Chapter 32 - Rebirth Protagonist Xiao Mo, Step 1 Complete

Rebirth Protagonist Xiao Mo, Step 1 Complete

Like he did when they flew to Frontier City, Xue Bai took a few minutes and appreciated the scenic view he was bestowed as they flew high into the sky.

No matter how many times he saw it, it always amazed him.

From a crippled boy bound to a hospital bed to a Young Master capable of creating waves with just an order, Xue Bai's life took a 360° turn.

Eventually, Xue Bai got tired of the view, though.

It was beautiful, yes, but it wasn't entertainment.

"Big Wang, I gave you the coordinates. Wake me up when we are close to it." Xue Bai ordered before closing his eyes.

However, he wasn't planning on sleeping yet as he had just remembered something extremely important.

The plot of "Children of the Plane" was split into two timelines.

The original timeline, where there were no Children of the Plane, and another that was interfered with by a regressor, but it was in the second timeline that the game took place.

After all, with 5 Children of the Plane, each with their own protagonist troupe, how could there not be a rebirth protagonist?

And the Celestial Void Fruit he was about to pick was something originally picked by a random genius in the original timeline. This genius would then go on to dominate the era, leading his own army and trampling his peers.

This certainly would be amazon, but during the second timeline, the game's timeline, this wouldn't happen.

During the game, it was stolen by the regressor, the person who interfered with the timeline, the Child of the Plane of the rebirth troupe.

The protagonist's name was Xiao Mo. And in the original timeline, he was only a medicine boy from a sect in the sticks of the Eastern Continent.

Originally he was fated to never cultivate and live his life as a slave in a backwater sect.

However, the trajectory of his life was changed, and his destiny was altered.

Apparently, he had come across the severely injured body of his sect's Holy Son and had saved him. Following this fortuitous encounter, he was chosen to be a follower of the Holy Son and soon followed him throughout his journey.

But with his mediocre talent, Xiao Mo soon realized that if he wanted something in life, he had to snatch it himself.

And so he became a menace to his Master, stealing his chances, using his name to pressure others, and other horrible things. But through this, he eventually overcame his lack of potential and gained a middle Black-grade Martial Vein, and instantly rose to stardom.

Following his complete transformation, Xiao Mo then, by using his knowledge of all of his Master's 'deads,' he then used the public's opinion to create a witch hunt over his Master.

Xiao Mo was effectively swearing his Master's name all over the continent as himself, the overly brutally arrogant and nefarious devil that had terrorized the continent.

He had given his Master his own black pot to wear.

Xiao Mo turned the public against his Master and further changed his destiny.

Then in a final "climactic" battle for righteousness, Xiao Mo then killed his Master, finally freeing himself and removing the slave seal that he was branded with so long ago.

And now, with his new potential, and the public's recognition as a demon slayer and righteous hero, he would soon take over the Eastern Continent and live the lavish life of an Emperor.

However, eventually, he would soon grow overconfident and tired of the weak Eastern Continent. And because of this, he made his way to the Central Continent with a cultivation base at the peak of the Domain Lord realm, which was inflated from pills and natural treasures.

But there was when he realized the unfairness of the world. He was once again taken as a slave to a sect in the sticks of the Central Continent. However, this time he wouldn't be able to alter his destiny, and after almost 500 years of tortuous slave work, Xiao Mo died in that sect of old age, never being allowed to fulfill his wishes.

Yet somehow, he was brought back in time, back to his youth, before everything. And now reborn once again in the past, with his memories of the future, Xiao Mo swore to never yield, never to suppress his desires, and to truly live his own life.

Of all the protagonists in "Children of the Plane," he was the one Xue Bai was wary of most. Because of the five, they were all either nice people at heart or arrogant enough to put nothing in their eyes.

However, Xiao Mo was the opposite. Living a life as a slave for almost half a millennium had twisted his mentality, and he now lived with the motto, "My way or the highway."

Nothing had to be out of his calculations or schemes.

He wanted the entire Baishen Plane to be under his control, and with Yggradsil in his possession, he had the means to do so.

Through most people's playthroughs, he was the final villain in "Children of the Plane," and the only way to kill him was to stop him in the early stages. Mainly because once he got Yggdrasil and the other natural treasures from his memories, he would become almost unstoppable.

And also, Xiao Mo would also steal this Celestial Void Fruit in the game, but he would only do so in a few decades, which left Xue Bai with plenty of room.

Xue Bai also didn't know what timeline he was in currently. He didn't even know whether or not Xiao Mo would awaken his memories. But Xue Bai didn't care.

If Xiao Mo did awaken his memories, then all the more reason to steal the Celestial Void Fruit. And if he didn't awaken his memories, it still didn't matter.

Xue Bai needed this fruit to cultivate.

That random genius who dominated the original timeline could get dirt for all Xue Bai cared. This fruit was his lifeline, and he would rather die than let someone else take it, let alone keel over and let the original owners of it take it from him.

Also, if it was the second timeline, and Xue Bai didn't get the fruit, he still knew that Xiao Mo wouldn't spare him.

As a control freak, Xiao Mo hated something he didn't know about or couldn't control. And with Xue Bai being an anomaly, Xiao Mo would kill him the first chance he got.

Moreover, Xue Bai had already stolen Yggradasil from him. So there was no more reconciliation between the two. Neither wanted Yggradasil's abilities to be known by the world.

He and Xiao Mo would meet eventually, but until then, Xue Bai would prepare himself while stopping as many interceptions as possible.

Remembering Xiao Mo also reminded Xue Bai of the second protagonist on his continent. Finally, after almost two and a half years of being in this world, he had found her traces.

But Xue Bai had bigger plans for the girl, so he left her to her own devices, leaving only a shadow guard to relay important news.

Down with his inward ramblings and after bringing his messy mind to a calm state, Xue Bai closed his eyes and soon fell asleep on the mount.

The place where the Celestial Void Fruit was growing was even further than Frontier City, and it would take almost a full day to reach it on the Bear Griffin.

Thankfully, with his past life experience, Xue Bai had developed a skill that could easily let him sleep for most of the day, which worked just as well in his new life as Xue Bai was woken up suddenly by Big Wang.

They had arrived.

"Young Duke, I've arrived at the coordinates you gave me, but where do we go next? There isn't a town for miles. And the closest one is abandoned." Big Wang asked.

He had seen the town that Xue Bai had cleared out while they were flying here, but since it was abandoned, he ignored it.

Abandoned towns, especially this close to the border of the Empire, weren't rare. Demonic beasts dominated these lands, and sometimes the people of the town couldn't defend it and would be forced to abandon it.

"No need, Big Wang, our goal is right in front of us." Xue Bai spoke with glowing eyes.

Though Xue Bai was still on the back of the Bear Griffin and consequently several meters in the air, thanks to his good eyesight, he could still see his goal.

On the ground a few dozen meters away from them was a small plant that was only about a meter tall, which was a bit shorter than the 1.2-meter-tall Xue Bai.

However, what made it special was an apple-sized fruit hanging on it. Yet, even though it was only the size of an apple, for some mystical reason, the small fruit was so heavy it had made the plant bend just to support its weight.

This fruit was, of course, the Celestial Void Fruit. However, since it wasn't fully ripe, it still hadn't gotten its signature purple hue and was stuck with a dark blue shade.

But Xue Bai had waited almost 2 and a half years for this thing, and he could wait a little longer. The only reason he had come a week early was to prevent any mishaps from happening.

This world was chaotic, and sometimes even the most well-laid-out plans would fail. However, Xue Bai couldn't afford to have this fail, so he was here early.

He wasn't doing anything at home anyway.

"Big Wang set up a Concealing Formation around us. Make it about 30 meters in diameter. Then, little Wang set up camp for us. We'll be here for a while." Xue Bai gave the two orders before laying down on the Bear Griffin.

He planned to sleep on it. How could he, a Young Duke, sleep on the cold forest floor when there was a fluffy and docile behemoth here begging for him to sleep on it?

Obeying Xue Bai's command, the Wang twins both quickly completed their orders before sitting down in a lotus position and cultivating.

Though the Spiritual Qi here was thin, with how close they were to the next realm, any Spiritual Qi was helpful.

Days quickly passed with Xue Bai either sleeping or playing various card games with the twins to sate his boredom until finally, the day of its ripening had arrived.

"Big Wang, do you have the case ready?" Xue Bai asked the bodyguard.

Since Xue Bai couldn't eat the fruit immediately, he brought an Essence Sealing Storage Box with him.

This was something that could hold the Celestial Void Fruit without letting any of its essence leave it.

"Yes, Young Duke. Here you go. Just be careful with picking the fruit." Big Wang respectfully spoke.

After handing the case to Xue Bai, Big Wang backed off per his previous instructions.

With the case in hand, Xue Bai started slowly walking towards the fruit, waiting for the spatial pulse. Though no one under the Immortal Great Realm could sense spatial fluctuations, with how close Xue Bai was, he would be able to feel it blow past him.

Thankfully Xue Bai only waited for a few minutes before it happened.

Suddenly, a blast of purple light emitted from the fruit before fading into nothingness a few feet into its flight. The Celestial Void Fruit had turned entirely purple and had ripened.

Not wasting any time, Xue Bai picked the fruit and placed it into the case. Fearing that something might go wrong if he wasted any time.

After the fruit was secured, Xue Bai looked up at the sky to see if anything had happened. But even after ten minutes, no lighting came down, bringing the ordeal to an end.

"Big Wang, Little Wang, let's go home. Our mission here is complete." Then, after calming his uneasy heart down, Xue Bai ordered.

"Young Duke, what exactly is that fruit?" Big Wang couldn't help but ask.

Hearing that question, Xue Bai had many answers to it in his mind. Unfortunately, most of them were sarcastic. However, he ignored all of them and responded with the most precise.

"It's our hope, Big Wang. This fruit is the start of me and the only hope of survival." Xue Bai spoke emotionally.

Dumbstruck at such a serious answer, Big Wang wanted to ask another question, but Xue Bai spoke once again, shutting him up.

"Big Wang, I miss my parents. Take us home at full speed."

"Yes, Young Duke!" Putting his questions to the back of his mind, Big Wang ordered his mount to fly towards the Dukedom.

'Step 1 is complete. Now for step 2!' Xue Bai was all smiles inside.

With everything going right for him now, Xue Bai couldn't wait for the future.

There is now a discord for this novel. However, be warned. It is rather bare bones. I suck at Discord. The link is in the synopsis.
