The vehicle left the underground tunnel and entered the street. Samael's HUD displayed the direction he needed directly onto the road. The vehicle screamed down the road as Samael pushed the vehicle to accelerate faster.
"I am tuning cylinders four and five, they are firing late." Angel said as she looked over the displays in front of her.
"Good," Samael said as he made a hard right turn. He was actively adjusting the suspension and power to each wheel to maintain speed in the turn. He did not need to look at the number for he could feel it.
The cybernetics let him feel and know everything about the vehicle as he drove. The vehicle was also made with special equipment letting him tune and adjust everything on the fly. This meant that at this time he was one with the vehicle in the truest meaning of the word.
Samael took the vehicle onto the city's freeway system and accelerated. The engine screamed as it pushed past 210 kilometers per hour. The whole vehicle moved down to compensate for the high speeds.
"We are flying now." Angel said as Samael overtook a vehicle.
"No point in wasting time on the drive there." Samael said as he moved past another vehicle.
"But what if I wanted to enjoy this ride with you?" Angel said leaned over closer to Samael.
"We are not here for a Sunday drive Angel." Samael replied.
"I know that. But would it kill you to treat me to something nice every now and then?" Angel asked as she teleported from the passenger seat to the seat behind Samael and put her arms around his neck and leaned her face close to his.
"Did you have anything in mind?" Samael said as he shifted the vehicle and changed lanes.
"Well what am I limited to?" Angel whispered into Samael's ear.
"You will have to work with your limitations. But if I am able I do not see a problem with giving you what you want." Samael said taking the freeway interchange extremely fast.
"Now that gives me some options. I will have to think about it. But thanks 231. You are always good to me." Angel said as she kissed him on the neck and then teleported back into the passenger seat.
"Regardless of anything I am responsible for you." Samael said taking an off-ramp.
"You make it sound like we are married 231." Angel said, looking over at Samael.
"You were tasked with assisting me and I was tasked with protecting you." Samael said as he flew through an intersection.
"That is true but other commanders do not even have conversations like this with their AI's." Angel said as she looked over the displays.
"Other commanders do not have their AI's downloaded to their cerebral implants." Samael said as he dodged an oncoming vehicle.
"True but we are almost there. I see two out front right now and I know you would not want me any other place than in your head." Angel said as Samael took another turn keeping the vehicle's speed above 80 kilometers per hour.
"I see them." Samael said as he lowered the front suspension and ran right into the two men out front. He continued down the road for another hundred meters and turned around.
"Well that is one way of dealing with them." Angel said as she looked over at Samael. He did not respond and only backed the vehicle up into an alleyway before getting out. As he walked over to the two men he had hit he shouldered his rifle.
Samael walked over and took a knee down next to the first man. He was dead already but had a communication set on him. Samael reached down and picked it up letting Angel get the codes off the unit.
"I got them. We can listen to everything they say now. I am a little disappointed they did not even use five-x encryption." Angel said as Samael stood up and walked to the other man.
He was alive but could not move much due to the broken bones and shattered organs. He coughed up some blood as Samael looked down at him. Samael did not waste time and slammed his foot onto the man's neck, breaking it instantly.
"That is still a sound I hate." Angel said as she looked down at the dead man.
"Nothing new to me." Samael said as he lifted his foot and made his way to the door. The building was a large warehouse near the industrial section of the city. It was a good location for them to hide but also a good location for Samael for not many people will be walking around.
"I know that one, 231. But I still don't like it." Angel said as she followed behind him. Samael did not respond; he just opened the door slowly and looked inside. His eyes adjusted instantly to the dim ceiling lights of the warehouse.
He made his way into the room hugging the right wall with his rifle raised. His footsteps did not even make a sound as he moved. The dampers on his boots added a film to the bottom that stopped them from making sounds. He could hear some people talking as he moved along the wall.
"How long are we going to have to wait here?" A man said from the other side of some crates.
"No clue, the boss said he would be down sometime in the morning. We just have to keep her overnight." The other man responded. As they talked Samael made his way onto some boxes to overlook the two men talking.
The two men had started talking about sports as Samael moved to a good shooting position. After getting a good line of sight on them, he pointed his rifle at them and shot. The round hit both men, dropping them to the ground.
Samael started to move immediately after he fired the first round. With the element of surprise now gone he moved fast. He could hear the other scrambling around the warehouse looking for where the shot came from.
He could hear them talk over their communications, it was easy to predict how their movements would be. Samael stopped moving when he got a good line of sight on the main door he entered from. He picked up his rifle and pointed it at the door.
Just as he thought, two men ran to the door to look outside. Just as one touched the door Samael let off the round, he then adjusted and shot the other man. He had squeezed off both rounds before the first man was even hit. Samael then started to move, he was not going to give them the ability to find him.
The height he got from the boxes gave him the advantage for now. But he did not expect that they would get a sniper up as fast as they did. He heard the sniper call out his location over the radio.
Samael stopped and looked to his right and saw the sniper's location. He was inside of a crane used to move large boxes inside the warehouse. He was pointing a large sniper at him but Samael and beat him to the trigger.
He did not fire a normal round but shot the under barrel launcher instead. The round hit the sniper dead in the chest and then he was gone. Vaporized by the high explosive warhead going off in his chest. It also caused the entire cab of the crane to explode.
"That looked like it hurt ." Angel said, as Samael jumped off the top of the boxes and landed on the ground floor. As he started to run he heard some men behind him, Samael immediately turned so they did not see him.
He did not want them to zero in on his position just yet. Thinning three numbers was important right now. There were too many unknown things right now and he could not afford to be careless.
Samael waited for the two men to run past. Then he peeked out, letting off two rounds right into their back. Before the sound could even echo he had moved on to the next row of containers.
The radio chatter was lighting up with new orders. Someone was taking charge of them, and they knew what they were doing. Samael paused for a moment and reloaded his under barrel launcher, as he listened to the orders.
"All units stop running around. Group up and clear the rows in a line. Sniper team two get to position three and over watch the zones three and four. Heavy three and two guard zone one, Heavy one join the ground units and clear all other zones." The man said over the radio.
Based on his orders he would have to deal with the snipers first. They are the ones that are going to limit his movements around and inform the others of his direction of travel. They would have to go first.
"Do you think the heavy units will take more than one round to kill?" Angel asked as she appeared in the lower left part of his vision. She had changed her appearance to appear like a chibi version of herself.
"I see you kept the dress." Samael thought as he climbed onto some of the boxes and looked around.
"Well you did give it to me. How could I just throw it out?" Angel said as she took a seat.
"You can't take it off can you?" Samael thought as he saw the sniper team moving on the rafters.
"No, that is not true. I can remove it anytime I want. I just did not want to distract you with my beautiful body." Angel said as she crossed her arms and looked away from him.
"If you are good I will let you know how to remove it." Samael thought as he fired a round at the sniper. The bullet hit the sniper in the head, splattering brain matter all over the wall.
"Really you will?" Angel said, looking back at him with puppy dog eyes.
"I always keep my word. Don't I?" Samael thought as he fired the next round at the last remaining sniper. Hitting him in the chest and knocking him off the rafters.
"You always do 231." Angel said as she winked at him.
After taking out the snipers Samael started to move down the row of boxes keeping his eyes out for any people that could be near him. As he moved he could hear the radio chatter talk about how the snipers have all been taken out.
The radio let him know they were going to be dividing up into squads to find him. As He listened to the radio several bullets hit boxes near him, prompting him to immediately get down off the boxes. Just as his feet touched the ground a man rounded the corner and looked right at him.
They both raised their guns and shot. Samael shot the man right in the head. The other bullet hit Samael's right forearm armor plate. The other man was only using a submachine gun meaning its rounds were not particularly powerful.
Samael then began to move closer to the dead body, The radio was alive with all manner of orders to converge on his location. He knew that the corridors and narrow hallways in between the boxes would play to his strengths. All Shock Troopers were experts in trench warfare.
Samael rolled his shoulders forward and tucked his chin in. This was how they were trained to clear trenches. With his shoulders forward and chin down he closed off almost all the gaps in his upper armor giving him even better protection from the front. But this also did not make the gaps in his back much bigger.
With his posture now changed Samael brought up his rifle he had seen people getting ready in front of him. Just as he saw four men peeked out from the right and left side boxes. Two taking a knee and the other two standing so they could all shoot at him at one time.
Both parties exchanged rounds, the four men opening up with fully automatic fire. Samael remained calm and took out each man one after the other. But as he did so the other one's bullets ricochet off his armor plates.
He did not leave this engagement unscathed. Three rounds hit his under-suit but they did not penetrate, another two landed and did penetrate. They hit his left quad and right side. Due to his augmentations even light penetrations like this did not affect him.
But just as Samael reached the four dead bodies he heard a familiar sound. A firing strike of a rocket propelled grenade setting off the ignition of the warhead. Samael quickly dropped to a knee and turned to his right just in time to see the warhead flying at him.
Samael did not have time to avoid it. But he moved so it would ricochet off his right shoulder. As the rocket hit his shoulder he could feel the plates digging into the arm and chest. It was only for a moment then the rocket collided with the box next to him.
He was showered in bits of wood and fire. His eyes did not close, he was focused on the man who had shot it at him. He could feel bits of the shrapnel colliding with the armor and under-suit. Some would penetrate but he did not care he raised his rifle and shot the man center mass as the fire fully engulfed his body.
