Title: Prelude To The Second World War 1

...

Jiraiya POV

The Great Toad Sage's Prophecy said that I am Destined to train the revolutionary who will bring peace to this world. However, I haven't even encountered this disciple.

Maybe I should listen to that old man's words and live life as it comes. Perhaps it'll be my disciple who'll be coming to me and not the other way around.

...

General POV

And so, years passed and the little Flicker of peace in the Shinobi world was on the verge of collapse.

However certain clans and villages were still leaving in relative Peace, unaffected by the chaos the outside world was embroidered in.

Such villages included the Rather conspicuous Hanagakure and Uzushiogakure... However, Uzushiogakure were currently facing a rather disturbing situation.

As a village made up of only one clan and other minor clans, they were easy picking considering their small numbers and coupled with their unique expertise in Fuinjutsu, they were currently facing a rather despairing situation.

News of their imminent extermination at the hands of three out of the Five Major Villages had already reached their ears and despite their strengths, they knew they were no match for them.

If it was in the warring states era, they could hold their own against two to three clans, but now...? Their future was rather bleak.

As an allied nation, they had sent a letter requesting aid from Konoha-gakure but it seemed like the news didn't reach as Konoha didn't respond for a period of time.

Feeling betrayed, they decided to address their situation with their oldest living member, Uzumaki Mito, who understood their plight but was rather helpless as well.

In the spacious Senju compound, Mito currently wore a worried expression as she pampered the little Uzumaki girl sitting on her laps.

This was Uzumaki Kushina who was of royal blood in the Uzumaki clan. She was sent here in a bid to protect their bloodline in case they lost the war.

Another purpose was to have a suitable Vessel for the Nine Tail Fox after her nearing demise.

Although Konoha council were against this, they had no say in the matter as Konoha rules meant less to nothing to Mito.

"I may have a solution to this matter...but." Mito said as wore a contemplating look.

"But?" The lady who brought Kushina over asked with hope.

"But you'd have to Journey to a rather far location from here, plus it'll be a dangerous one considering the chaos ensuring our there." Mito said gravely.

"How far are you talking about, Mito-sama?" She asked.

"As far as the Amado seas."

Gasp! The lady gasped in shock... "Isn't that between Kumo and Iwa?" She asked.

"Hmm... You should have heard of them too. The little country with the might to go against all the major villages undeterred."

"You don't mean..."

"Hn. Hanagakure... They're reclusive to the things of the world and no Major Village dare war against them... Not since that incident." Mito said with awe in her tone.

"You mean the incident with the land of frost?"

"Hm. You may not know the full story, but a noble from the land of frost coveted their eyes due to its beauty and harmed one of them..." Mito began. "that entire village was razed to the ground...and do you know the shocking part of this?"

The lady shook her head.

"It all happened in the span of a single night."

"You can't be serious...right?"

"I'm afraid I am... Back during the warring states, we had an incident similar to this one... An entire Shinobi clan, exterminated in a single day... Word was that there was no survivors but..." Mito said and paused midway.

"Anyways, I would like to ask you to go there together with Tsunade. I believe they'll be more receptive with her there." Mito said to the still shocked woman.

"Receptive? You aren't sure they'll help?" She asked confused.

"No..." Bringing out two token from her sleeves, she said. " I'm sure they will."

...

Tsunade had just finished her session in Konoha hospital and was on her way back to the Senju compound when she saw her little brother, Kawaki stuffing his face with dangos by the roadside with a blond feminine looking boy beside him looking pitiful for some reason.

Slowly making her way behind them, she pinched him by the ear and scolded. "Kawaki-kun, what have I told you about eating this junk?"

"Ne-Nee-san!" The little boy stuttered with a horrified look on his face. "It's not what it looks like, I swear!"

"Oh? What does it look like then?" Tsunade asked with a smile that wasn't really friendly.

"I-I was just inspecting. Yes! Inspecting."

"Inspecting? What for?" Tsunade asked feeling puzzled. She had expected her little brother to lie and was prepared to counter every one of them but this one caught her off guard.

"You see, nee-san, as the future Hokage, I with my assistant here, Minato have to make sure the food served in the village are good for consumption. What better way to check than to check them out myself right?" Kawaki said, theore he talked the more even he himself was convinced of what he was saying.

"Is that so?" Tsunade asked looking sincerely curious. "Then what was the result of the inspection?"

"It's good, I approve and would like a daily update on it so there won't be any cases of food poisoning without my knowledge." Kawaki said with a bright smile causing both the old lady selling the dangos, Little Minato and Tsunade to look at him flabbergasted.

Puff.

Minato couldn't help it and let out a soft laugh breaking the atmosphere between them.

"Sorry Tsunade-san, I'm sorry for my friend." Minato bowed and apologized for his friend.

"Why are you apologizing? Did you do something wrong?" Tsunade asked.

"Well, he's my friend and I was aware he was told not to eat this, but I was powerless to stop him." Minato smiled wryly.

"Don't mind it. I don't blame you. If you could stop him then he wouldn't really be Kawaki, would he?" Tsunade smiled at him, Impressed by Minato's thinking at such a young age.

At this moment, a figure wearing a mask appeared behind Tsunade and knelt on one knee. "Lady Tsunade, Mito-sama request your presence."

Tsunade raised an eyebrow to that and nodded curtly signalling for the figure to disappear. Surprisingly, nobody seemed to notice this figure who just came and went.

"Alright, Minato, was it? I'll be leaving Kawaki in your hands, and as for you Kawaki." She looked at her teary eyed brother and said. "Your allowance for the month would be halved."

"Gasp... You wouldn't dare." Kawaki gasped in shock and looked at Tsunade directly in the eye despite her cold looks.

"I dare and I'm sure Oba-san would agree as well." Tsunade said as her cold looks went soft. "Okay, I'll be sure to keep watching you, mess up and I'll halve your now halved allowance."

After saying that, she left a terror stricken Kawaki to his devices and flickered back home.

"Ba-san!" She shouted as she directly kicked open the door to the compound.

"Tsuna-chan over here." She heard Mito's voice and looked over to see her sitted below a Sakura tree that has been there for as long as she could remember.

According to Mito, it was a gift from Aunt Mikoto but why It hadn't wilted after so long left her curious.

"What is it this time Ba-san?" Tsunade asked as she sat brashly on a chair in front of her. She noticed the red haired woman standing respectfully behind Mito and the little red haired girl sleeping peacefully on her laps.

"Elegance, Tsuna, a lady should be elegant at all times." Mito advised but this all flew over Tsunade's head.

"Elegance wouldn't save lives, Ba-san, and neither would it be needed in the battlefield." Tsunade said.

"Fufufu." Mito covered her mouth with her sleeves and laughed softly. "You seem to forget that this old lady has had her time on the battlefield as well."

"Well that was then when tactics and the likes probably haven't been developed. Also, I doubt Grandpa would allow you to fight on the battlefield." Tsunade crossed her hands and said.

"True. Anyways, I called you here for a reason." Mito said, "You remember Yatsuyo right?"

"Of course, I haven't seen her in hears doesn't mean I've forgotten her." Tsunade replied.

"Then how would you like to go pay her a visit?" Mito asked with a smile.

"... Seriously?" Tsunade asked hesitantly. "You aren't joking right? You'll finally allow me to go to Hana?" Her voice rising the more she spoke.

"Of course...but, only as a mission. You should know the current status of the Uzumaki clan right?"

"Hmm."

"Then you should also know Konoha should've sent aid over but hasn't." Mito said sadly.

"HM. Sensei said that our forces are spread too thin to provide aid as of now." Tsunade replied.

"Humph. Spread too thin? I think not... However, I couldn't care less now." Mito said and placed the two tokens on the table before Tsunade.

"What are these?" Tsunade asked as she picked one up and inspected it. "The carving looks... exquisite."

"Of course it does. It's one of a kind." Mito said with a smile. "As for what they are, they're something akin to an authority."

"Authority? Over what?"

"Over the decisions of Hanagakure." Mito said seriously.

"...You can't be serious right?"

"I am... Very much so." Mito said.

"Hmmmm.... I don't see it." Tsunade replied as she examined the tokens over again before dropping them on the table.

"These were given to me by my two close friends, Mikoto and Yuri."

"Aunt Mikoto?" Tsunade asked to which Mito nodded. "Her and Yuri, she's retired now and should be in Rōran. You should've also met her once but you were either to entralled in your childish frivolities to notice."

Seeing Tsunade attentively listening, Mito continued. "Back then Mikoto and Yuri were captains of two of the 10 Squads of Hana."

"Captain? Squad? How does that work?" Tsunade asked.

"Well, although I'd rather you find out yourself, I'll just give you a brief introduction." Mito said and went on to introducing the ranks and military make up of Hanagakure.

"That's.... surprisingly effective." Tsunade said in admiration.

"Of course. Although the other Villages copied our systems, we copied theirs but even so, we aren't really a match for them." Mito said in matter of fact tone.

"Ten Kage ranked Shinobi? Damn!" Tsunade cursed.

"Language young lady." Mito rebuked in a strict tone causing Tsunade to reflexively shudder.

"Anyways, Mikoto and Yuri gave me these two tokens back then and Kuchiki-nii did say that they'll listen to any demand I make as far as I have this token." Mito said. "With two, I can make two demands or make sure one demand is fulfilled perfectly well."

"So you want me to ask them to aid the Uzumaki as soon as possible with the two tokens?" Tsunade asked in an understanding tone.

"Nope."

"Eh?"

"Don't 'Eh' me. I want you to ask them to aid the Uzumaki clan and then reach you everything there is to know on medical Ninjutsu." Mtio said greatly shocking Tsunade and mildly hurting her pride.

She was proud of her expertise in medical Ninjutsu but she didn't dare say that as she was sure she couldn't really hold a candle to her grandmother.

"You may think you're well versed in Medical Ninjutsu, but many years ago, both Mikoto and I did meet in that little Place you were in for three years." Mito said knowingly as she looked directly at Tsunade who stiffened.

"How...? How did you know?" Tsunade asked in Shock.

"That doesn't matter, just know that my knowledge were also from there, but guess what?" Mito asked

"What?"

"During my time there, I focused solely on medical Ninjutsu, but was still easily owned by Mikoto." Mito said with an excited smile. "She spent two years basically fighting in the water plane and got her domain based entirely off of that, and do you want to know something interesting?" She asked as her excitement grew.

"She could go toe to toe with Hashirama back then. Although I know they both didn't go all out, I fear that with her Domain, she could potentially give Hashirama a fight of his life." Mito concluded and begun laughing remembering her youthful days.

"You can't be serious... Right?" Tsunade asked. Even the Uzumaki lady behind her was also shocked seeing and hearing Mito.

"I am. Very much so... Her mere presence in a Battlefield ensures that no one from her side dies. Do you understand what that means?" Mito asked.

"Her Domain is based on healing?" Tsunade asked. "Yup. And do you know how a domain is formed?" Mito asked. "HM, through ones will and chakra."

"Exactly and without the required knowledge, how can you will something you don't know?" Mito asked.

Tsunade had an understanding expression on her face before she then asked. "Then doesn't that mean they're basically overpowered?"

"It does, but not everyone is fortunate enough to form a Domain. I'm pretty sure Keshiro and Yatsuyo were amongst you lot over there so I'm pretty sure they would surely awaken one." Mito said. "Anyways, I need you to learn as much as possible from them,"

"And what of the Uzumaki clan situation?" Tsunade asked. "Don't underestimate them Tsuna, atleast don't underestimate the Tengoku clan."

...

As the Third's student, Tsunade could un-interupptedly come and go from the Hokage building at will.

As Orochimaru was currently in Kagero Village in the Land of Mountains, holding the fort there, Jiraiya was currently on a journey searching for the destined one, leaving only her in the village to oversee the injured.

Currently, she was the most qualified medic-nin Konoha had on hand so she couldn't really be deployed outside the village. The most she could do was train a few capable ones to be sent to their eventual deaths.

Unceremoniously entering the Hokage's office. "Old man, I'm leaving the village for a period of time." She directly said not minding her behaviour whatsoever.

"Tsunade, you still remember I am the Kage here right?" Hiruzen asked with a wry smile. This particular students of his whom he barely taught anything was simply getting more and more unruly.

He could do nothing to her and no matter whatever schemes he came up with, it would simply be ineffective for some reason, it was as though something was protecting her.

That was an interesting event played out. As a maiden growing up, it was an inevitability for her heart not to be moved by someone and luckily for him, this someone was his budding Anbu vice commander, Dan.

"I'm very much aware old man." Tsunade said and sat down opposite him while eyeing the Anbu hidden at all corners of the room. "I'm going to take a short break and go to Hana."

"What!?" Hiruzen asked in shock. "Hana as in Hanagakure?"

"Yup." Tsunade said smilingly.

"What for?" Hiruzen asked hoping to gain some info.

"Dunno. Even if I did it's confidential. Grandma's orders." Tsunade said and stood up. "I just felt like I should let you know."

"You know they're Dangerous right?" Hiruzen asked in a very serious voice.

"Yup. Grandma filled me in on it. Thankfully I do have friends from there. Plus, it'll be a good time to see my Godfather again." Tsunade replied as she turned around.

"Godfather? That's the first I'm hearing of this. Not to mention friends." Hiruzen said.

"There's a lot you don't know, not since you and your fuck buddies decided it was good to have a power play with Konoha's resources." Tsunade said unfriendly.

"You know that's not how it is." Hiruzen said.

"Dunno, don't care. I'm just going to be doing what I am doing for Konoha and Konoha alone." Tsunade said pointedly. "As for my Godfather, I think he's the first Hanakage or something, he was never really serious when talking about it."

"The First Hanakage? He's still alive?" Hiruzen asked in shock.

"Yup. As for these friends, I think calling them cousins would be adequate, afterall they're Grandma's best friend's children so we practically met since we were kids." Tsunade said and proceeded to leave the room.

"I hope you don't cause any diplomatic incident Tsuna." Hiruzen said and gave up trying to persuade her.

Most of the Anbu might not really understand what just happened but as a wizened man, he knew and understood the play Tsunade just pulled off.

She was basically telling him that she was practically untouchable and could, if necessary change allegiance if pushed.

She was loyal to Konoha and not to the person sitting on the chair he was sitting on, so she'd act accordingly and hopes he would too.

"They really do grow up fast don't they?" Hiruzen said and took a whiff of his tobacco stick. 'They really do grow up fast.'
