, he left a message for his descendants to be careful of Adam and that they are to do their duties responsibly and never to deal with the souls of the living. People other than his descendants who received remnants of his soul also became Soul Mages.
But due to the notoriety of the Soul Mage named Adam, people began fearing Soul Mages and anyone who could see or communicate with Souls were deemed as harbingers of misfortune and death.
Parts of history about this matter are still unclear and covered up. No one knows if he's still alive or not. But unlike with the case of the Ancient dragon, atleast a major part of the situation is still known. But the matters of the Ancient Dragon is shrouded by a thick veil of mystery.
Since the time Adam offered the part of the God's Authority given to his ex-companions, to the Demon King who's name is not to be uttered, the God of Death lost a part of his authority to control Souls to the Demon King.
As a demon, he was more compatible with death than life so, he tried stealing the complete authority from Death but his plans were thwarted by the God of Life. There is even a mention in an article somewhere that these two God's were a couple.
Well, that's not our major concern here, but after the War between Gods and Demons, Death and Life realised their mistake. They shouldn't have given their authority to weaker beings just to make things easier for them.
But since his authority was just stolen, he couldn't retrieve the scattered parts of his authority. So with the remaining authority to control Souls, he made it so that the Souls cannot be controlled without proper communication between the controller and the soul.
That gave the needed protection to weaker souls, since even in normal circumstances these poor souls are unable to communicate and have no sentience or any awareness at all. They just roam around.
And Souls that are very strong can communicate with others, but their words when heard by a human becomes incomprehensible. Thus this communication barrier serves as a protection just as in the case above.
These souls are in better situation compared to the weaker one's. They can break their restraints and obtain a corporeal body should they focus on gaining more strength, their methods to gain strength still unknown.
But, even if they do obtain a corporeal body, it can only be maintained for a while and communication is still impossible. Nobody knows what restrictions or protections were given to live souls.
And all her life Adriana only came across these two types of Souls. Hearing the ethereal voice she was scared because the soul in front of her was clearly a dead soul. That means communication between them should be absolutely impossible. Yet, here is a ghost who had just spoken to her.
["Umm hello... Don't tell me you are shocked silly. Oh dear what do I when my descendant has become silly."]
Adriana reacted immediately when she heard the word descendant, 'Ahh that explains it, the exception in the restrictions were only blood relations can communicate. How silly of me.'
Adriana adopted a respectful tone, " Pardon my prior actions if they seemed rude Elder, but are you from my maternal or paternal side of the family?"
["Look closely at my appearance and tell me your answer. And don't call me Elder, you make me sound old you little brat."]
Adriana looked at the ghostly beauty carefully, her beauty rivals any women she had ever seen. But what stood out the most was the colour of her eyes, they had a beautiful golden tint. On closer look, it didn't seem to belong to a human. Suddenly, the woman's pupils turned into slits, jolting Adriana back to her senses.
"A Dragon !!!", Adriana exclaimed.
