Chapter 43 - Envoy of Qutiba

Al-Hajjaj ibn Yusuf was looking at the maps hanging on the walls for a long time. Finally he took down a map and placed it in front of him and sat on the Iranian carpet. After thinking for a long time, he picked up a pen and made a few marks on the map and wrapped it up and put it aside.

A soldier timidly entered the room and said, "An envoy has come from Turkistan?" Al-Hajjaj ibn Yusuf said, I have been waiting since morning. Bring it here.

The soldier left and Al-Hajjaj ibn Yusuf opened the map again and got busy looking at it. After a while an armored man entered the room. He looked like a young man in stature and a boy of fifteen or sixteen years old in face.

A copper head was shining on his head.

Sharp expressions, sparkling eyes and pursed lips mirrored an extraordinary determination and determination.

His stature was proportionate and his face had such attractiveness that Al-Hajjaj ibn Yusuf kept looking at him in amazement. Finally, he asked in a harsh voice,

"Who are you?"

The boy replied that I had sent the information. I come from Turkistan.

Good! You have come from Turkeistan. I appreciate Qutiba's liveliness. I wrote to Qutiba to come himself or send an experienced general to me and he has sent an eight-year-old child to me," the boy replied with satisfaction.

"My Age is sixteen years and eight months?

Al-Hajjaj ibn Yusuf roared. But what did you come here to get?

What happened to Qutiba?

The boy went ahead and presented a letter without answering.

Al-Hajjaj ibn Yusuf quickly opened the letter and read it and asked with some satisfaction. Why didn't he come directly to me and send this letter to you?

said the boy,

"What are you asking about?"

Al-Hajjaj ibn Yusuf's stamina was responding. He shouted and said,

"That fool about whom Qutiba has written that I am sending my best commander."

The boy then replied with satisfaction. I am the one who is mentioned in the letter of the Qutiba. If you want to meet another idiot, let me.

And the best commander of the title! May God save the unfortunate Muslims fighting in Turkistan from the enemies.

What is your relationship with the title?

"We are both Muslims?"

"What is your position in the army?"

And the intention of turning towards Bukhara and Samarkand from Balkh is probably influenced by the advice of someone like you. Yes, this is my advice and the reason why I came here. I can explain the whole situation to you if you behave for a while.

Qutiba's bitterness was now turning into anxiety.

He said, "If you can explain something to me today, I will say that the effectiveness of Arab mothers' milk has not disappeared.Sit down!" I have been looking at the map since morning.

Tell me why an army which cannot conquer a small city like Surya, is so optimistic about hoisting the flags of victory over a strong and stable city like Bukhara. Yes!
