'First the issues of the camp, then the leaders going against my wishes. And now this.' Cadin mounted his white fur coated steed, in front of his unit of cavalrymen all awaiting his orders just outside the camp they resided in, all carrying torches as the sun finally descended below the horizon, the moon slowly rose up in it's place.
The camp was cleaned of any remaining rubble and corpses, all that is left now is to embark on the battle. Fifteen in total were under Cadin's command. All wearing strong metal armor and studded leather armor, holding long spears with their hands and resting short swords on their sheathes.
The trainers stayed inside with the other soldiers, tending to the last horses available.
Cadin took out his map to review the plan again, 'Five camps in total are on the map, all are near to the united tribe borders so it should not take long.' As he finished, Joken arrived from behind, bearing news from the last leaders left that managed to survive.
"My lord, the proposition you have sent has returned with high approval by all the remaining leaders. Due to their focus on repairing the area, they have given you full responsibility on this attack at the cost of giving them the resources and half the prisoners taken, though you may keep the camps themselves. They shall send groups of any free footmen they could provide, mostly from the rear camps to take their side of the deal. Due to our camp's quickness in fortifying and repairing compared to the others, some refugees will seek shelter in the camp, they are currently heading there as we speak." Joken reported, carrying his longsword for combat in his right hand and the horse lead on the other.
Cadin turned to his men in front of him, beginning to speak once more. "Brothers, we have suffered against a sudden and violent attack from many tribes of the outside. We have suffered many deaths and far more injured, our ally's camps have been burned or ransacked of what they had. This cannot go unpunished, especially with how much was lost. We shall charge forward towards their camps, and in rapid assaults, wipe out the defenders and find any prisoners to take. Once this is all over, we may return with glory and bringers of retribution against a daring enemy!" The soldiers roared in pride, readying themselves for the attacks they shall perform.
Cadin looked at his map again, analyzing the paths heading out of the forest and to the camps outside of it. Through sections of dense trees and on open pathways.
"Behind me brothers, the war has started, and it shall end quick." With a tug on the lead, Cadin's horse ran forward in full speed. The torches continued burning into the night, an aura of light moved with them through the forest, making it nearly visible to see as Cadin continued leading forward. The hooves of their horses slammed into the dirt in quick succession, creating loud echoes into the area around them.
After minutes of fast movements through trees and on pathways, they arrived outside the forest. A new world awaited them outside of it. Grasslands as far as the eye can see with faint sillhouettes of mountains far off in the distance. The unit stood in awe at the land, many having never seen such beautiful open landscapes of short grass and unobscured light from the moon.
Cadin took in the scenery for a short while, before tugging on the lead and moving forward. The others followed behind him. He could feel as the cold winds hit him, his cape fluttered far more and the torches of the soldiers started getting smaller, constantly bombarded by an unopposed wind compared to the forest.
Soon, they could see the light of fires emanating from a camp not so far from them. Cadin observed the light, an orange tint illuminated the area above it.
'Must be one of the camps.' Cadin tugged the horse to turn to look back at the soldiers.
"The first of the camps, we shall awaken them with a roar of a vengeful army and kill those who try to fight. A group of soldiers await us to finish with the attack, let us not keep them waiting."
The unit began moving rapidly towards the camp, staying close to each other as soldiers readied their spears for the attack, clenching it to aim downwards at the enemy.
The camp itself was open with a few stakes surrounding it, white tents stood around a large fire that provided light to the camp. People walked around, some warriors and some simple civilians.
As they got closer, the silent atmosphere was broken by ear splitting screasm of the soldiers, splitting away from one another, making their steeds run faster towards their enemy.
The camp's people turned in horror at the approaching cavalry, quickly many started grabbing any weapons they could find. Axes, swords, daggers, anything they can use to fight. Soldiers ran just outside the camp, readying their small shields and spears to hold them back.
"Break through and kill the soldiers brothers!" Cadin shouted out, a loud cry followed from a now highly motivated cavalry unit.
The horsemen charged around the loose assortment of stakes pointing slightly upwards.
In just seconds, the line of soldiers around the camp was broken. Spears impaled through the leather armored men, ripping through them and lifting them off the ground, before being thrown aside as the wave slammed through the camp, spraying the blood of soldiers as they screamed in pain and fear. Civilians hid for cover at the sjdden attack, dropping their weapons and running to cover or to the tents.
The horses rushed through the camp, emerging out the other side with blood staining their armor, weapons, and steeds.
"One more assault brothers! They shall fall!" Cadin yelled out, turning his horse to face the camp once more as the last soldiers lumbered forward, still attempting to defend.
Corpses of impaled fighters lay on the ground, many outside of it.
Blood dripped down Cadin's sword as they rushed onward for one final strike, reaching closer and closer.
