Chapter 40 - CHAPTER 40

It was a 10km marathon and, to be honest; the distance was enough to drive a lot of people crazy.

Diamond kept her pace and continued to run. Her ear pods kept emitting the wonderful songs from her smartwatch and the run wasn't that bad after all.

Around one hour and thirty minutes, the champion was decided. And six minutes later, Diamond also finished, and she was in the top five, number three to be exact.

As for her staff, only one managed to get number eight, which was already a huge feat.

Diamond received a lot of praise and cheers from Ruby and the others. The moment was also faithfully recorded, which made it very special for them.

After the marathon, everyone gathered in the tent where speeches were made and Diamond and the rest had to listen to a lot of wonderful testimonies.

Diamond also took notes, as this was how one learned. In the future, she would also be hosting events like these, and she needed to be ready for that.

Those who were at the top received awards, which were mainly certificates and small trophies. Diamond excitedly held her rewards and posed for photos with some big shots.

After that, they took some group photos as foundation staff and some with Cecilia and her friends. The new acquaintances she made at the event also asked for photos with her and everything went very well.

To promote this event as well as promote the foundation, one of the staff did a livestream of the whole marathon faithfully and shared a lot of joy with many people.

It was around four that everyone began to disperse, and Diamond and her staff also returned to their own foundation building.

"I am very happy about today; I will reward you greatly on Monday. Enjoy your day and have a great weekend," Diamond happily told her staff after getting to the foundation.

Diamond and Ruby then drove back home after this.

Ruby had made plans with her friends, so she wasn't going to join Diamond at the birthday banquet.

For that banquet, Diamond didn't want to lose face, so she opened her hidden closet, which was only one-tenth filled. The number of outfits that were in this closet was less than twenty, but they were all legendary.

The jewelry was something that would drive any thief crazy and she didn't dare walk around wearing these treasures, so she decided to be more careful with what she would pick.

In the end, she picked a jade jewelry set that consisted of a jade hairpin she received a very long time ago, a pendant, and a bracelet.

The set wasn't complete yet, but these pieces were enough to make her look ethereal and like a goddess.

After that, she picked an emerald green outfit that matched the green and white jade jewelry she had chosen.

She joined Ruby for dinner and soon separated after watching the evening news. Ruby had other things to do and Diamond had a few reports to read too.

Andrea was doing a pretty good job and although he was multi-tasking, the job was done to perfection. Her bank account balance had multiplied once more, and this was all thanks to Andrea.

[I would advise my lady to open more bank accounts ........]

Diamond listened carefully to Andrea. The A.I. was very good at analyzing, so things were made easy for her.

She also looked at several charities' information and kept the list well. There were very bad charities that looked good on the surface and yet they were engaged in evil practices.

And then some were good but were just small and unknown. Diamond wanted to get to know them and become friends, if possible. The organizations could work together and promote togetherness in the future.

The next day, Ruby left after having breakfast, and Diamond was left alone at home. Janet was also not around, so she spent her time watching TV and, as she was watching some soap, she saw a familiar face again. Triggering her memory of what had happened before.

'Oh, isn't that the male celebrity I saw at the airport that day?'

Seeing that man again, she couldn't help but think again about opening her own entertainment agency. The scripts and songbooks she had in hand were simply too many and they needed to be used.

For if they remain lying around, she wasn't going to earn anything from them and this would be a complete waste of resources. Something that she didn't want to see happening.

Around three in the afternoon, she received a phone call from Cecilia, who reminded her to get ready as they would be leaving around four or five to go to the banquet.

Diamond began to get ready once more. She first took a medicated bath, which lasted twenty minutes, and then applied beauty cream all over her smooth skin.

When she was done, she then wore the outfit she prepared the previous day and dolled herself prettily. Following this, she then went downstairs and locked the doors.

As Cecilia's villa was close, she simply walked to the villa, and she found the other already ready.

Cecilia was dressed in an orange gown, and she looked dazzling. However, she couldn't help but take a closer look at Diamond to fully capture this moment.

"My dear, you keep on shocking me every single day. Just what kind of second-rich-generation kid are you?" Cecilia asked with shock as her eyes scanned the value of what Diamond was wearing.

"Ha ha, are you ready now?" Diamond avoided the question.

It was simply too hard to try to answer Cecilia's questions.

Cecelia knew that she had failed once again to get the answers that she needed, but as a strong-willed person, she wasn't going to give up. She was going to try another time in the future.

Diamond knew that Cecilia would try this trick again in the future, but she wasn't going to answer. It's not like she was obligated to give her answers. She had never asked the other about her own private matters, after all.

The two ladies left in Cecilia's SUV as they sat in the backseat while the driver was in the front. Diamond was engaged in a funny conversation with Cecilia.

She kept on listening about the birthday banquet's protagonist and it was at times like this. She felt grateful for Cecilia's gossipy nature. It was simply so helpful.

She just hoped that the banquet would be worth it and be interesting, otherwise, all her hope would be dashed.

She had seen so much drama before and was tired of it.
