Chapter 1 - Comeback to us alive

A slight blast of air blew into the face of a young guy as a pair of double doors swung open. He took a gentle stride into the vast room, holding himself with dignity and prestige. His gray and black outfit matched nicely with the interior's gloomy tones, with computer displays providing the sole light against the dismal walls. As he strolled with his hands behind his back, chin up, and eyes fixed, the constant hum of the machinery was like music to his ears. His ear-length silver hair was precisely groomed and maintained nicely. As he strolled, his steely blue eyes swept the room, but he made it appear as if they never left the main display.

"General," an officer seated at his desk said, drawing the young man's attention. The general's demeanor never wavered, and his eyes never blinked as he maintained the man's place in them.

"What is it?" he inquired calmly and monotonously.

"Two of our men out by the desert post have noticed something, and we think it could be a knight," the officer said, a tiny sparkle in the general's eyes at the mention of the title used when referring to a Geno Official Committee officer.

"Sir," said another official, attracting the superior's attention. "We're receiving an incoming transmission from our desert station," the other official said, turning the general's gaze to the enormous screen on the far wall of the room.

"Put it through," he said, and the officer did it immediately. The dazzling screen quickly faded to gray and filled with static. The sound echoed around the room, but the general didn't appear to bother. His frigid eyes were fixed on the screen, waiting for the message.

"General Dela Roca," said a voice over the static. "We've spotted a knight."

"Explain," General Dela Roca urged.

"It's a lady, possibly in her late teens or early twenties, who is now without her Geno," the general responded with a cruel smirk.

"You two know what you're doing," he said. "Take good care of her."

In the vast room, a loud beeping noise bounced off the walls. The officials inside were all attempting to figure out where it was coming from, but no matter how hard they tried, they couldn't seem to find it. The alarm wouldn't stop ringing, and the loudness was exacerbated by the room's circular shape.

The men at their workstations were all clicking away at their computers, attempting to find out what was going on. They'd be able to display the message on the enormous black screen at the front of the room as soon as they received it. They needed to figure something out, or else the cacophony would drive them all nuts.

The room's doors were flung open, pounding noisily against the metal walls. Two men and a lady entered, each dressed in a military-style uniform of grays and browns. They proceeded towards the main monitor, keeping an eye on the officials around them.

"What exactly is going on here? And what is that noise?" inquired the man in front, his dark green eyes are showing his irritation.

"We're not sure yet," one of the officials said, typing quickly on his keyboard.

"Sir!" An official yelled from the right, and the man turned to face him, waiting for him to continue. "There's an incoming transmission...a distress message. It's coming from the western desert," the man grumbled before turning to face the primary screen in the room.

"Get that on the monitor," he urged. The official followed orders. The screen became blank, but it was quickly filled with an image of a female.

"General Gornal," the young woman said into the voice communicator. She was speaking into a gadget barely larger than a watch that was fastened onto her wrist. "I have a minor issue," she added. As she sprinted forward, her silvery blue hair swayed madly back and forth. Her cherry-colored eyes were worried, but only one of them was visible. Her straight, shoulder length hair covered the left side of her face, not looking too troubled by her racing.

"What's going on, Cassandra?" General Gornal inquired.

"I got into a little trouble in the desert," she stated, earning the general's irritated frown.

"This was only an observation expedition," he explained, his left eye twitching slightly. "What actually happened?"

"Well..." she started, but gunfire from behind forced her to dive down and run.

"Cassandra, answer me," he ordered, trying not to sound worried.

"They kind of found me while I was monitoring them," she explained. "I don't have my Geno, sir," Gornal grumbled again as he clinched his fists. "I ask for assistance."

"I can leave," answered the official by Gornal's side, a man with light blond hair and crystal blue eyes. "Please send me," he said, as the screen jerked, and the connection weakened.

"I'm losing my connection," Cassandra murmured, her voice trembling. The screen then went dark, leaving the room with the familiar hum of static. Everyone remained silent.

"Brixton," Gornal said, drawing the blonde's attention. "I want you to take your Geno and travel out to the desert, find Cassandra, and bring her back," Brixton nodded in response as he stepped away from his general. Gornal just looked to the monitor, a mournful expression on his face. Cassandra, please come back to us alive.
