KLEIN'S POV
I watched as the boar trudges its way deeper to the forest. I had wounded it earlier when it came across me while I was training, all I needed to do is to finish it up. As I am aiming my arrow at it, someone had decided to block my view which have completely annoyed me. This meat would surely give me a lot of money so I can't just let it go. I have to aim at it now or it will be taken by others. What is that human doing sauntering in the midst of the forest?!
Well, its now or never.
JANE'S POV
Three days. I have only three days before I embark to my new journey. I will surely miss this place but I will return here and surely not as a resident. Inhaling deeply, I feel refreshed. I have always like the forest air as it always makes me calm.
I am in this state when I barely feel something had passed me and I then hear the scream of a boar. I went for it and saw an arrow pierced on the boar and then I heard commotions to my back, preparing myself for the worst, I prepared myself to attack. Reaching for my dagger, I turned and attack my attacker only to be blocked.
"Whoa! Wait" he said when I'm about to do a follow up attack.
I recognized the voice, I have only seen him a few times but it is enough to recognize him.
"Klein". I said, but while it calms me that he is somehow someone I know, what he said next completely make my mood took a 180 degree turn.
"You are a moron", He said looking at me like I just made the dumbest decision in my life
"You should have known that keeping your opinion especially on those kind of remarks would be the safest thing to do. If you do that to attract my attention, you're doing it so poorly" I said, annoyed.
But rather than an apologetic face, all I saw is a calculated and somehow indifference look.
"Pardon me, Lady Jane" he said dismissively which heightened my annoyance. I watched him as he went to his hunt.
"You know, what you did is quite dangerous, you could've killed me."
"It looks like you have a misconception upon this place, your importance is no more than this meat Lady Jane. You probably have not known as your parents still pays for your living. But people living in this place are treated worthless and useless. I could just leave your corpse in here and everyone would just thought you misbehave against your master. Well in your case, you don't have a master, so probably someone of importance who takes a liking to you for which you have refused. Not even your parents could go against with it".
"I know that. It is the reason why I will leave this place".
"And becomes a slave? As far as I'm concerned, all you have been offered is an elegant prison".
There is nothing I could say to that because it is the truth. I am aiming to be the first, that means being a wife to Prince Jasper, It doesn't matter if I like it or not. However that is not the only thing that's in it.
"But I'll be at home, I will be with my family and I will have my revenge and take what's rightfully mine". I said resolutely.
And then something occurred to me, "How did you know about that?"
"I am close to Sir Thomas, he said shrugging.
"I am done here, would you prefer to stay or come with me?" he asked after he secured the meat.
"I'd rather stay", I said. I watched him walked away without even a glance back at me. I stayed but not for long as the serenity I have felt earlier was already gone.
