Leander could see that she was shivering.
"Are you cold?" he reached for her.
She jumped in fright and stepped backward. "I'm fine," she said. She didn't even bother to smile or look at him.
Leander didn't know what to say to her. She was overreacting. Nothing has gone wrong. He came to her at the right time. But she is still scared. What can he do?
He covered her shoulders with his jacket. She was bowing her head avoiding to look at him. That hurt him.
His mother shouldn't have barged into his room like that.
"Look," he grabbed her shoulders. "You are my wife!" he said.
I will protect you.
She looked at him gingerly and nodded. She still didn't look very convinced. That did not make him feel good at all. He didn't know what else he could do to convince her that she won't be in danger. His felt helpless in front of her. He did not like the feeling at all.
Why can't she trust him more?
