Chapter 52 - Blood Lilies

Blood Lilies

Terrified at the second offensive that had just been unleashed, Wang Mo lost his calm.

"Dammit! Everyone defend me!" Wang Mo shouted in a panic as he dove for cover.

He was too weak to participate in this fight, as even the weakest hawk was in the late stages of the Blood Exchange realm. And not everyone possessed Xue Bai's space element, which allowed him to leapfrog multiple stages and fight above their realm.

Wang Mo was talented, but for him to leapfrog almost five stages was impossible. Even one or two stages were already too difficult for him.

At Xue Bai's order, all of the hawks, besides the Thunderhawk under his feet, flew at the herded Wang Clan members.

And in the ensuing siege, instead of attacking the whole group and potentially not killing one person, the Hawks decided to gang up on the two weakest people. And with their strategy, they managed to kill their two targets, bringing the original six down to four.

"Dammit! You useless pieces of garbage, how hard is it to stand your ground!" Wang Mo shouted out, terrified.

"Young Master, there are more than twice as many of them as us. And we are still almost empty of Spiritual Qi!" Wang Yibo shouted back angrily.

Did this idiot of a young master think that this was easy?!

"Then burn your blood essence! If I die here, your families will go down with me!" Wang Mo threatened.

He had a long life to live! Dying here would be an injustice to the heavens!

The two continued arguing, and before they finished, the Hawks had already returned to their original positions. And once more, Xue Bai waved his arm mercilessly, ordering them to attack.

Xue Bai knew all of the ghastly deeds the Wang Clan did. And since this clan had already tried to destroy his life, Xue Bai had no mercy toward them. He was more than willing to be their executioner.

The second wave of attacks killed the last Wang Clan member who wasn't Wang Mo's personal bodyguard while severely injuring the two bodyguards.

Wang Mo, who was still feigning calmness, couldn't hold in his anger anymore.

"You piece of trash who doesn't even dare show his face to us! How dare you kill members of the noble Wang Clan! You've written yourself a death warrant! It doesn't matter which of the Three Great Families you are from. You'll die a horrible death!" Wang Mo screamed out as he lost his calm.

No matter how much he was trained to be a noble, Wang Mo was still, at the end of the day, a 13-year-old boy, and when death was right in front of him, he was terrified.

Seeing Wang Mo's breakdown, Xue Bai stopped the offensive for a moment.

Even though there were still peak stage Muscle Nourishing realm youngsters still alive, they were far too injured to stand a chance. Moreover, Xue Bai still hadn't even let the Thunderhawk make a move yet.

Their deaths were certain, so Xue Bai had no fear in letting them live for a few more minutes. And he also wanted to ask Wang Mo a few questions.

So wanting to talk to the survivors, Xue Bai motioned for the Thunderhawk to fly down.

On the other hand, Wang Mo, seeing this, thought that his threat had worked and was ecstatic.

"HA! You were terrified! Yes, come down and kowtow in front of me and beg forgiveness, and maybe I'll let you live!" Wang Mo shouted in a deranged manner, surprising everyone.

Wang Yibo, the other bodyguard, or even Xue Bai, had not expected Wang Mo to think that he was surrendering.

After all, Xue Bai had every advantage and was just a few more clashes away from wiping out the Wang Clan members. Why would he surrender?

Xue Bai, up above, even started to laugh loudly.

'I thought that only villains in cultivation novels could possibly be this dumb.' Xue Bai thought mentally.

Xue Bai's laughter was so loud that the three survivors could also hear it. Wang Yibo and the last bodyguard looked awkward, but Wang Mo turned red from embarrassment. He obviously could tell why Xue Bai was laughing, and it didn't feel good.

"Wang Mo, oh Wang Mo, never did you think you'd fall in this unnamed secret realm, did you? With the Blood Saber Sect as a backer and a peak stage Domain Lord realm grandfather, you thought you were a child of the heavens, didn't you?" Xue Bai mocked as the Thunderhawk landed.

Hearing those words, Wang Mo was terrified. Most of the younger generation in the Wang Clan didn't know that they were subordinates of the Blood Saber Sect. Hell, most of the Wang Clan members didn't even know they were traitors and just assumed that they were crazy by nature.

However, Wang Mo was the only grandson of the Grand Elder, so he was allowed to know despite his age.

But this man, who had nearly wiped them out, clearly wasn't a Wang Clan member, so how did he know?

"Who are you? And how do you know that?" Wang Mo asked deeply.

Xue Bai didn't answer his question and instead landed on the ground, allowing Wang Mo to see who he was.

Wang Mo had seen Xue Bai before. So the second that he landed, Wang Mo recognized him. But since the scenarios were so odd, Wang Mo still couldn't believe that it was him.

"Are you Xue Bai?" Wang Mo asked carefully.

"Correct! Took a little longer than I thought it would." Xue Bai commented with a smile.

However, the smile wasn't one of excitement or praise but one full of disdain.

"If you are Xue Bai, how dare you attack us! Do you think Xue Feng could protect you from my clan!" Wang Mo screamed out in a rage.

After he finally knew who had driven him and his clan members to the brink of extinction, Wang Mo was enraged.

The Wang, Yan, and Duan Clans were the Three Great Families of the Great Xuan Empire. Each of the clans had at least three different peak stage Domain Lord realm cultivators and one cultivator in the Xiantian Great Realm to protect it at any given moment.

Xue Feng was also a Duke like Wang Yichen and Yan Zhenyu, but unlike them, he didn't have a clan underneath him.

Xue Feng and Li Rou were the strongest cultivators in the dukedom, but they were only at the 7th stage of the Domain Lord Realm, with the next strongest being Zhou Beizhen at the 3rd stage of the Domain Lord Realm.

Li Huo and his subordinates didn't count, as Li Huo was a noble himself, and the people under him belonged to him, not Xue Feng's dukedom.

So seeing that the son of a mere newly appointed Duke had almost killed him, Wang Mo's eyes had turned red in anger.

"How dare a Blood Exchange realm ant like you call my father by his full name!" Xue Bai coldly berated.

Calling people in power by their full name was extremely disrespectful, especially if you were far below them in standing and strength.

And Wang Mo was below Xue Feng in both. So hearing a random mob like him call Xue Feng by his full name angered Xue Bai.

Angered, Xue Bai waved his hand once again, and following his command, the Thunderhawk at his side spat out a ball of lightning at Wang Yibo.

Normally it was impossible for a being below the Qi Sea realm to unleash attacks away from their body, but certain circumstances allowed beings to step away from that rule.

If a cultivator, by some miracle, managed to comprehend a law before the Qi Sea realm, or perhaps they were using a bloodline ability, those were the usual ways. And with the Thunderhawk, it was the latter.

Being the extremely distant descendant of a Thunderhawk, it inherited some bloodline abilities, and the most basic one in its repertoire was the ball of thunder it just spat out.

Wang Yibo and the other unnamed Wang Clan youth were far too injured and tired to dodge, and honestly, even if they could, they wouldn't have dodged. They had given up the second Xue Bai flew down. They only wished to die sooner rather than later.

However, as they did, they cursed Wang Mo endlessly and wished to live a better life next time.

Wang Mo didn't expect Xue Bai to kill his last two guards so suddenly. And with his last sense of security gone, Wang Mo knew his life was over.

But he also knew Xue Bai wouldn't spare him. So rather than beg for forgiveness and grovel, Wang Mo turned manic.

"Xue Feng is a mere cultivation fool who got lucky with his Martial Veins! Why wouldn't I dare not call him by his full name? This continent will be trampled under my Wang Clan soon enough. By then, Xue Feng wouldn't even dare call me by my full name!" Wang Mo shouted back, unsurprisingly.

Usually, in stereotypical routines like this, the brain-dead villain would either grovel and beg for forgiveness or turn manic and wildly insult without care for the future. Wang Mo was the latter.

Xue Bai was apathetic to his words and, to Wang Mo's surprise, pulled out a sword.

"My sword has yet to taste blood. And I have yet to see combat. Raise your sword. If you win, I might let you live." Xue Bai coldly spoke.

Without saying anything more, he jumped at Wan Mo.

Xue Bai had sparred with Xue Feng for a long time, but every fight he had with his father was still extremely safe.

Xue Feng's swordsmanship had almost reached the pinnacle, and he was more than able to make sure Xue Bai was never in too much pain. As a result, the wounds that Xue Bai got were pretty much only on the surface.

And because of this, Xue Bai had truly seen combat.

Wanting to change that, Xue Bai suddenly had the idea of fighting with Wang Mo. Wang Mo's cultivation base was only at the 2nd stage of the Blood Exchange realm, which was at the limit of Xue Bai's strength.

The fight would be hard, and Xue Bai could have his life threatened, but he didn't care much and jumped right into it.

Xue Bai was above the Five Children of the Plane in the sense that he had an extremely great upbringing. There were no life-or-death perils around him constantly, no greater threat surrounding his family, and no mortal grudges for him to worry about.

Xue Bai was able to cultivate peacefully for a very long time without having any worries.

However, even though this was a good thing in that sense, it was also a bad thing.

Xue Bai had never experienced a true life-or-death battle, and if he didn't go out of his way with Wang Mo now, he wouldn't for a very long time.

But to be a great cultivator, one needed to create seas of blood and walk over countless corpses. Being a greenhouse flower was a golden pass to the Yellow Springs.

Xue Bai naturally didn't want this. So even though Xue Feng and Li Rou would hate this, he chose to fight Wang Mo.

'A genius is like a Blood Lily. The more blood poured onto them, the more beautiful they appear.'
