Chapter 1 - The purple sky

As usual Kai woke up at 6:00 AM. It was still dark outside but he had to get ready for college.

"F*ck, I don't want to go..."

After murmuring to himself he started dressing up. Then he went downstairs towards kitchen to eat something before going out.

When he was done with his breakfast Kai noticed something weird. He looked outside his window.

"What the hell!?"

He couldn't believe what he was looking at. He quickly went to his backyard to make sure he wasn't seeing things.

Even when he went outside, he still couldn't believe it. The sky turned purple and there were two suns. The old, same sun he was used to and another violet one. Although the violet sun was two times smaller than the regular one it seemed to be getting bigger.

No, it didn't just seem to get bigger. It actually was getting bigger or rather getting closer. That violet sun was getting closer to Earth.

Kai just stood there paralyzed, staring at the purple sky. His mind went blank and soon he lost consciousness.

When Kai woke up in his backyard, he was looking at sky. It looked the same as always. It was blue with some clouds here and there, as well as with only one sun.

Now that he thought about it that other sun most likely wasn't sun but violet meteorite that was crashing towards Earth.

He then stood up and looked around. Everything was normal, nothing changed.

Was he hallucinating? Or maybe sleep walking? Maybe he didn't wake today up at all?

Still somewhat dumbfounded Kai went inside his house and looked at the clock that was hanging on the wall. It was 1:02 PM. He was late to school.

Honestly at this point it wasn't even worth going there as his lessons would end soon anyway, but he decided to go anyway.

He was thinking of excuses he could use to get away with missing most of his lessons since saying he was late, because he was looking at the end of the world didn't seem like the best one.

When Kai opened his front door and went outside, he suddenly stopped. He felt something was weird. It wasn't as weird as seeing purple sky but still weird.

He looked around and noticed there weren't any people around. Sure, his neighbourhood wasn't the most crowded one, however there not being anyone around felt off.

Then he spotted a car in the middle of the road. Why was that weird? Because it just stood there without anyone being actually inside of it. Even the engine was on and the keys were still inside.

Now that he looked around there were several cars that were in the same situation.

Kai felt chill go down his spine. Something was definitely wrong. He just knew it.

He decided to go back inside for now.

He quickly ran towards his TV and turned it on. What answered him was only static. He then remembered the existence of smart phones. He didn't waste a single second as he took out his own phone. It turned on but he didn't have access to internet so he couldn't check news or anything else.

He looked at his old radio that stood on top of his fridge. He switched it on and tried to find working channel. But all he could hear again was static.

Kai panicked a little. What now?

He went back outside and got to the front door of the nearest house. He rashly rang the doorbell and knocked on the door. After doing it for about 2 minutes he gave up and went for the other house. And the other. And another. And another after that one.

Nobody answered him in the end. He was alone.

"But it's normal, right? I'm not living in that big of a neighbourhood anyway and it's the outskirts of the town. Most people living here are outcasts and live alone like me. And it's not that weird that they aren't home at this hour. They have work and school, right? Right?"

Kai went into denial. He couldn't accept the reality around him. He decided that his best option was to go back home and play some games. Yes, that's definitely the best course of action in this situation.

After sun set Kai finally resolved himself to accept what was happening. He saw a purple sky and meteorite falling, lost consciousness and found out he was alone. This wasn't good. It definitely wasn't good.

But still, what was he supposed to do now? It's not like he was going to go back to school. That would be ridiculous.

For now, he decided to take one last look outside his house.

When he opened the front door, he immediately froze. There was purple mist waiting for him outside. It was so thick Kai could barely see anything.

The mist flowed inside the house through his opened door and scared Kai out. He closed the door right away, though some mist still got inside. It slowly dispersed but Kai already breathed some in. What if it was poisonous? Was he going to die now?

But even after waiting a while nothing happened. Maybe it wasn't poisonous after all?

Something told Kai that he had to go inside that mist again.

Kai gathered his remaining courage and once again opened the door. The mist again started flowing inside his house. He took deep breath, which wasn't the smartest move considering what was happening, and went deeper inside the mist.

He stopped after going for a bit and looked around. He couldn't see anything through the mist. Only his house was somewhat visible.

He started feeling ticklish, but not in a bad way, so he thought it was fine.

But then he noticed something in the mist.

Something was moving around him.

And Kai had a feeling it wasn't very friendly.
