“Why do you sound so nervous, little vampire?” His breath fanned my neck.
“It's nothing, my king.” I chuckled. “I was caught unawares, that's all.” I tried to sound as if I weren't hiding from him all along.
“Come with me. I have something to show you.” He took my hand in his and started leading me directly opposite the place I was heading towards.
“My king. That's—”
“Relax.” He chuckled. “I'm not going to hurt you, am I?”
“No, my king.” I swallowed.
The only thing he's going to likely hurt is my butt.
He took me past the river Grog pointed out to me when we passed.
“I'm the only one who knows this place.” He grinned. “You will love it, I promise.”
I nodded without saying a word.
The vampire king took me by the hand and walked straight to a completely hidden path.
Had he not been the one leading the way, I doubt I would have known there was a path there.
He continued walking until we got to a giant tree.
“We are here.” He grinned.
