Chapter 102 - Investigation, 102.

A faint tension hung in the air as Aster and Damián drove back, searching for a place to abandon the small truck they had stolen. Once they finished discarding the vehicle and arrived at the gallery, the silence between them was filled with unspoken thoughts, both aware of the weight of their recent actions. The plan had been executed with precision, but they knew that, once again, in this new life, the essence of death hovered around them like a cold presence etched into their bones.

Even so, Damián sighed deeply, feeling the momentary relief of being free of immediate suspicion. Mason was waiting for them, monitoring everything from his position in the gallery, and he approached them immediately.

"And now?" Mason asked, his anxiety evident in his voice.

Damián felt the weight of those words and the reality of their actions unfolding before him. "We eliminate any suspicion. We left no traces."

Aster agreed. "It's over. I don't believe we have anything to fear."

As they went about their workday, the atmosphere in the gallery was one of intense concentration. Each of them knew that the slightest mistake could mean their downfall.

The next morning brought a sense of normalcy, but it was like peering into the darkness, seeking to live out their own destiny.

Following his usual routine, Damián went to resolve programming and adjustments with Emeline. He had promised Adam he would stay home for a few days, but he needed to ensure his everyday life at the gallery remained intact.

Meanwhile, at the police station, the atmosphere was buzzing with activity. Detectives were gathered, analyzing every detail of Fredrick's report and the circumstances of his death.

"We have a possible cause of death: a heart attack," announced one of the medical examiners. "But there's a needle mark on his arm; we need to investigate further."

The lead detective, an experienced and perceptive figure, frowned. "We can't rule out the possibility of poisoning. We need a full toxicology report."

As two days passed, the investigation intensified.

"The police are now treating Fredrick's death as a homicide," said Detective Chase, speaking with Detective Rony, concern evident in his voice. "They're exploring all possibilities, and they believe the margin for error is minimal."

For Detective Chase, the webs of investigation and secrets were beginning to intertwine dangerously. Detectives Chase and Rony were immersed in the details of the case, their serious expressions reflecting the gravity of the situation. Chase, a middle-aged man with graying hair and keen eyes, sat behind his desk cluttered with papers.

Rony, a young detective with sharp eyes and boundless energy, was beside him, examining the latest photos of Damián and Aster. "We can't ignore the fact that Omega Damián is our main suspect," Chase said, his voice laden with concern. "He has the profile and the motives. And considering his involvement with Aster, the two have succeeded in their social climb."

Rony nodded, his eyes fixed on the photos. "They've become celebrities. Everyone wants to know about their lives, which only complicates our job. Every move they make is followed by the media."

Chase picked up one of the photos, examining it closely. "We need to look beyond the beauty of these two social climbers and criminals. There's something deep and dishonest going on here. And we have new information about the Kadman driver," Chase asked.

"Yes," said Rony, consulting his notes. "The information provided by Fredrick Lund indicates that the driver was used in a plan to spy on the Kadman family."

Chase stood up, determined. "Let's go to the driver's house. We need to investigate this now."

The detectives arrived at the driver's house. Mr. Mitchell was a middle-aged man with a tired face and alert eyes. Mitchell greeted them with a mixture of curiosity and nervousness.

"Mr. Mitchell, we're here to discuss an espionage allegation against the Kadman family," Chase began, his voice firm. "We've received information about a possible spying device in your charger."

Mitchell seemed surprised but cooperative. "I...I don't know anything about that. But you can investigate whatever you want."

The detectives followed the driver to his residence, where his house was searched. They began examining all the devices and chargers meticulously. It didn't take long for Rony to find something unusual in the cellphone charger.

"Here it is," said Rony, showing Chase a small transmitter disguised inside the charger. "This confirms our suspicions."

Chase studied the transmitter, his mental gears working quickly. "We need to inform the captain immediately."

"Mr. Mitchell, you must accompany us to provide clarification."

Back at the police station, Chase and Rony went straight to the captain's office, a robust man with an authoritarian posture and eyes that seemed to see through people.

"Captain, we have a major homicide case. We found a transmitter in the Kadman driver's house," Chase announced, recounting all the events.

"The main suspects are the omegas Damián Lyan Bowes, partner of Adam Kadman, and Aster O'Connell, new partner of Callum Campbell. The investigations are proceeding with some discretion, but there's a body, a missing person, and information checked and confirmed to be true."

The captain pondered for a moment, his gaze fixed on the detectives. "Good work. We need to keep this absolutely confidential while we tie up loose ends. Keep investigating all possibilities and keep me informed".

Captain Whitaker knew he was dealing with a complex network of crimes and suspects. The discovery of the transmitter was an important piece of the puzzle, and now they had to connect all the dots to get to the truth.

The atmosphere in Captain Whitaker's office was thick with the new revelations, unfolding into another investigation, prompting contact with Commissioner Farver.

Meanwhile, at the grand Kadman mansion, preparations for Taylor May's arrival were in full swing. After experiencing a near-death experience, she finally received the extraordinary news of being able to leave the hospital. Some of her friends and family were eager to welcome her to the Kadman mansion.

The huge double doors of the mansion swung open, revealing Taylor, still looking a bit pale but with a hopeful smile on her lips. At her side, her mother, Greta May, and her brother, Gunnar May, watched with mixed expressions of relief and apprehension.

"Welcome back, Taylor!" exclaimed Elizabeth Kadman, ready to embrace her gently. Accompanied by others, she enveloped Taylor in a warm and kind hug, conveying the significance of her recovery.

Greta May, always composed, watched the scene with a mixture of relief and admiration, realizing that Lady Elizabeth's feelings toward Taylor were genuine.

However, the grandeur of the Kadman mansion never failed to impress her. The walls adorned with artwork and the sparkling chandeliers reminded her of the immense wealth and power of that family; it was another world.

"Thank you, Lady Elizabeth," said Taylor, her voice still fragile but filled with gratitude. "It's good to be back home," Taylor emphasized softly.

Greta approached Lady Elizabeth with a polite smile on her face. "I'm immensely grateful for everything your family is doing for Taylor."

Elizabeth smiled gently. "There's no need for thanks, Mrs. May. Taylor is like family to us".

Meanwhile, Gunnar May, standing slightly back, watched everything with thinly veiled resentment. The opulence around him was almost suffocating. Every detail of the mansion seemed to whisper about the distance between his own reality and that of that family. He felt a growing hatred, fueled by the idea that his sister could have been the one welcomed into that mansion.

Taylor looked at her brother and, sensing his discomfort, tried to ease the situation. "Gunnar, are you okay?"

He just nodded, his lips pressed into a thin line. "Of course, Taylor."

The intimate reception continued, with Elizabeth doing her best to make Greta and Gunnar feel welcome. The house was filled with delightful aromas coming from the kitchen, where a feast was being prepared in honor of Taylor. The small gathering included Lady Elizabeth's brother's wife and their niece Mia, along with Sarah Campbell's nephews.

Greta, still impressed by the grandeur and luxury, found herself in a conversation with Sarah Campbell. "It's truly a beautiful house," she commented, trying to conceal her awe.

Lady Elizabeth smiled. "Thank you, Mrs. May. I hope you feel at home while you're here."

Meanwhile, Gunnar remained on the sidelines, observing everything with a tense expression. His thoughts were far from the warm reception. He was determined to learn more about the luxurious lives of the Kadmans and perhaps find a way to change his own destiny.

Meanwhile, Taylor felt comforted; arriving at the Kadman mansion conveyed to her a sense of home. She was home!

The next day, Damián, Aster, and Mason were at the art gallery, adjusting the final pieces of the new exhibition. The space was a stark contrast to the internal tension they all felt. Art has a way of bringing a sense of normalcy, even in the most adverse circumstances.

"We need to be careful," murmured Damián as he adjusted a sculpture. "I think I'm going to miss this place for a while. I promised to stay at the mansion."

Aster nodded, her eyes fixed on a painting. "I know. Everything is under control. There was no sign of fear among them."

Mason, who was adjusting the lighting, added, "We have to stay vigilant. The police may be one step ahead of us."

Elsewhere in the city…

At the police station, Detectives Chase and Rony were immersed in analyzing the case. Every camera from Frederick's exit to the Kadman hotel had been checked multiple times, and there was nothing. This detail added a layer of complexity.

The discovery of the transmitter in Mister Mitchell's house had been a significant breakthrough, but there were still many unanswered questions.

"What do we know about the connection between Damian, Aster, and Frederick Lund?" Captain Lawrence Whitaker asked the detectives, his eyes tired from examining documents.

Chase sighed, flipping through his own papers. "Not much beyond what we already have. We need more concrete evidence. Frederick's toxicology report was crucial, and Reese Davis is still missing".

The captain nodded, his expression grave. "We need to question why there are no camera images. This suggests that the images were manipulated or removed. With Damian and Aster's connection to the Kadman and Campbell families and how they benefited, we need to consider all possibilities. They are suspects not only in Frederick's death but also in the attack on Taylor by Clarice."

Rony agreed, his expression reflecting the seriousness of the situation. "We need to expand the investigation team. We have to track every move of Damián and Aster, as well as check all their contacts and possible accomplices."

Captain Whitaker gestured for Chase and Rony to approach. "I want you and Rony to coordinate this investigation with Detective Laura Parker and Detective Miguel Sánchez. We need all minds working on this. The priority now is to find any connection we can use to put them behind bars."

Meanwhile, Adam, Jared Phillips, and Gunnar May received an urgent notification about the unfolding of the investigations, with an urgent warning that close suspects had been identified.

"The police found substantial evidence in the Kadman driver's house. We need to gather," the information said, causing commotion and turmoil among those who received the news.

 Away from plots and discoveries…

Damián looked at Aster and Mason, who noticed an expression on his friend. "We have to be prepared," he said. "You're tense, Aster. It seems like the police could show up at any moment. Relax."

In the late afternoon, as they were finalizing the last details of the exhibition, the three were discussing their next actions when the gallery door opened. Detectives Chase, Rony, Laura Parker, and Miguel Sánchez entered; their presences were immediately noticed.

An employee approached them and directed them to Emeline.

Emeline greeted them kindly and immediately asked, "How can I help?"

Chase responded directly, "We're looking for Mr. Bowes and Mr. O'Connell."

Emeline returned a surprised look and then spoke, "Please, detectives, follow me."

Emeline accommodated the detectives in the meeting room, but as she left, she was surprised by Detective Rony, who, fearing a possible escape, accompanied her.

Damián, Aster, and Mason were taken aback by the agent, who was with Emeline.

"Mr. Bowes, Mr. O'Connell," and you, Mister …?" Chase began, his voice firm. Mason was in shock, like a criminal caught red-handed.

"Mason… Mason Gruber," he replied, trying to maintain composure.

As they entered the room where the detectives were, the detectives exchanged quick glances. Rony suspected Mason's fear and directly said, "Check the name Mason Gruber."

"We need you three to come with us to the police station," said Chase. "We have some questions about Fredrick Lund's death and the attack on Taylor by Clarice."

Damián tried to maintain composure, but the anxiety was evident. "What is this about, detective?"

Rony stepped forward. "We have some questions and require your cooperation. We've found some information that we need to verify."

Laura remained alert, watching for any signs of resistance. "Let's go with them now. We have a car waiting outside."

As they were escorted out of the gallery, Mason muttered to Damián and Aster, "This doesn't look good."

Outside, as they were being taken to the car, Chase received a message on his handheld device. He stopped abruptly, staring at the screen.

"Mason Gruber," he said slowly, "you're registered as missing. We need further clarification about your identity and your whereabouts in the past few months."

Mason swallowed hard, his soul trembling, knowing that things were about to get even more complicated. "I can explain," he said, trying to sound confident. "I have issues with my family."

The detectives, now even more suspicious, continued with the escort, aware that they were dealing with an increasingly intricate case.

Of course, here's the revised part of the paragraph, including the joint interrogation conducted by the Captain:

At the police station, the atmosphere was tense as Damian, Aster, and Mason were led into an interrogation room. Captain Lawrence Whitaker was present, knowing that without physical evidence and only Fredrick's words, the approach would have to be careful. The room was cold and austere, reflecting the seriousness of the situation. The captain stared at the three omegas, aware of their connections to powerful families.

"Gentlemen Bowes, O'Connell, and Gruber," began Captain Whitaker, accompanied by Commissioner Farver with his firm and authoritative voice. "We need to discuss some serious issues. You're here because we have information that needs to be clarified about Fredrick Lund's death, the attack on Taylor by Clarice, and, of course, the disappearance of Reese Davis. I propose we start from the beginning. What is your relationship with Fredrick Lund?"

Damián, Aster, and Mason exchanged calm looks, knowing that the next few hours would not be good.
