< "So you survived and hid the whole time." > Bente said and wanted to get up and jump at her.
But he couldn't because his legs were numb.
In fact, Bente could no longer feel them.
< "What have you done to me?" > Bente asked the old woman, screaming.
< "I didn't do anything. You were in such a shock that your legs went numb. But it should get better in a short time." >, the old woman replied.
<"How can you talk so calmly now that you know what happened?" > Bente asked with a horrified and sad expression.
The woman looked at him and said nothing, but she had a sad expression on her face.
< "Do you feel sorry? Or do you have remorse? Why didn't you have that with my sister? What did she do to you? She was just a little girl. She had her whole life ahead of her. Now you're standing here living out your last days while my sister is DEAD and doesn't have that chance anymore." >Bente mentioned, almost starting to cry.
Without commenting, she left and came back later when Bente had fallen asleep again and it was just me.
Due to my facial injury, I couldn't talk yet, but thanks to my particularly fast recovery, I was able to get up again and went out with the old woman and thanked her with gestures.
She told me < "You don't need to thank me, I owed the boy that. But no matter what I do, I will never be able to make it up to him." >
I made a questioning face, whereupon Grandma started to tell me what she meant.
She and I were sitting outside on a veranda overlooking a beautiful sunset.
< "I don't know how much you know, but this boy had a little sister who was often with us. He did too, but his sister was with us a bit more. My husband and I had finished with our lives. We wanted to end our lives here together because we had heard about a monster that would end everything and everyone. But before we met the monster, we came across the boy and his sister. They were still small children and their family was nowhere to be found. Of course, we couldn't just leave them there. When we took them in and looked after them, a few years passed and these children grew close to our hearts. We collected beautiful, scary, bad, special memories and they were almost like our biological children. We realized early on that they were not normal. The boy started to transform and we were scared at first, but we realized it was a gift he had and he was still the same as we knew. Then we expected the same from his sister, but she never gained any of those abilities. She was just normal. After a while, they were both quite a bit older and started to stand on their own two feet. They explored the island on their own and became stronger than ordinary children. The boy learned to control his powers and everything was normal. But one day the monster came and it surprised us. It was unusually quiet, as if it had planned it. The boy was outside and wanted to get something, according to him. When the monster came, it only took a few minutes for everything to happen. The monster destroyed our house and took us by surprise. We ran away, but you've seen for yourself how strong the monster is. Then my husband and I tried to fight the monster so that the girl could run away. But she refused and I think it happened because she had faced her fear at that moment, but she turned. She turned into my husband to be precise. My husband was the strongest of us and I think that just as unconsciously as she had transformed, she had also unconsciously transformed into my husband because she wanted to be as strong as him. But at that moment the monster attacked her, mistaking her for my husband, to get the strongest one out of the way. My husband threw himself in between and was badly injured and the girl was unharmed. But my husband couldn't continue fighting and I was separated from both of them. At that moment my husband said "protect the children" and pushed himself away from the poor girl. At that moment, my husband was eaten, but as he had lost consciousness beforehand, no sound came from him, then the girl ran to me and I ran to her, but the monster got her before I could reach her. She was then eaten and to the boy who saw it, it looked like my husband had sacrificed the girl and was then eaten himself.
I almost got caught by the monster, but when I saw the boy, I ran in the opposite direction to get it away from the boy. I didn't see the boy for a while after that. He was completely alone and had lost everyone. When I met him I just saw him saying to himself over and over again "I will kill the humans for what they did to my sister and kill the monster for killing my sister, I knew he blamed us. That's why I felt it was better to watch him from afar and keep an eye on him like I promised my husband. Now we're here and he still hates me." >Grandma told me in detail.
This story touched me deeply and I understood that Bente had a completely wrong view of the situation.
Bente was sitting in the background, hiding behind the door to the veranda and had overheard the whole story.
At first he thought she was just making excuses and telling lies, but he realized through the story that he had done her wrong.
Grandma blamed herself for years for something that wasn't her fault.
She also had to carry the burden alone, not knowing if Bente would ever find out the real story.
Bente went to bed without being noticed.
After a few days, Bente and I were fit again and wanted to set off.
Grandma was surprised why Bente had reacted so "sweetly" over the last few days when he should have hated her, but Bente just ignored her.
When we said goodbye and wanted to leave, she told us < " You're too weak. You want to defeat the monster, but you can't even hurt it. But I know how you can defeat it." >
< "Oh yeah? Then why haven't you defeated it yet, with this possibility?" > Bente asked provocatively.
< "Because I'm too old and too weak for it. I can only just use it, but you're different. Maybe you can use it. Because it's the only way to kill the monster." >, she muttered to herself.
Bente wanted to refuse because he just wanted to get away, but I asked curiously what this possibility she was talking about was.
Grandma explained to me that it was a power called "KIE".
< "The 'KIE' draws power directly from the sun. More specifically, from the sun's rays, thus increasing the power of attack and defense. It's a very complex subject, but if you want, I can teach you. But it's not easy to master, it took me two years to use it for just a short time." >Grandma offered us.
Curious, I asked < "Is it by any chance a bright aura that appears around the body when you use it?" >
< "Yes , that's how I was able to save you from the monster too. I used it to increase my speed many times over and save you there. It has many possible uses. But you need good control of the KIE and not everyone can do that just like that. But you could do it. If you succeed, you'll be able to defeat the monster." >, she said.
I immediately agreed.
My goal in coming to this island was to become stronger and gain better control over myself and my abilities.
So if this training is the key to that, then it's exactly what I was looking for.
Even though Bente just wanted to get away from Grandma, he also agreed to learn KIE because after the story, he had an even greater hatred for the monster and wanted to kill it at all costs.
So Bente and I started our training straight away and it should take up to two years.
So that Lubai's people wouldn't worry about me, I teleported a letter home and told them what had happened and that I probably wouldn't be returning for the next two years.
Thus began the hard work of learning the "KIE".
Surprisingly, it took me less than half a year to learn KIE.
To explain KIE in more detail < "The K stands for 'power' and refers to the strength that can be obtained from solar energy. It increases and boosts attack power. The I stands for "Immune" and refers to the resistance that can be obtained from solar energy. It forms a kind of armor around the user and protects him even more. The E stands for "Erahnung" and is responsible for the fact that you can perceive your surroundings through the sunlight, which always illuminates half of the earth's surface, without being able to see. When using KIE, it is important to know that the better you can control it, the more you can use it. The more you use it, the stronger the abilities described above become. So, theoretically, you can use the KIE to become stronger and stronger until you can use so much energy that the sun goes out due to the high drain. But as I said, this is theoretical. To go into more detail about KIE, let me explain exactly how the use of solar energy works. The solar energy, which is attracted by high concentration, has to be processed somehow. In the case of KIE, the solar energy becomes important in the area of the atoms. Roughly speaking, the body consists of several composite atoms. The KIE uses the solar energy by being attracted by concentration and then enclosing the atoms. I can use the solar energy in the "force" to enclose my atoms with it and press them more firmly together and strengthen them with the solar energy. This would make my body more solid and increase its attack power. With "immune" the atoms can be enclosed with solar energy, but in this case every single atom is enclosed, which makes your body work like a suspension. The more solar energy is used, the more it is "sprung", so to speak, and you can take much more damage without being affected by it. When "sensing", solar energy is described as a kind of net. One absorbs solar energy and spreads it to the body as far as the capacity is sufficient and thus senses the surroundings without seeing anything. There are an infinite number of ways to use this power, but this was the basis for understanding and using KIE. " >
Unlike me, it took Bente almost a year to learn the basics.
Just being able to hit harder and kick harder didn't sound good enough for me.
That's why I used the six months I waited for Bente, tried to improve my energy absorption and control and to develop and learn new techniques.
When we finished learning KIE after a year, Grandma was very surprised, but also very happy.
< "You can control the KIE well and maintain it for several hours. What I haven't managed to do in my whole life, you two have managed to do in six months to a year." >Grandma praised us.
That evening, we sat down together for what was probably our last dinner and talked about lots of things for a long time.
Among other things, I asked Grandma if she knew anything about a place called Luceli.
Startled, Grandma asked me how I knew this place, whereupon I told her about my mother.
Grandma got a smile on her face and went into another room to get something.
When she came back, she said < "You can get to Luceli Island by crossing this island and taking a stream of water that only leads from this island straight to Luceli. Someone is waiting for you there. But be warned. There will be a great responsibility on you if you take this path. You would have to risk everything. If you decide to go anyway, give this letter to the person you meet there. He will then know what to do." >
I thanked her for everything she had done for us and Bente and I said goodbye so that we could set off that very evening to get rid of the monster once and for all.
When we arrived at the open space at dawn, we didn't hesitate for a second and called out loudly for the monster.
It was just like a year ago, only this time the result would be different.
In a creepy and disgusting way, The Monster came out from between the trees on all fours and stopped in front of us.
It began to grin, as if it had been preparing for this moment.
< "I know you can do this on your own, that's why I'm not joining in here. This is a fight between you two." > I said and withdrew to watch the fight.
Bente and the monster then ran towards each other and the fight began.
It was a tough fight for Bente, but he was slightly ahead, but in the end when the monster was cornered, the monster grabbed his arm in his throat and pulled something out, gagging that it came from inside his stomach.
What he pulled out looked disgusting.
It looked like a human, with a bit of skin, bound and half corroded by stomach acid.
But it still seemed to be alive as it moved slightly.
Suddenly it spoke to us and said < " I can still say goodbye. I love you both, my sons." >
With this sentence, we realized that it was Grandma.
In a moment of realization, the monster threw what was left of Grandma in front of Bente and she died before his eyes, from the unbearable pain and the half-corroded body.
Full of hatred and rage, Bente attacked the monster, hitting it harder and harder.
Each of his blows became harder until the monster began to stagger and then fell on its back.
But the monster didn't know when to stop and laughed dirty to provoke Bente.
Bente formed a kind of sword with the KIE and cut the monster's belly open completely and cleanly.
Bente then tied up the monster, which was unable to move anyway.
The monster lay tied up on its back with its body slashed open, so that the creatures came out of the forest and ate the monster to death.
The monster felt its organs being eaten alive.
I don't know what it got out of it, but it looked at us with its disgusting smile while it was being eaten alive and laughed out loud, but this time it was a mixture of screaming and laughing as it was in incredible pain.
Bente and I stayed there until the official time of death and watched the monster.
When the monster had died, we went to Grandma's body and buried her in the middle of the open space, which is more or less where it all began.
< "It's time to go our separate ways now Bente, as I have to go back to Lubai. But perhaps you feel the same as I do and accept my offer. Bente, you've grown very close to my heart in the last year and I see you as my family, as a very good friend. I would like you to accompany me to Lubai, as there is nothing to keep you here. What do you say?" >, I asked Bente.
Bente smiled and answered me < "Of course I'm coming with you! What would you do without me?" >.
I was looking forward to his answer and said < "It's about time we saw the people from Lubai again." >
