The war between the mages and demons the war lasted for a couple of days and yet the cost of lives was immeasurable, while some nobles and the royal family were safe at the center of the capital the commoners were there on the battlefield not to their desire their houses and village were not in the priority of the army to protect, and that was the first spark in the relationship between the commoners and the nobles, the commoners were holding out a hope that in one of these days someone will arrive and will become their knight in shining armor who will change the way that the kingdom is going.
5 years after- in the park of the magic academy of Nakamura
A dark blue-haired teen set under a tree while reading a book, his face was peaceful as if the war had never happened and his social status hasn't made him many enemies from noble houses. Suddenly a voice was heard from the distance the teen raised his head from his book as he heard a familiar voice calling out his name.
"Rean!", he called him out. "you're going to be late for the principal ceremony, are you sure you want to mess with that maniac on our last year?", he asked.
Rean got back on his feet while closing his book. A sigh came from his mouth "you gotta be kidding me, Shon, that old man can't give me a break even now?, I heard that speech a hundred times: every year, and every time he asked me to be his fake audience to practice". He raised his hands as a sign of surrender.
Shon looked at his best friend for a couple of seconds and started to break down with laughter only to raise his head and meet Rean's black stare.
"I'm sorry rean, it's just that the great rean, the one that is our school ace and the one who made every nobility house angry, finally snapped" he continued. "It's not like you have a choice you see" Shon started to smile, a smile that made Rean uncomfortable "you see rean, Asuna is also looking for you," he said with a sinister tone.
"let's just go," rean answered while imagining the certain talk with the swordswoman about arriving on time. The two set their sight at the auditorium that always hosted the entrance ceremony to the academy.
Outside of the auditorium, a group of four last year's students waited in silence for both Rean and Shon. The silence was broken down when a burgundy-haired girl that had enough started to get frustrated "WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH HIM?" she yelled.
"Asuna calm down," another teen with black hair said calmly, "I'm sure there's a reason why he isn't here, so please calm down"
Asuna that had known Rean since childhood always look after him just like he looked after her. the other student also tried to calm Asuna down, but one brown-haired teen also agreed with Asuna.
"Are you kidding me rose you know for sure that Rean just didn't want to come here, he probably fall asleep under a tree or something and now shon woke him up we should've sent Asuna to take care of it for good?" he said while the other two look at him with aversion look.
"Why is it that you still acting like a baby even when you're already 19th years old Mike", the last of the four a girl named Tess whispered to him, "you can tell Asuna is annoyed, she can seriously kill Rean when he will show up."
Mike finally agreed to stop adding fuel to fire and four continued to wait for the two, a couple of minutes had passed and the ceremony was about to begin soon, as Asuna looked to the distance two familiar figures were seen coming closer to the auditorium she ran towards them, Rean that saw girlfriend running towards him never know that is girlfriend showed any affection in public and thought that she wanted to hug him but then reality sank in, Asuna came in with a kick to the face and he fall to the ground.
"You moron you sure took your time!," she said while reaching out her hand to Rean.
While the four students laughed at the exchange between the two love birds their teacher came out of the door.
"What the hell are you six still doing outside, the principal is about to start his speech," the teacher said.
The six students walked inside the auditorium following their teacher while Asuna and Rean walked behind all of them.
"So Asuna, John is still on a mission?" Rean asked her, Asuna who looked at the stage said that he still hasn't contacted her and that maybe he can ask Leon to send a message to John.
Rean told her that Leon was busy with the ceremony and writing the speech and now at the beginning of the year he will be busy with the new students, the two continued to talk until Rose told them that the speech was over and they need to get to the class.
While in class the teacher dropped a bomb.
The final practical exam to determine who will get recognized as a mage and will finish school will happen in four months in the exam, the students will fight against monsters in the forest and the grades will be calculated by their performance.
To encourage team play the class will be divided into groups of three.
After class Rean, Shon, and Mike agreed to be on the same team while Asuna, Rose, and Tess also joined forces.
The six agreed to become the faces of the kingdom to protect and change the world, ever since the first day they joined the academy and became friends, that was their final test and they all agreed to pass it no matter who the enemy will be.
One more fight, one more test, and they'll start their real journey towards a brighter future.
