It looked like Jay had absorbed his lifeforce in one gulp, all the tiredness and weakness he was feeling disappeared. Kyles's number two and only handful of guards saw, what Jay did with Kyle, they were all scared to death after seeing Jay's happy face.
"My lord, please forgive our ignorance, we had no idea that you were a god."
"God or not, the things you were about to do with those girls, were way above my imagination."
"Please, believe us we just found out what Mr. Kyle was thinking of doing, Argos organization does have some codes, and not hurting innocent child is one of them"
Jay was surprised by himself as he did not feel even a hint of guilt after taking someone's life, but now the confusion was that should he leave all of them alive because calling cops was not an option, as he was the one who took a life, but what if they come for revenge?
"I have to be somewhere right now, take care of all of this stuff and release those girls right now."
"Yes, my lord whatever you say"
Jay went out of the room, where all the girls were escorted back to their homes. Jennie was standing still shivering, one of the guards asked Jennie for her home address so that he can drop her off.
"It's alright she is with me."
Jay told the bodyguard to drop them at Jennie's home, but Jennie insisted on going back to school. On the way back in the car Jennie was quiet almost all the way, he was confused, what he can do to comfort her?
"Jennie, It's alright now, they won't hurt you anymore."
Jennie started crying suddenly, seeing this Jay put his hand around her shoulder and she cried her eyes out in his arms.
"Please, do me a favor, don't tell my dad about this. He is always concerned about me, he'll go crazy if he hears about it."
"Alright I won't, but are you sure you want to go to school? we can just make something up and tell your father"
"No, we can't, he'll figure out that something is wrong."
Doc was standing outside the school, he was worried that he could not find her daughter and Jennie's mobile was broken after she fell to the ground. As soon as both of them got off the car, the doc came running toward them with a worried face.
"Where have you guys been? Your match is already started, I was worried sick."
"Sorry dad my phone broke and I wasn't feeling well, so Jay took me to a nearby clinic."
"Oh my god! Are you okay now? we should go home."
"It's fine now dad, it was just a headache. I need to join the game, cheer me from inside"
Jennie ran toward the gym, the doc looked at Jay's face hoping for some explanation but Jay just shrugged his shoulder without saying anything and they also went to join the game inside the gym.
"By the way, who was that who dropped you here?"
"Just some new friends that I made in the clinic, they were happy to give us a ride back."
"What about the results of the test, is it done?"
"Yeah, we can go back to the lab after the game."
"Okay!"
Jay told doc with a kind smile on his face. Jennie's team won the game, she couldn't perform very well in the game, her father try to console her on the way back home, they dropped Jennie at home after getting off from the car she even thanked Jay for everything and went directly to the lab.
Jay also called Themis on the way to the lab to let her join them in the lab, she was more than happy to join them, so they picked her up as well.
"By the way, have you been keeping tabs on other gods"
"What do you mean keeping tabs?"
Jay looked confused and asked back Themis.
"Well, you are a god, you should at least know what others are trying to do, I am pretty sure, even if we are not in direct contact with them, it'll eventually affect us for sure."
"I don't care about all this now, I just want to understand what's happening to me?"
"Anyway you should know, All the gods are going public almost every day, with different promises to make the world a better place. "
Doc wasn't the kind of person who would take interest in politics, but he knew, if he wanted to uncover the secrets of gods, he had to meet more of them, that is also the reason he wanted to help Jay.
"Better place huh...exactly how they are trying to do that?"
"They have their ways, just yesterday Zeus promised enough rainfall in South African and Odin has vowed to protect humanity from demons, even though their sitting is very low and here I am trying to figure out the biology of our body."
"Someone famous once said, before telling what others can be, you should know what you are."
Doc looked back at Themis and smiled with this. After reaching the lab, the doc started a small presentation that he prepared to explain them.
"Your DNA was different from Themis, her genes can generate a rare protein, that is available in every living being in small amounts, I have never heard of this protein before so, I started calling them B12, that protein is one of the reason that she was able to use her powers."
"Alright, then what about me?"
"Your DNA does not possess that gene, so you cannot produce that protein on your own, so your body is trying to absorb that protein from your surrounding, even your blood cells were trying to do that, they are still alive and kicking, but I feel like shit."
"SO that is the reason people feel sick around me because I am absorbing this protein from them."
"Maybe, or it could be your fucked up personality too "
Themis winked at Jay mocking him.
"But I haven't felt like that whole day even though we almost spent the whole day together since before the game, did you do something different?"
Jay knew, that it was because he sucked the whole life force of Kyle, since then he was feeling up to the mark, but he knew he could not tell the doc about what happened.
"I don't know I have been trying to stay calm for some time may that helped, but doc the B12 protein that you are talking about, is it important for living beings?"
"Yes, very. Humans have limited amount which is present in them since birth it can't be produced, but Themis body can produce it in a small interval."
"Things make a lot of sense now."
"It would be much better if we could compare your samples with other gods as well."
Doc was pretty excited the whole time, even when he was explaining. Themis asked Jay to train with her so that he can control his power better. Themis took Jay to a closed playground out of the city, so that they can practice alone.
"Now show me what you got!"
"I don't want to hurt you."
"That's sweet of you, but the power that I saw, while you were fighting with those muggers, is definitely not enough to beat me, kid."
Jay raised his hands toward her, and moved his hand in swiping gesture toward the side, in that instant Themis was about to move but she was thrown on her left making a big hole in the wall.
It seemed like, it took a lot less effort to use his power and the force was almost double, Themis claimed back to this side of the wall from the same hole.
"Well it seems like, I have underestimated you."
"Are you okay?"
"Don't show those concerns in between battles!"
Themis raised her hands immediately and a golden arrow made of light started firing toward Jay, it took him by surprise, Jay raised his shield instantly but still, he was thrown back two steps.
"This will work for now."
Themis said and started throwing those arrows continuously at him, Jay was getting thrown back with every hit, Jay took down his shield and did a barrel roll in the ground to dodge the attack, he used his power to pick an iron rod and threw that at Themis.
They practiced quite a few times that evening, and after that, they were sitting on the beach resting before going to their house.
"Why did you lie to doc?"
"About what?"
"About you not knowing you, why you are feeling better."
"How do you know about it?"
"I told you, I am the goddess of justice, there is no lie that I cannot catch."
"That's quite handy power you have."
Jay told the incident with the Argos organization and how he consumed their boss's life, Themis also admitted that she was looking for the boss of that organization for some time.
"Thanks for making my work easier, give me their address I'll finish them off"
"Let me take care of them, I think we can find something useful from them."
