Four months had passed and the day of the exam was right around the corner, around the last year dorm both men and women fall in silence, everyone was resting after months of training and studying about the common monsters in the area of the exam. as everyone else was resting Asuna and Rean went outside the academy area and to the city to some may call it a date but that wasn't a date to them, they just loved being with each other.
In the city, both of them enjoyed the time they had spent there while trying to not blush when walking side by side both of them visited the local blacksmith, so he could maintain and upgrade Reans daggers and Asuna sword.
As they walked there they heard yelling from the inside of the store.
"YOU MORON LOOK AT WHAT YOU HAD DOWN!! , YOU RUINED MY BOW!!" one angry and arrogant customer yelled at the blacksmith while waving his hand all over the place.
Both Asuna and Rean that ran inside recognized him as Peter the eldest son of a local noble that studies in the classroom with them.
Rean who grow up in the city and had known the blacksmith since he was a kid grabbed Peter's hand in front of all the people that gathered around and he didn't let go and that made Peter even angrier.
"WHO DO YOU THINK YOU TOUCHING ?!, SAKAMOTO I CAN END YOUR CAREER RIGHT NOW!!" Peter was livid, Rean had embarrassed him in front of many people.
"first of all Peter, apologize to Nate, and then fuck off got it." Rean already know to get under Peter's skin and frankly, it didn't take that much time to learn how to do that.
As laughter was heard around the shop Peter's face turned red as a tomato, he completely lost it not only that he didn't want to apologize he also wanted that Rean will be banished from the city he threatened to do that with his father's help, while Nate tried to calm him down with the help of Peter butler they actually got him to stop yelling, Rean who had enough of this nonsense looked at Peter.
"Hey, Peter you said that you want me to leave the city right?" he asked with a smile.
Peter who was confused looked at him, "where are you getting at?".
Rean continued "what about we make a bet, the one who scores the lowest grade in the exam tomorrow between the two of us does whatever that the winner wants, what do you...ah". Rean's words were cut as Asuna dragged him aside, as Peter watch with a puzzled expression.
"What are you doing rean, you're not that stupid you should know by now, he will probably try to sabotage the bet". Asuna said with a concerned tune.
"Asuna, calm down I'm already aware of it, but this might be our last chance to teach him a final lesson" Rean smiled as Peter came to his senses.
"Sakamoto, just to be sure if I win you're leaving the capital right?" Peter already imagined a world in which Rean doesn't exist.
"you got that right, Ris, but if I win you will be apologizing to Nate in front of all the people that are present right now inside and outside of the store, fine?"
"you're on Sakamoto," Peter said as he grabbed his bow, "now I just need to have an actual good blacksmith to work on this and that commoner." after he left the people that gather there finally decided to leave, and quickly only Rean, Asuna, and Nate were the only people at the store.
Asuna was the one who broke the silence, "so what is your plan Rean? how you are going to counter the cheater?".
"You should calm down, I'm going to the test like I was going before, nothing changed right, Nate?"
"To be honest kid, I'm not sure why you did that but that was for me so thank you, how about we get both of your weapons upgraded on the house" Nate winked at Rean. After a while, the two left and went back to the academy it was one hell of a day that wasn't over it, as the two made their way to the school grounds, the vice principal was there to greet them.
'Well you two sure took your time" he said as he looked at Rean.
"Oh, so I see you've already heard about the little incident," Rean said with Asuna at his side that looked at him as if she was ready to punch him until he regrets thinking about the bet.
"WE heard, you should say that to all the people around the academy, everyone already talking about the bet and the consequences of the bet!, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?" the vice principal would have continued if he hadn't remembered that Leon asked to bring Rean to his office the moment he arrived after he took deep breaths he continued:" you should go to Leon, he was waiting to your arrival for a while, but go alone, Asuna you should go to the dorms go get some rest, tomorrow will be a big day."
Asuna and Rean said goodbye to one another and each one left for his business, Rean and the vice principal went to Leon's office and Asuna went to get some rest after that crazy day.
On the academy's main building on the ground floor and near the teachers' loge, the principal office is located Rean and the vice made their way there in dead silence as hallways were empty. As they entered the office they saw Leon standing in front of his bookshelf.
"you can stop the act, we all know you can't read," Rean said as the vice principal stood next to him with an approving nod, that made Leon question his life decision.
"don't be like that Rean, is that how kids talk to their adoptive dads these days?" he asked the both of them.
"alright Rean, let's get down to business I heard that you caused quite a commotion in town today, if you want to flex in front of your girlfriend so much there's another way to do that you know," Leon smirked which made Rean blush.
"Can you get to the point old man? I had a long day I just wanna go to bed" the tired Rean begged.
"Fine, Peter Ris's father messenger came here an hour ago, he told me that since the baron Victor Ris heard about what want down at the town, honestly I'm surprised you'd even came back alive"
Rean cut Leon mid-sentence, "I mean it's not like the first time I escaped death, you should know that better than everyone" Rean weaved his hand like a sign of victory.
"Let me proceed Rean, so after he finished explaining to me about Victor's anger levels, he then proceeded to say many boring things to be frankly I also didn't care enough to listen but he also said that I should give you a punishment for your behavior".
Rean looked straight into Leon's eyes, "And?"
"Oh I told him to go F himself, this is my school, and in this place, I call the shots, there's nothing manlier than true bet and between man," he said proudly.
Rean was confused, "so why did you call me for?"
"That I just wanted to make sure, you're not going to use that to win the bet right?"
"We already talked about it, gramps that ability is a last ace in the sleeve, so calm down as long that Peter won't try something stupid I won't use that" he reassured his adoptive father.
Leon sighed "fine I guess, that the exam will gonna be over smooth" he may have said that but deep down he know that will be a famous last words.
