Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

I was escorted into a nice, almost corporate room by the Flash, and was then left there for him to go call upon the supernatural people who would try to help me as well as meet with the other kids about something and as I was sitting in the Hall of Justice, I realized something that shook me.

'I know this timeline!' I thought excitedly as I remembered how the scene of the Flash and Kid Flash beating up Captain Cold was the prelude to the Young Justice timeline and then I couldn't help but relax into my chair as I realized that I honestly had a good time to prepare for any big threats as most of Young Justices early villains weren't anything that I, a Hollow couldn't stomp with my enhanced physique to say nothing of me simply hitting some idiot with a Bala which would almost certainly be lethal to someone without magic resistance or super strength in general.

Other than Lobo or Klarion the Witch Boy the other heavy hitter villains don't make a big splash at least in the shows. But those two for all their immortality and strength with brawn or magic will face a very simple fact of life should we battle with all my experience in killing immortal demons of hell.

'If I can't beat you, I will just eat you." I thought as even when I fought demons that regenerate whole limbs within seconds or demons that seemed to be missing the concept of death itself. In the end, once their soul was destroyed, they would die regardless of whatever minor reality manipulation they had going on.

I sat there in the meeting room thinking of all the details I could of Young Justice before I realized that after the whole Cadmus affair where the sidekicks freed Superboy, all the events of the show tell of the sidekick's adventures. Did I want to join a bunch of other teenagers and deal with their drama?

I couldn't help but realize that yes if offered such an opportunity that I should take it as joining the League in any way I could provide me a great deal of protection from entities that are in the background such as people that may take umbrage at the idea that an entity that is capable of feasting on human souls is running around though I wasn't planning on just telling them that little tidbit.

Finally, after a half an hour I could feel someone with a strong soul ping off my Pesquisa sensing technique and my head snapped to the door as the person all but teleported within my senses.

A loud knocking came through the door, so I called out for whoever was out there to come in. "Come on in."

Seeing the trio of people coming into the room I couldn't help but twitch as I was expecting maybe Zatara or even Constantine if the League was desperate... But seeing the Lord of Order Dr. Fate, along with Superman, and Batman coming in was definitely a surprise.

"It's an honor to meet you three," I said respectfully but Batman only squinted towards me in response as Superman and Dr. Fate took seats along the meeting room table.

"So, from what the Flash has told us, you are a person who was tossed into hell and morphed into the form you take now under Hell's effect correct?" Batman spoke in his gravelly voice before he held up a finger and placed a recorder on the table. "Seeing as you are invisible to even the high-tech cameras within here, this recorder was given to record statements given by ghosts, that I was given as a gift from Constantine, after cleaning up one of his messes."

Batman almost sounded slightly defensive at how Dr. Fate somehow managed to convey a scowl through his body language at the mention of Constantine and I can't blame him with all the nonsense the man got up into.

But Superman smoothed over the tension as he spoke softly with his country accent coming through. "So, the Flash told us you are still a teenager despite spending some time in Hell... Are you alright son?"

I shook my head before I shrugged. "I was literally thrown onto a new Hell-plane with thankfully weak demons, that I had to frankly slaughter my way to supremacy to the point that I could break through the barriers of hell to come back to Earth... Honestly, I know I am probably mentally compromised and the fact that I am a spirit of sorts that people cannot see or hear without a very strong soul doesn't help either."

"He hasn't lied yet." Dr. Fate said gruffly making me tense at how he looked at me with the glowing eyes of his helmet.

"Why have you come to us, and do you have any form of identification we can use to verify your existence," Batman asked and I once again had to shake my head.

"I believe this to be an alternate Earth to the one I was from, as even when I made my way to Central City a lot of the major highways that I traveled as a kid were changed."

Dr. Fate then interjected again and supported my claim. "His claims are truthful as his soul's signature despite its corruption from the Pits are very different in structure from the native souls of this realm. So, him being from an Earth with a far higher or lower magic concertation compared to our own would confirm his claims of being from an alternate Earth."

Superman sighed and brushed his hands over his face as he mumbled something about wanting to deal with aliens instead of lost teenagers. "Well in any case son how can we help you? Do you want an identity or something?"

I nodded as such a thing would be great, but I focused more on Dr. Fate as I spoke. "I plead for assistance in my plight as more than ninety-nine percent of people cannot register my existence even if I could just get something to force my form to take on a more mortal hue so I can go to a Subway to get a sandwich I would do just about anything for that, as I don't want to have to steal all my meals, as I certainly can't get a job, or something to leave money behind for my stolen food."

Actually, that was kinda a lie as I could certainly get some kind of delivery job that relied on the apps like Doordash and other stuff as unsurprisingly with all the nonsense of the DC. Comics if anything the Cellphones and such were a match for my previous world's technological progression.

"What do you plan on doing for work, or to earn a lifestyle?" Batman asked as he cut to the heart of the issue.

Was I going to be just another villain...

"Honestly with my condition I planned on maybe getting into demolition or open pit mining as I can fairly easily do such a job," I said wryly making Superman facepalm.

"A superhuman whose initial words aren't to become a hero or villain wants to leverage his talent to find work... This is new Haha." He chuckled and I shrugged.

"I mean if the League would be willing to offer me some trial work, I would happily accept but I know I literally have no background and my supernatural nature doesn't help give me credence. So, all I ask is a chance to get my feet under me so I can make a life for myself." I spoke tiredly.

Batman and Superman shared a silent look and a sort of mental conversation that was broken apart as Dr. Fate loudly hummed. "Hmm, my host and I agree that you certainly have great magical talent, especially for the arts that deal with the soul as frankly, your soul is simply by far the greatest, I have seen in my many years that wasn't a God's soul." Dr. Fate shifted before with a sigh his arms lifted up, and he seemed to sag as the helmet was lifted, and a very old man gently placed the helmet on the meeting room table.

"Me and Fate have come to the conclusion that he needs to be trained and more importantly kept from the dark magic users that will sense his presence and attempt to use him for any number of things." Kent Nelson said tiredly as he sagged in the back of his chair, and I was reminded for all his magical power he was still damn near a hundred years old, and in the end a pure human whose lifespan was on the cusp of ending.

"What are you saying Dr.?" Batman said as he tensed at how morose the older man looked.

Kent Nelson was an antihero, and it showed as he tiredly spoke. "I will speak clearly then. His singular soul is worth more than a hundred million souls so should a demon or other magical entity get hold of it, they could easily use that singular powerful soul to enchant a matchless evil object, or likewise use it for a terrible ritual that could upset the nature of the planet." He then focused on me as he spoke. "In that case, he is a walking nuclear bomb that can be set off should a warlock get his hands on his soul. So, things need to be done to secure his soul from the likes of Klarion and other entities that will covet his soul."

The old man then rapped his hands on the table as he looked away from me to Batman as I kept my face placid, at the thought of that dumbass Klarion managing to steal my soul before I blasted him with a maximum power Cero. "Batman I am calling in my favors. I want him on that little league team you got in the works so he can get his feet underneath him, as the reagents to create something to bind him to the mortal world so people can see him will need me or Zatara to go to the Fairy Realms to barter. Which will obviously take time as no one knows how long we will be in the land of the Fae."

"Kid, do you know of Wonder Woman's Lasso of Truth?" Superman asked me and I nodded making him hum as Batman pushed Kent's seat away from us so he could converse under some glowing wards that Kent threw up. "Will you consent to wearing her Lasso and confirming you mean this world and the Justice League inhabitant's no harm?" I didn't even hesitate as I quickly nodded.

"Yeah, that's no problem at all!" I said making Batman and Kent turn back to me with Kent waving his hand through the air to dispel the golden glyph that isolated their conversation.

"Well, Batman I am going to throw my ring in the hat, and support him being added to the team if he gets checked with the Lasso," Superman said happily before a loud beep came from a small screen mounted on his wrist. "I need to go. There is large seismic activity in Hawaii and a possibility of an eruption coming in the future." He said before powerwalking out of the meeting room to probably go to a Boom Tube to get teleported.

Batman merely nodded as Kent gave him a look before he looked to me. "I will give you a list of questions later to be answered by the Lasso of Truth do you have anything you wish to tell me now before you are asked about any possible crimes you may have completed in the past?" He asked gruffly.

For a moment I blanked before I realized other than some jaywalking, I hadn't really committed any real crime that I was aware of. "I have not done any major crime that I am aware of. The only violence I have perpetuated was during my stint in Hell and I will not fight with such intensity unless an alien or demon invasion comes."

Batman grunted in acknowledgment before he stood up. "Very well I will have the test done as soon as Wonder Woman is free with her whip. In the meantime, Dr. Fate and I have duties that need us so stay here for another half an hour so one of our colleagues can get you situated in a more permanent setup."

Dr. Fate who had already put back on the helmet so Fate could pilot his aged body, and even stand up nodded to me as he likewise walked out of the meeting room with Batman, and I could only sigh as I slumped over and rested my head on the table in front of me as I replayed our meeting over in my head.

"Well, that went well," I muttered as I realized that with how disdainful Dr. Fate was of my Hell-tainted form it's lucky, he didn't attempt to banish or screw me over.
