" Yup, there's no way I'm doing that and there's no way you would want that. My singing is terrible. How about a story instead?"
Philomel asked in a convincing way as if Little One understood what she was saying. Even though she knew that wasn't the case and Little One probably was too drowsy to even pay attention to her words.
" A long time ago, a young dark elf. Oh right if you haven't really noticed, I'm a dark elf and Amon is too. So know that we aren't some mystical creature like unicorns or stuff like that. We're real, just like you, okay?"
Philomel clarified, not wanting Little One to remember this as some sort of fairytale in some made-up land.
" Hmmm?"
Little One sleepily questioned wondering why Philomel stopped talking.
" Anyway, there was this young female dark elf, who lived in the desert in some creepy catacombs, that her tribe called a cave, to trick anyone into thinking, the numbers of the dark elves were just a hand full. Since her job rank was low she was never permitted to leave this catacomb. Just for your information, she was a rank 30 job scope, and only those rank 5 and above, are permitted to leave the catacombs since it's a super dangerous place for a dark elf. Not that you would know since you are a light elf. You lucky privileged chubby baby, always remember that. And if I ever know that you complain about life, I'll beat you up. No matter how chubby cute you are or how old you are. Got it?"
Philomel threatened as she glared at the baby. Little One sleepily open his eyes, once again wondering why Philomel stopped talking.
" Urmm ma."
He struggled to say as he could feel the heavy pull of sleep.
" Good. Where was I again? Ah yes, so the rank 30 job-scope woman dream about wanting to see the Grand Tree. A place where legends have it was the birthplace of the first 10 elves. Not that you would know since I didn't tell. Now that I think about it, I probably should have started with that story first."
Philomel paused again as she thought. Little One grunted, now knowing that he needed to make some sort of noise, for her to continue.
" Meh. Those stories you'll probably hear about them a million times after you grow up. It's a tale that all Light elves cherish after all. So she wanted to go to see the Grand Tree and which was a continent away in a kingdom called Eclipse. Holy lands of all elves... or should I say light elves. Dark elves were banned, after the whole God war incident, becoming half-demons and being cast away by our own kind. Even though we made that deal to gain enough power to protect the elves in the first place."
Philomel once again found herself glaring at the baby.
" Privileged fatty. Never forget it. Your a privilege fatty bum bum."
Philomel taunted as she poke the Little One's bum, keeping the drowsy baby awake.
" Uin mie?"
He babbled knowing that Philomel wanted some sound of reply.
" So the girl begged a rank 3 which is the scavenger rank, to take her to the grand tree. The scavenger who has been to that continent before, well technically, she had been to a village near a volcano but that was kinda close to Eclipse where the Grand Tree was, agreed. So on her next scavenger hunt, she brought along the rank 30 dark elves with her. The journey wasn't that hard since the scavenger had a beast... A beast that I was about to meet today... *Sighs* Great now I'll never know what beast I could have had. Probably a big fancy one since I'm the current greatest scavenger, not that you know."
Philomel bragged to the baby, feeling better about herself.
" Twab oingj himag."
Little One mumbled as he wonders why couldn't Philomel just keep talking.
" So they went to the Continent and headed to Eclipse, wore hoods, and visited the Grand Tree. Well more like, see the Grand Tree from a huge distance away. Since it was on an island and only the souls of the dead light elves were permitted to return to the Grand Tree while the souls of the dark elves were forced to roam the earth, privileged fatty."
Philomel spat out again, making Little One open his eyes wide from the tone of her voice.
" They saw the Grand Tree and were mesmerized by it. They didn't see the light elf guard approaching them at all. He grabbed rank 30's shoulder and spun her around, her hood fell off revealing her dark elf features, and that light elf guard was hit by Rhane's arrow or in human words, cupid's arrow. He fell head over heels and follow her all the way back to the village near the volcano.
Which was like a 2-day journey, since the two dark elves did all they could to throw him off their tracks. But still, he was extremely persistent, by the end of the journey, the low-rank girl couldn't help but confess her love to him.
Unfortunately, they couldn't live happily ever after. For she was a dark elf and he was a light elf, a match that no elf would permit. The Light elf has no choice but to let his lover go back to her home, a home where he would be killed upon sight. He was so heartbroken and did his best to live on knowing that he couldn't be without her, but the pull was too strong and painful.
Having enough of such a painful love, the lovesick light elf travel to Ralux. Up the mountain to the tomb of the forgotten god. To the tomb of the fake god of love, the god of tricks, the tomb of Rhane, and threw himself off that mountain. The end. Sleep tight."
Philomel wished as she patted his belly. Little One's eye immediately shot open and stared at Philomel in shock. Wondering how many times must he acknowledge her for her to keep talking.
