CHAPTER 2
Okay so Harriet and her team were stuck with in a jam. Aubrey was still behind his computer watching his friends from a satellite feed.
"Transport is one minute out," he said over the earpiece
"Wait you're telling me that we did all that in under five minutes?" Dash asked in a surprised tone as the unknown vehicles came to a halt directly in front of them
"You know these guys?" Rick whispered into Randolph's ear. Randolph shook his head.
"So um... Before you guys die I_," Aubrey began but was interrupted by Dash.
"We're not gonna die!" Dash said
"Either way I just wanted to say that the tinned fish thing you did earlier...,"Aubrey said,"...it really sucked"
They all laughed except Dash who felt kind of offended
"I'm gonna kill you man," he hissed then someone else's laughter echoed through the comms. Harriet instantly recognized the voice. "Is that Jerry?" she asked surprised.
"That's right girl!" Jerry shouted over the noise of the propellers of his Bell jet chopper. Jerry had helped her escape from Abdul Aziz's men after Jake Harper had made the ultimate sacrifice that she would never forget.
"Aubrey tells me you're stuck in a jam?"
"Yeah," Harriet replied as one of the unknown vehicles' doors opened and a well-polished black shoe stepped on the ground.
Harriet's eyes widened as she took note of the shoe it had a French touch to it. She shook her head hoping it wasn't who she thought it was.
The man stood up and leaned over the door. It was Will Frankfurt, CIA General Secretary and to put a cherry on that Harriet's boyfriend.
"Sorry to drop in uninvited like this," Will smirked at Harriet. Under normal circumstances she would have found that sexy but given the current situation she didn't think so.
"What the hell are you doing here!" Harriet shouted
"CHIEF sent me to personally buy the codes for the US," he replied as guards who wore black Kevlar armour, a black helmet, standard issue boots as well as held M16A2 assault rifles surrounded him.
CHIEF sent him? How was that possible? Yet again knowing CHIEF, anything was possible. Harriet was in a state of self-conflict. What was going on? CHIEF made it clear that he only wanted her team for this one. Something was wrong and she could feel it.
"Jerry you weapons on that thing?" Harriet whispered
"Yeah I got three rockets," Jerry replied. Just enough for a distraction, Harriet thought
"Alright on my command you fire them blindly for a distraction then you lay low got it?" She said.
"Aye aye captain"
She only hoped her instincts were right.
"So you wouldn't mind handing over the codes then?" Will outstretched his arm
"Of course not," Harriet replied as she slowly moved towards Will.
"Well this is interesting," Aubrey muttered as he munched on a chip.
Harriet got a closer look at the guards behind Will and was able to analyze them. They weren't CIA she realized. Sure they wore Kevlar, held semi-automatic rifles and black helmets making it hard to recognize them but the way they stood and held their weapons was different from the way the CIA did it. It might sound weird but she was trained to pay attention to every detail.
When she was an arm-length from Will, he tried to snatch the briefcase from her but she pulled it away and forced a playful giggle.
"This is weird," Dash said and Rick nodded while Aubrey laughed his heart out.
"This isn't the time for your games," Will growled and she continued to giggle.
"Can I ask you something?" she said playfully
"Yeah sure anything"
"How come you don't have our men with you?" Harriet quickly killed the giggles as she landed a kick in between Will's legs. He groaned in pain and as he bent his head down to hold on to his balls for dear life, she slammed the briefcase in his face with such a force that knocked him to the ground.
"Jerry now!," she signaled and before Will's guards could react, a rocket landed next to one of Will's cars carrying dirt off the ground and launching some guards the air.
Harriet raced back to her team. Before the guards could come to their senses Jerry had the second rocket unleashed. Adrenaline kept Harriet running as fast as she could.
"Rick. Dash. Car," she commanded. It wasn't the full sentence but she was glad to see Rick and Dash carrying Randolph towards one of his suburbans.
As she opened the door to the drivers' seat Jerry had the final rocket launched away.
"Sorry guys but I'm out of rockets," Jerry said
"It's alright," Harriet replied as she started the car, "thanks again"
"Anytime"
Harriet vigorously shifted the gear to reverse and she stepped on the gas till the paddle was a few inches off the floor.
The tyres kicked gravel off the ground as Harriet managed to turn the vehicle away from the battle.
When they reached the main road, Rick, who was in the front passenger seat, asked, "So what now?"
Harriet squeezed the steering wheel aggressively before relying to Rick's question.
"We get Randolph to a nearby hospital while Aubrey can figure out how we get off the hell of this island," she said.
*******************
"Wow," Dash said as he looked at the small yacht that Aubrey had rented, "how'd you even get this beauty?"
"I knew a guy," Aubrey replied
They were standing at the port with their bags.
"Well what are we waiting for?" Dash said as he got on the boat excitedly.
"You guys go on," Harriet told them while taking out her phone. Dash and Aubrey left first leaving only Rick who looked at her. "What is it?" Harriet
"Nothing. Are you alright?" he asked
"About Will"
She sighed, "Yeah I'll be alright" Of course not.
"Well if you ever wanna talk," he placed his hand on her shoulder, "I'm always available"
She smiled and slightly nodded, then he got on to the boat. She dialed Kate's number so that she could fill her in.
*
Kate was still trying to wrap her head around what Will had told everyone. Harriet and her team had gone rogue? Kate couldn't believe it; well Will did say the same thing with a broken heart and everyone understood why. Harriet was Will's girlfriend I mean it had to hurt him more, Kate thought. She groaned as she rested her head on her desk in exhaustion. Her phone was lying right in front of her when it suddenly rang playing 'take you dancing by Jason Derulo' as her ringtone. She looked at the screen to see Harriet's face flash on her screen.
She took a deep breath before she raised her head and reluctantly answered the phone.
"What do you want?" Kate said flatly
"Whoa attitude," she heard Harriet laugh
"Well at least I haven't gone rogue like you"
*
"Rogue?" Harriet asked Confused before it hit her, "Is Will there?"
"Yeah came in like fifteen minutes ago" Kate replied.
Wow that was fast, Harriet thought. It had only been two hours since they're encounter. "Kate listen Will isn't who he says he is" Harriet later said.
*
Is she serious?
"Stop lying to me," Kate hissed
"I'm not lying. He wants to get the codes for something else"
"There's no proof. Will was at his house this whole time"
"Alright you want proof?" she heard Harriet ask
"Obviously"
*
"Fine. Did Will by any chance come in with a broken nose or a black eye?" Harriet asked and surprisingly heard Kate laugh.
"That is funny because he has both. Said he fell down the stairs.....unless you gave him those," she said with a laugh
"Yeah"
"Alright no way I'm letting my best friend screw up on her own," Kate whispered.
"Thanks. Talk later" Harriet said with a weak smile as she hung up.
Harriet got on board and she at the table where Rick and Aubrey were seated while Dash was driving the boat but he wasn't that far.
Harriet filled them in on everything and when she was done Rick stood up and went towards the rims of the boat. He ran his fingers through his blonde hair.
"So what now?" he asked
"I suggest we lay low." Aubrey replied and Harriet nodded
"Well since we're fugitives we can't use our usual safe houses!" Dash shouted
"I know someone who can help," Harriet said before muttering to herself,"....and he's not gonna be happy".
