Chapter 2 - Pwetty… Mhuaate (The Pendant)

FIVE MORTAL YEARS LATER

It's been five mortal years since Princess Helena took over the role of her mother. She was able to wield the power of the Orb and became the new Great mistress, the guardian of the orb.

Only the higher-ups and some certain immortal gods knew the identity of the Great mistress. Although Lord Kizia's anger was quenched that day, he never stopped searching for those betrayals.

Not long after, he executed all the people that betrayed his mate which led to her death.

All except for one.

After that day Helena took over, the Moon goddess retained her power and the halflings were saved from destruction.

Even the immortals were not destroyed but the fight for the supreme power never ceased. Helena quickly took over her mother's role, going into battle. She became one of the most fearsome warrior princesses of all time.

Although she was powerful, she was the kindest soul ever. She loved and cared for the mortals as she also cared for the immortals.

But that wasn't enough. She needs to have her mate that would complete her.

That's what all the mystic princesses craved and Helena wasn't an exception.

She was eager to have her soulmate.

"My princess, we need to go to the gathering now. Your father would be furious if he noticed you are messing with those halflings again!" A voice urged Helena, who was stuck looking at the orb.

"Frieda, stop panicking! Just look at that halfling, he is so cute! How old is he in the mortal world?" Princess Helena asked.

That was the halfling he saved on the day her mother died. The same halfling whose mother pleaded for his life.

"He should be between four and five years old. Isn't he the baby you saved that night with the orb?" Frieda asked, frowning.

"Yes. I can summon him using the orb. Maybe I should visit him in his dreams and…" Helena said, dreamily.

She was looking at the chubby creature who was running after some other halflings. Just as she was talking, there was a loud sound like thunder.

The two girls immediately stood up.

"Ooops! I am in trouble!" Helena said, biting her lower lips as she thought of what to do.

Helena quickly hid the orb and went straight to her room to get ready for the ceremony. She was to find her mate today and all the eligible men were already waiting for her at the river bank.

She had always hoped for true love, not a man bound to her through her pendant. The pendant was like a mating bond between every princess of the mystical realm and their mates.

It was placed by the river bank where only her mate could see it. The pendant connects them throughout their lives as immortal. It was also a special soul keeper and only the casters of the princess knew the use.

Angry footsteps came into her room." Helena! Helena!"

Helena heard her father's angry voice but refused to come out. The scolding won't stop if he noticed she hadn't even gotten dressed for the ceremony!

"If I don't see you by the Riverside in the next five minutes! I am suspending you from all your duties including the orb!" Her father bellowed before stomping off in anger.

Not the orb! How will she see the cute boy if her father collected it?

Urging her numerous maidens, she got dressed as fast as she could so she could flip there before the five minutes was up!

She wondered who was going to be her mate.

[Boundary Between The Mortal And Immortal World]

In a dense forest, inhabited by strange creatures and immortals, fear was creeping all around. The immortals were shivering in fear and cowardice.

For once in their immortal life, they wished they were just mortals because then, they would have been oblivious to the anger of the dreaded god of the realm, Lord Kizia.

After a while, everywhere went silent. The anger ceased and only the sound of the light footsteps of a little boy was heard.

The immortals watched as the strikingly handsome little boy walked lightly with a pout on his face murmuring a word repeatedly. All they could hear was an incoherent word.

"Mhuaate… Mhuaate… Mhuaate… Pwety Mhuaate"

Not even the most intelligent of all immortals could decipher the encrypted words of the little boy. But they could see he wasn't an immortal or a mortal. He was of the lineage of the one-tenth bloodline descendant of the Lycan blood, the werewolves. They were mortals with longer spans of life than those mere mortals. Lower than the immortals but higher than the human race. What brought him to the Immortal realm hidden from all?

The immortals watched as he disappeared into the thick mist leading to the Ocean bed of the Queen of the seas. Their mouths involuntarily all opened their mouths in shock and sorrow. They believed that was the end of the meddling little pouting yet handsome werewolf. No mortals or half immortals have ever come out of the mist of the Ocean bed, especially during the Princess's mating ceremony.

Unbeknownst to them, the little boy kept walking as he mumbled incoherently. His emerald green eyes were shining as he looked around the Riverbed, and they shone brighter when he caught sight of a beautiful blue-eyed girl with flowing white hair who was wearing a striking flowing white dress.

She was looking stunning and fabulous in the white flowing dress like those fairies the Omegas always told him before bedtime. The little boy hated those stories and thinks of them as boring but looking at the girl before him, it didn't look boring anymore.

Then something caught his eye.

A glowing blue pendant.

He walked towards it clumsily as he picked it up. The people around all gasped at him letting out a muffled growl. The little boy walked towards the fairy tale Princess and tugged at her clothes. He was saying something but she couldn't grasp the meaning. When the child saw that she wasn't responding as he wanted. He tugged at her clothes pulling her face down.

He shoved the pendant into her hands as he smiled. He murmured the same words he had been saying all along to her. He wasn't listening to anyone but the Princess before him.

"Pwety Mhuaate"

Then the boy thumped on the ground surrounded by the gods who wanted nothing but to have him dead.

He was still holding tightly to the pendant.

Princess Helena who was waiting for her soulmate to find her pendant was surprised to see the little halfling she had been watching just this morning shoving the pendant into her hands. What was happening? How can a mortal find this place?

She quickly shoved her thoughts aside, rushing forward to guide him from the force that was about to hit him.

She wasn't going to let him die.
