Chereads / Falling In Love With Jeremy / Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

Allison and her husband were at it again. They had started when Jason had just returned from work and Allison had peeked through the window to see if Jeremy had returned with Jason. He sighed, plugging in his earbuds, and drawing the covers up to his chin, he turned to his side to try and get some sleep. Jeremy had been right earlier, they didn't believe his lie and didn't let him off. Minutes later he stopped the music blasting through his ear buds, he heard that Allison and her husband were still yelling at each other. He rolled to face the window, the window which faced his fighting neighbor's window. He didn't know what they were yelling about, but he wouldn't be surprised if it had everything to do with Allison's 'friendly' behavior.

He got bored later since he couldn't really hear any word they were saying. Later he slept off, but couldn't for long, a knock on his door woke him up. Jason at first felt that he must be imagining that, but after the person wouldn't go away, he had no choice but to go down. "Who's that?" He asked.

"Sorry to disturb you so late, it's me, Jason." It was Allison's husband.

"Matt?" He unlocked the door, pulling it open, he saw the young man standing out there looking like a lost sheep, he was dressed in his pyjamas, a pillow and bedsheet in his hands. "W-what's wrong?"

"I'm sure you must have heard the whole fight. I swear we've kept the whole neighborhood awake." He sighed. "I was just wondering if I could crash here for the night? On your couch maybe? I can't handle that woman this night. I have had a rough day and she's dragging me to insanity. I'm really sorry I'm disturbing your sleep, I promise I-"

"It's fine, Matt." Jason agreed to let him in because Matt was a sweet person. He's always nice to everyone, Jason would always under if he was under a curse to have gotten a woman like Allison. He didn't think she deserved. Not like he was saying Allison didn't deserve happiness, but with all the evil he did, he felt she would have chased him away with her nasty attitude since the first day they met. "You can crash on my couch, come in."

"Oh, thank you so much," Matt said gratefully walking inside. "I won't be a bother, I promise."

"It's fine, come on in." Jason went aside to allow the man walk in, and closed the door after him. He cleared his throat, scratching the back of his head as he led Matt to his living room. "So...how is work?"

"Good."

"The children?" Matt paused when he heard it, and this is when Jason remembered that his numbers didn't have any kids. "Oh, I'm sorry. You don't have to answer that."

Matt chuckled shaking his head. "It's fine. I mean, Allison and I have been married for five years now, one would expect that we have those little creatures running about... Allison doesn't want to have kids yet, which is funny because when we got married I mentioned to her how much I wanted kids." Jason chewed his lower lips, not knowing what to say. "I a-am sorry, this is none of your business."

"It's fine. You can sit," he added the last bit when he saw Matt standing awkwardly at the side, like he was waiting for permission to settle down. He smiled gratefully and did as Jason said. "Do you want me to get you anything? Water? Cup of milk? Food?"

"Oh no, not hungry. I just need to... forget the whole day."

"Okay." Now, it was Jason's turn to stand awkwardly, as he wondered what to do. "You know, if you want to talk, I could grab a bottle of beer and we could talk. People do say I'm a great conversation—er?"

Matt chuckled. "No. I don't want to bore you. But thanks a lot for this, I really appreciate. I owe you one."

"No problem, you're welcome."

Jeremy arrived at Jason's place early that morning. He hadn't shown up the previous day because he had to stop at a friend's place, and Jason had told him not to worry. He wouldn't lie that he's been getting worried about him lately, yesterday was the first time Jason had showed up late. Jason had called this morning to tell Jeremy he would be going to work himself, and Jeremy had said he wouldn't bother coming, but here he was, searching his bag for the spare key Jason had given him.

He paused when he heard the mutterings in the house. Last he checked, his best friend was living alone, so he was curious to know who was in there with him. He pressed his ear to the door, raising an eyebrow when he heard laughters. He couldn't believe that Jason had someone over for the night. He put his keys in his bag back since Jason was already up, he wouldn't need that. Jeremy raised his hands to knock, and the second he did down, the laughter died down.

He turned when he heard footsteps approaching. When he turned around he saw Allison. She was wearing a very revealing outfit, he faced the door back, and knocked again, hoping Jason would answer the door fast before she could arrive, but Jeremy wasn't that luckily.

"Jeremy, what are you doing here so early?"

"Oh, came to drive Jason to work."

"Right." She nodded. "The poor man doesn't have a car, right?"

Jeremy was about to answer that before the door was finally opened, he was going to sigh in relief, but when his eyes landed on who it was, he almost choked in disbelief. "Matt?" He was surprised to see Allison's husband in Jason's house, in nothing but his pyjamas, and holding a folded blanket in his hands.

Matt didn't say anything to him, only gave him a small nod and walked past him. He didn't even say anything to his wife, Allison, just headed down and going straight to his house.

"See you later," Allison baded him goodbye before she hurried away.

He watched her till she disappeared into her house, before he proceeded inside. Jason was standing by the stairs, looking straight at him. "Well, you want to explain that?"

"
