Title: Chunin Exams 1
***
Shun POV.
Looking through the floorboards into the hall where the exams was being taken, I couldn't help but smirk at Naruto's reaction when Ibiki mentioned the details of the exams.
Naruto was many things but studious was the least of them.
Despite my best efforts in making him study, I realised it was just like pouring water in a basket and hoping it would retain the water.
I was always amused as it reminded me of Ashura. However, Ashura did put in the effort.
Ashura would show his zeal to study since Indra and I were studying, but in the study, he'd be the first to doze off in less than 5 minutes of study.
However, one thing of note was that Naruto didn't seem panicked at all. Even with Hinata gesturing at him to copy from her answer sheet, he remained unfazed with jis hands crossed.
However the moment Ibiki explained the last question Naruto suddenly shivered.
"Are you okay Naruto?" Hinata asked but Naruto nodded before shaking his head. "I just felt like two people wanted to kill me for a moment."
"Oh... It must be Sakura and Sasuke. However, are you sure you want to take this last question?" She asked in concern.
"Of course." Naruto showed a bright smile. "From his words, if I do get this question right, I would be eligible to move on to the next part of the exams."
"Yeah...but..." Hinata sighed as he couldn't come up with something better to say. "You really should have put in more effort in studying."
"Haha, Hinata-chan, there something you need to understand about studying..." Naruto said and took a pause.
"...Well, what is it?"
"Studying is for the weak, and as I'm already strong, studying will only limit my potential." The Uzumaki said with so much conviction that those seating beside him had to look at him twice.
"You..." Feeling speechless, Hinata simply sighed before turning to Ibiki and smiled. 'As expected of my Naruto. He's different.' She thought.
Meanwhile Naruto was actually sweating buckets as he didn't know how to go about cheating even if he could.
Due to his selflessness, he had first thought of how his actions would affect Hinata who would help him cheat as well as Sasuke and Sakura who he knew would pass this with flying colours.
However, as Shun would always tell him: "Confidence is the key to winning, even if you're failing, fail confidently so they would think you failed internationally."
...
"Hahahahahaha." Shun suddenly burst out laughing while Kakashi and Asuma were recounting their experience with Ibiki and how psychologically draining it could be to deal with him.
"Is something the matter Shun? Did we say something funny?" Asuma asked with a frown.
I understood he was trying to please Kurenai so I didn't bother with him and simply said. "some of our students are really interesting."
"Oh? Did something happen?" Kakashi asked.
"Of course. Naruto believes studying will limit his potential as it was created for the weak." I said as I began laughing again.
This was something really funny and true to a certain extent. Even on Earth, studying didn't really create any strong or rich men.
Time wasted in studying could be better used in making one self more productive by learning something creative or even training.
But still, that is still a part of studying, but considering the world I'm in, I can't help but think it's true to a certain extent.
Extreme force could destroy any and all forms of resistance when in a certain realm of existence.
"That's a peculiar way of putting it.." Asuma said.
"And for some reason I can't refute that." Kurenai added.
"Of course you can't. Look at this Cyclops here, how many months did he spend in the academy?" I asked pointing at Kakashi.
"Hey! Don't insult the looks."
"That's... surprisingly accurate."
"Of course it's accurate, then there's Itachi and my other friends in Konoha."
"I feel like it's your presence in their lives that made them as abnormal as they are now." Asuma said.
"Nonsense. Didn't you have the opportunity to? You were in the presence of this young master and his sister for a good three months and yet...here you are." I said with a disdainful look at the smoking Jounin.
"Hey! I'm still plenty strong." Asuma defended himself to which we all laughed and continued making small talk.
...
Maybe due to Naruto's confidence, he didn't bang on the table to motivate the other weak minded Genins, the number left in the room was 78..?
WHAT THE FU*K!?
Don't tell me some idiots still stayed... Wait, I understand my team still stayed as they're that confident but why is the number still 78..?
Don't tell me it's some form of fate playing with me...Right?
Tch. Whatever, just be done with...
Ibiki then went on to explain the purpose of the test as well as the implications of quitting.
It exposed the lack of confidence one has in his teammates as well as himself.
"As a team, you're like a fine thread. When one rope in the thread gets undone, the entire thread becomes useless and can be snapped easily." Ibiki said in a bid to better explain himself.
He also explained the purpose of the first test, which was information gathering, by taking off the clothe covering his head.
"Hahaha. I totally knew that. Right Hinata?" Naruto laughed proudly and asked Hinata who smiled and nodded. "Yeah."
'He totally had no idea.' Was the thought of nearly everyone in the room at that point.
"Oh? Seems like Anko is handling the next exams..." I suddenly said as I looked out of the room towards an approaching projectile.
"Fufufu. Anko-chan always like to make her presence felt." Kurenai laughed while covering her mouth...weird.
"Yup. I've met her on some important missions and one word to describe her is... Unique."
"You bet."
CRASH!!
Anko finally crashed into the building with the huge piece of cloth covering her and pinned them to the wall.
"You guys!! This is no time for celebration!" She declared as soon as she appeared. "I am the examiner of the second test. Mitarashi Anko! Now! Let's go!"
"FOLLOW ME!!"
However, no one in the hall moved as they all stared at her silently.
"Bad timing." Ibiki said as he pushed away the piece of cloth covering him.
Not minding her superiors words, she swept a glance at the genins and couldn't help but exclaim. "78,.!? Ibiki! You left 26 teams? The test seems to be too easy eh?"
"This time, there were a lot of outstanding guys..."
"Bah! But that's fine, I'll cut them by half at least during the second test." She saidand smiled creepily before asking them to follow her out.
"She really hasn't changed." Kakashi said as he flipped the book he began reading again.
"You've had some alterations with her?"
"Hmm. During my time in the Anbu." He said and flipped the page again.
"I see." I answered. Anbu relateda matters are always kept tight-lipped so I focused on Ibiki who just flipped Naruto's page and facepalmed.
"Hehehe, what an interesting guy." He said after recovering from his shock.
"So... is there a special place we can go and chill as the kids kill themselves?" I asked my three fellow Jounins who all looked at me with strange expressions.
"What?"
"You don't seem bothered at all?"
"Why should I? My kids are strong. Naruto and Sasuke are strong. I made sure of that. So why should I be bothered?" I asked back.
"And Sakura."
"Hmm?" I asked to understand what Kakashi was trying to say.
"And Sakura. Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura. They're a team." He repeated.
"Oh...Yeah. I know. She's strong too. They can all make it out together." I said and made to stand. "You lot should also be confident too right? You trained your kids well right?"
"Of course I did, but..." Asuma began before Scratching his cheeks.
"Well... my team are focused on information gathering so..." replied Kurenai.
"Oh... Well their lives are on you lot." I shrugged and made to leave.
"Well, this is peaceful times so training seems a bit-"
"Old fashioned?" I completed the sentence for him with a question. "I don't blame you. But you forget that we've lived in peace since we knew what war was, yet, we're still indisputably stronger than your village. Think about it."
Without waiting for them to reply, I disappeared, or rather slipped into my shadow so fast that they didn't notice.
...
Normal POV.
"That kid... He's still so rude." Kurenai said with a bit of anger at Shun's admonishment.
"Puff... He sure has the right to be." Asuma said after a puff of smoke. "He's strong."
"That's right. But at the same time, I can't help but think about what you said... Do you really think we're at peace?" Kakashi asked Asuma.
"Well, with us here..." Asuma began but didn't finish as he understood what the implications of his words meant.
"Sigh... Choji just wouldn't train as he's afraid of hurting Shikamaru. Shikamaru find Training a pain, and Ino just cares about her looks." Asuma complained. "What am I to do in that situation?"
Kurenai and Kakashi looked at him for a moment before Kurenai's turned to pity.
"Well, my team have their teamwork down, but Hinata is quite dominating that it's scary in a fight." Kurenai complained. "And I'm not a physical fighter so I don't know how to train her."
Kakashi merely chuckled as he flipped to the next page of his book. "It's a good thing I have Naruto and Sasuke in my team then."
"Right? You don't even have to train them, Shun does it all for you." Asuma said as he looked at Kakashi enviously.
"Well, who asked you to pick your team?"
"He's my Sensei." Asuma replied.
Shukaku was his team leader right from his time as a Genin as well as after he returned from serving under the Daimyo.
Rejecting Shukaku's request would be akin to biting the hands that fed him.
"Sigh..." he sighed and sucked in deeply from his stick of smoke.
"But it's okay... When they come out, they'll take training seriously." Kakashi said with an eye smile. "He did back then."
Asuma looked at Kakashi and suddenly felt like Kakashi looked a bit lonely from that comment and simply said. "He sure did."
(A/N: For those who don't know, I'm talking about Obito. After the Chunin exams, it was shown that he took his training more seriously. Also, Kakashi, Anko, Kurenai, Asuma, Guy and some other guys we all don't know are from the same class.)
****
A/N: I'm just going to do a little info dump in this chapter and then I'll ask your opinion on something.
1: If you find Naruto strange, don't. Remember his stupidity and ignorance stemmed from the fact that no one ever taught him a single thing, even iruka began paying attention to Naruto late in his academy days.
In this Timeline, he was taught a lot of things, not related to school but about life. He also had those who cared about him around him and even If the villagers still looked at him hatefully, it didn't bother him as he has Sasuke and his family as well as Shun and his sister.
Due to Shun's strength Danzo couldn't prohibit Naruto from entering the Uchiha compound due to it already being established that he and Itachi were best friends, and so are Naruto and Sasuke.
After the clan Massacre, Naruto and Sasuke still had Izumi, Hana Inuzuka and Shusui to show them love. Don't forget this. Despite not mentioning them, they are still alive and active.
As I had said earlier. This is a FF about Shun. Not Naruto or Sasuke. It's a book written on how I, as the author, perceive myself, should I be in Shun's shoes.
An observer in the beginning, a friend, brother, father, ancestor, Creator, son again, brother, friend, killer, assassin, and senior brother to Naruto and Sasuke.
I believe that should clear some doubts.
