When Haruki opened his eyes, he was inside a familiar bedroom, complete with all its modern conveniences and comforts. The overhead light was dim, bathing the dark room with a soft glow, rivaled only by the bright screen of a computer monitor. The comfy but musky-smelling old bed, the wall shelves full of books and figurines, the scattered papers on the desk - reminders of what once was the boring life of one Sano Haruki.
Dazed and confused, Haruki could only gape at the scenery. "I-I'm back…?"
The mattress beneath him was smooth and thick, the blanket slowly falling off his legs was made of cheap cotton, and the body pillow embarrassingly showed a handsome anime character in a provocative pose. There was no doubt about it - he was sitting inside his so-called "nest" in the one-bedroom apartment he called home.
