The room was quiet, very quiet, the only sound heard was that from the old pendulum clock ticking back and forth. Little prisms of light emanated from the two huge chandeliers for that were hung on both sides of the room. Outside the room was darkness, pitch darkness and the only sound I could hear was that of my little friends, the bats, hovering at the top pinnacle of the room.
The room was a hall which was often locked unless our coven had an important event to hold. And today's event was one which would change my life, likely for worse, but it would benefit our large coven.
I stood at the altar feeling sick and sorry for my stupid self, my two feet felt like spaghetti, my knees were weak not from standing, but from the heavy thoughts I kept at bay in my black hole, if it could be called heart again. I could trip at any point but I had to keep steady for my sakes.
I glanced at the front row, there was seated a demon alpha, with his dark red eyes he kept staring at me like I've grown two heads,he bit his lips and snarled at me like I was his problem, seated beside him was and old man of about nine hundred years, but he had the looks of someone of seventy, he had a lit pipe in his hand, his face bore an appearance of someone who couldn't bear the thoughts of staying in the same room with us or breathing the same air with us. He took a slow look at the others, obviously reading their thoughts, to make sure nothing escaped him or no intruder penetrated through. Roman vicar, my grandfather, one of the great nobility of our universe and our coven and of course my family had the most powerful vampires as it was the oldest vampire family in the universe.
My grandfather was feared and respected by everyone as no secret could be kept from him, because of his numerous abilities. We all believed he was the reincarnation of Absalom. He gave no one the impression of being friendly even to his son, my father.
My father kept shifting uncomfortably on the seat he occupied, trying to telepath with me but I kept him locked out as I didn't want to make any change of heart, in fact I kept everyone apart from my friends at the pinnacle locked out, our family was the only one that had the ability to telepath, in fact only the males had the ability to telepath which included my father, grandfather and I. His deep gaze kept piercing through me making my heart race faster, but I didn't dare look back at him. He kept trying to stop me from making a bad decision that would change my life negatively, not minding the piercing warning signals my grandfather had been blowing at him, but it was too late.....
I watched him as he entered and occupied the back seat, he looked hot and sweaty, like he had been out hunting. He took of his sunglasses and popped open two buttons of the black long sleeves shirt he wore revealing his smoking hot bare chest. Oh, the only man that had been occupying my dead head for this few days, I noticed with sudden consternation that he had turned his attention to me and that shooked me, his long brown hair was packed in a messy bun, which made him look more sexy than he already was, his bright blue eyes which could pierce any soul laid lazily on me. For some reason, from where I stood, i could not look away, he was undoubtedly one of the most sensational undead being I have being with, my entire years of living.
I finally dragged my gaze from him as I was already getting dizzy with lust, and in the process unintentionally listened to my father,
[Look, you don't have to do this, if you're not happy with it] he telepathed to me
I looked at my grandfather and from his facial reaction, I was sure he read my father, damn, he didn't shut him out
[What are you doing, grandfather can hear you] I sent back
[Forget about him, I know you're not happy about this, we could leave here now] he coaxed me
[We could get caught and burnt alive, there's no way we can outrun the hunters]
[Shut up, you just listen to me, he was getting upset I could feel it,I want what's best for you, your mom would want the same also, if this union would make you sad then I don't want to be part of it...]
[Then why are you here] I asked them shut him out again
I could see the frown lines etched on his face when I shut him out and didn't reply again, grandfather glared at us deeply visibly frowning but we didn't care. If he cared about me deeply and wasn't in support he could have stopped me long before I walked up this altar.
The short hand of the clock struck twelve, the loud huge gong from our coven sounded three times, and almost immediately the huge black door opened, I panicked as the luna walked the short road down the altar, my heart pounded loudly in my chest. This is the right thing to do, no more killings, no more burnt sacrifices, it's all coming to an end, finally were at peace, I kept on using this words to console myself.
As her gaze fell on me, I felt irritated, I didn't like her a single bit, hell I felt like ripping out her throat and draining her dry. The three wise men of our coven walked up the altar with a pot containing our previous human sacrifice.
[If this is what you want, I'll support you fully,SON]
That was all I needed to hear, as he drew out the blade to cut both our palms and join us
"Wait" I heard myself say
It was high time this six foot five cold-blooded immortal had to be a giant...
