Chapter 13 - The Mysterious Pill

"Three more?" asked Pang Ming as he carefully examined the medicine in the bottle. This medicine looked ordinary and unremarkable - just a white pill, similar to a jelly bean. However, it was this same ordinary-looking pill that could be sold for a sky-high price in the black market!

Pang Ming had once asked Su Yu if this medicine was really as magical as the legends said. It wasn't that he doubted the efficacy of the medicine, but simply because he had witnessed how Su Yu consumed them like she was eating jelly beans, chewing on them like she was chewing gum.

"I'm too busy. I don't have time to make more than that," said Su Yu casually. She was half-leaning on the table, her two long, white legs crossed.

Pang Ming carefully kept the three precious pills, then disdainfully said, "Busy, my a**! I see that you have a lot of time to find your father!"

"I'm really very busy!" Despite how serious Su Yu tried to sound, the laziness in which she sat made it hard for anyone to take her seriously.

Pang Ming couldn't be bothered to argue with her anymore. He then seemed to have suddenly thought of something and hurriedly asked, "Oh, by the way, someone's investigating you now. They've traced you all the way from Chongqing to Feng City. It seems that there's a very important patient they want you to see."

"I'm not interested," said Su Yu lazily. Compared to being a doctor, she was more interested in finding out her background and the cause of her mother's death.

"But they've already tracked you all the way to Feng City. They must be well prepared to have found a lot of information about you," said Pang Ming worriedly.

Su Yu didn't care at all as she coldly said, "I won't meet him. Just settle it for me, will you?"

Pang Ming was in the underground business and the black market in Feng City was under his name. His influence had even extended to Yu City. Her relationship with Pang Ming could be considered a coincidence. She had saved Pang Ming's life and Pang Ming had also helped her a lot. And from there, a type of friendship grew between them. Although they weren't friends who had gone through life and death together, she had absolute trust in him. Pang Ming was also one of the people who knew her true identity.

Pang Ming agreed. Ever since the black market started circulating this medicine, Su Yu's reputation as a divine doctor had become very popular. Countless people came to see her for treatment and he had often helped to reject them.

"Then I'll be leaving now!" She had given him her medicine and taken the things she needed, so there was no need for her to stay any longer. She stood up and walked out, saying, "Call me if you need anything."

Pang Ming's eyes were filled with reluctance when he saw that she was leaving. "The Su family..."

However, seeing that Su Yu had already walked off, he couldn't say anything more. He had originally wanted to ask if he should teach the Su family a lesson for treating her like this. The Su family must be out of their minds. They didn't treat Su Yu, a genius adopted daughter, well, and they would regret it one day.

After leaving the psychological clinic, Su Yu was not in a hurry to go back. Instead, she hailed a taxi by the roadside to go to the mall to buy something. When she left the Su family's house earlier, she had only brought a change of clothes with her, other than her laptop.

But who knew that when the taxi reached the shopping mall street, it could not advance any further.

"Miss, the traffic here is bad. How about you walk the rest of the way? I don't think there is any other way to reach your destination faster," said the taxi driver.

"Oh, okay." Su Yu was delighted. She looked at the meter, paid the driver, and got out of the car.

This road was along the river and there was a bridge not far ahead. After crossing the bridge, she would reach the shopping mall. Su Yu had only taken a few steps when she heard someone shout from the direction of the river, "Help! Someone fell into the water!"

There were quite a few pedestrians by the river who had gathered when they heard the noise.

"Oh my God, someone really fell into the water."

"It looks like a child. There was a child by the river just now, but he's gone now."

"Who can swim? Save the child!"

There were many onlookers, but no one took any action. Among the crowd were Su Man and two other girls from the same class, looking at the scene. The current was very fast, making the situation more dangerous. One of the girls asked, "Manman, I remember you can swim. Didn't you sign up for swimming classes during the summer break?"

Before Su Man could reply, an old man who had heard them asked in surprise, "Little girl, you can swim? That is great! Please save that child, he's about to drown!"

Despite his age, the old man was still very strong-willed and his voice was loud. Many people heard him and started to look at Su Man with anticipation. Everyone wanted to save the child, but none could swim.
