The rescue team's helicopter was not headed for their expedition's starting point, but another location within the mountain range, a branch of the Nan Chong scientific research base.
Some of the team concluding their scientific research mission would rest and recover there.
After landing at the branch of the Nan Chong scientific research base, Feng Yi saw a group of patrol rangers and their trained dogs as they alighted from the helicopter.
Seeing Feng Yi looking in that direction, Teacher Lei introduced them to him, "They are the local patrol rangers, who enter the mountains to patrol from time to time."
"They take dogs with them for mountain patrols?" Feng Yi asked curiously.
"Yes," replied Teacher Lei. "Every patrol can unearth something, and they've even dug up bodies before, both human and animal."
This was why just before leaving, Teacher Lei had remarked, "The forests hide many secrets, and only a very small part of them are discovered by people."
