As he went to unwrap the present excitedly. His eyes opened in exclamation as he gazed upon an ornate weapon glistening in front of him. The wrappings of the blade came off within the box as he pulled it out. The dagger was now being wielded in his right arm as he was about to try and practice his formation to check its compatibility.
Many people began to stare at the latest gift dropped from the ceiling, greedily eyeing him like prey. Realizing his mistake, he quickly conceals his new dagger in his pocket. Most of the gazes receding, but those that remained looked full of purpose and thoughts.
'That item will be mine soon.' This is what he thought most of these people were thinking, and he was right; what defined the line between Ruins' explorers and outsiders was very thin, and as soon as this line was broken again he would be in danger. Food, water, shelter, and greed could change anyone and he knew better than anyone himself. Taking note of this he returned his gaze to the violent people.
Seeing these types of gazes, he instinctively holds the gift closer to his body and pats his pocket to reassure himself that his possessions remain. He then began to peruse the rest of the contents, keeping them within the box to prevent prying eyes from, once again, targeting him.
Now disregarding them since he has adequate privacy, he unwraps the present on the bottom layer again. He picks up a thin square object in the gift box. Confused by all these random and rather small gifts he began wondering. 'Don't these people know I am a swordsman? Sure I appreciate the favor, but I cannot use these things at all besides trading; at least for now.' He was a bit frustrated but he planned to toss the dagger to Davis to get the most benefit, as a member of the Stealth faction he'd guess that Davis would be invested in the dagger skills.
Although by doing this he wasn't sure if he was offending his sponsors or not. Holding the second item within the box so that others could not observe him still he suddenly froze. He identified a picture of himself. Bare naked in the shower with the words "Good Luck <3" written on the bottom caption. "What the hell!?" He nearly blurts out loud in disbelief. Just what kind of deranged pervert had become obsessed with him?
Looking back on his time here he had not done anything to attract the attention of someone's sponsor beyond the countless spars in which he had certainly embarrassed himself in his mind. Looking from the angle of the picture he determined that it was most likely done by some bug camera presumably covering every inch of this space. A realization that sent shivers down his spine but was most likely true.
He was certainly weirded out and crushed up the picture before putting it into his mouth and swallowing it, destroying all traces of the wicked photo. But apparently, that was the end of it as he sifted through the box and found no similar pictures in the box, Relieved he unwrapped the third and final object which had a cylinder shape. Curious he unwrapped this item and found a vial under a bunch of medical jargon he couldn't understand. Flipping the vial around continuously, he identified it as "Vitality Restoration Potion" on the side and was quite skeptical but pocketed it anyway and place it in his other pocket.
Thinking about these gifts he knows speculation would get him nowhere and in the end, it was best not to look a gift horse in the mouth, he sighed and made his way towards another closer area to the platform. Approaching Govero sees that the majority of the crowd has settled down as most people have already opened their presents and the last one had already been delivered correspondingly.
"As you can tell we are moving our expedition forces outside of the Bunker early." He paused as a sense of dread spread throughout the crowds, although they could guess why they were here they did not want to believe it themselves. He continues as the people listen even closer, "The main reasons are because one, the last expedition lost a majority of its forces too quickly; making the number of items gathered from the ruins minuscule. The other is the fact that we can send out many more patrols than before thanks to the lowering of the age limit. You will be given the rest of the day to prepare supplies for yourself. Good Luck Explorers, you'll need it." He says before his floating platform once again seals the ceiling.
Thousands of people surrounding the platform began to disperse in their respective directions, while Ashur had decided to return to his hotel room to collect himself and inspect his items more and hide from the most likely angered Highlander faction. On his way there he felt the presence of Davis behind him due to his fighting sense.
He spoke to me, "Don't be an idiot and go back to your room, where do you think they'll come looking for you? Not to mention you'll have no way of escaping, even if they can't kill you they can cripple you before everyone is released. Let's go to my factions base instead, not even the other sects know how to get in without being escorted.
"Very well." He responded.
