Chapter 6 - I'm Here

The first one to speak after my wife's little display was John Stewart. He asks me, "You won't join the UN. You're claiming so much power too. How are we supposed to sleep without worry if nothing tethers you?"

I raise an eyebrow and come up with a nice answer, "You can sleep without worry, because I am here. If anything, my presence on this planet is enough to deter most powerful forces in the universe. Even the forces of Apokolips will have to think twice and think hard before confronting me. As I do not lose in terms of war machine, generals, armies, or even raw power to them. So sleep tight Lantern, for the Elden Lord is here. Anything else?"

Antoine Toussaint recovers and continues, "I won't press the matter of joining the Un. An ambassador is already enough. As for your policies on foreign relations, law of the land here, and policies and visitors; I would at least like a quick rundown for now. I'll ask for the finer details after to your ambassador after he is picked out."

I give the man the rundown, "The isle is not open to any immigration. At least for now. Trespassers are banished and blacklisted at my discretion. Any criminal activities by trespassers are punished by my laws. Any trespasser that commits a crime worthy of the death sentence under my law, is immediately executed. There will be no extraditions. If I want someone on my isle, they will be invited or guided here. I do accept messengers and ambassadors like yourself with open arms though."

Antoine Toussaint looks satisfied with my answer, "Thank you for the rundown. Then I think it is time we take our leave back to the ship."

I bid them farewell, "Good, I'll will soon choose an ambassador. They will go with when you leave our waters. Enjoy your stay in my port until then. I do recommend that there are no wanderers in the isle though. This is a dangerous place with powerful wildlife and creatures."

Martian Manhunter spoke up before they started leaving, "One last question. Could I have an example of of a crime eliciting the death sentence?"

I smirk, "Very well. One example would be attacking me without a formal challenge. Another would be 1st and 2nd degree murder of more than 1 person under my rule."

He nods and turn to leaves. The others all do the same.

Martian Manhunter is a favorite character of mine. Strong, mature, wise, and honorable. It isn't shown as much, but also very intelligent.

"Now that they're gone, time to deal with some rats that came with their fleet.", I say with an evil grin.

Some rats from the League of Assassins, or Shadows. Whatever you want to call them. Rats from the Court of Owls. Finally, rats from Leviathan. The offshoot organization headed by Talia Al Ghul. They're just agents though. None of them are important characters. With that, my excitement died down.

However, this gives me an excuse to use some assets of mine. I couldn't just let them stay dead after all. They're skills are too good for that. The infamous Black Knife Assassins that killed Godwyn the Golden. The ones who caused the shattering. I resurrected them too, and bound them to me. They can not go against my orders or my will.

I summon the assassins through a read summon sign. They rise from it in a red light, then kneel to me.

I give out my orders, "There are rats on my isle, I've sent a mental image to you all. You know what they look like now, and where they are. Kill them for me. Go..."

With swiftness, the Black Knives left to do there bloody work.

I joke, "There was a saying, 'Why be a King if you can be a God?' I'll one-up whoever said that. Why be a God, if you can be an Elden Lord. Haha. The best of both words. Ordering death from a throne is a different sort of pleasure."

"Good thing I'm not a mortal anymore. Such power would indeed corrupt absolutely, if I was but a man."

A little short, but here you go.
