Chapter 78 - Death of Paratap Rai

In a room of the Royal Palace in Brahmanabad, King (Raja)Dahir's youngest and most beloved Queen(Rani)was enshrined on a golden throne.

The queen's name was Ladhi. There were signs of sadness on his beautiful face.

A few servants were standing around with folded hands.

Pratab Rai bowed his head and slowly stepped into the room and approached Queen (Rani) and softly said, "Dear Queen Jai Singh has been defeated and the enemy is going to capture the city in a short while."

Now we have no choice but to run away.

Can we get out of the tunnel?

Queen (Rani) replied bitterly, "There were enough women in the palace to bring me information about the defeat.

" Why did you leave the field??"

It was my duty to protect the Empress.

Now is not the time to talk.

Come on, I have arranged the horses at the other end of the tunnel.

Can you reach Arur without facing any danger?"

Rani said angrily, "I would prefer death at the hands of a brave enemy to saving my life in the protection of a coward like you?"

Pratap Rai says,

This is not fair to me, I am your faithful servant. Time for justice has come for you. Saying this,

Queen( Rani) stood up from the chair.

Pratap Rai was worried and said,

Dear Queen,

What are you saying? I am talking about your welfare!

Rani said in anger, you are the biggest enemy of this country, the trouble came to Sindh because of you.

You seduced the King (Raja) to take war with the Arabs, you made Jairam our enemy. Brave soldiers like Bheem Singh and Oudhe Singh were the first to run away from the last battle with the enemy because of you and now you want to take me with you, not to save my life, but out of fear for your own life.

Arabs do not touch women. Therefore, because of us, they may leave you too.

"Pratap Rai says,

Our Queen!

What are you saying

Listen! The enemy is entering the fort.

Now he is coming here. If you are not afraid of the humiliation of his imprisonment, then I will go."

Saying this, Pratap Rai wanted to turn back, but the Queen ( Rani )stepped forward and blocked his way and, showing a shining dagger, said, Stop!

Your decision has not been made yet.

When Pratap Rai saw people gathering around him with new swords, he put the iron on one side and put the sword.

The Queen (Rani) took a sword from the hand of a courtier and advanced and said,

Coward!

Your hands are not made for carrying swords but for wearing bangles?

Pratap Rai attacked Queen ( Rani )like a wounded animal but she suddenly turned aside.

Before Pratap Rai would pick up the sword for the second time. The swords of four soldiers had pierced his breast: "
