"Hurry up we are going to be late!" was the scream that shook me out of my thoughts. How were we going to be late? We were just moving and I was certainly in no hurry. It's not like we had a deadline. I just decided to ignore Jesse as he continued to pester about how late it was getting. He had been cranky all morning. Maybe it was his resentment to the man we called Dad? Maybe his dislike for the new fiancee? Or perhaps he was just pissed at the ungodly hour that he had been forced out of bed at. Dad had woken him up and then proceeded to leave for our new home. He said it would be waiting for us there. Yeah, so would his piece of work fiancee.
"Charlie! Charlie! Peyton Charlie HURRY UP!" rang through our soon to be ex-house as Jesse's impatience grew with every passing minute.
"I'LL BE DOWN IN A MOMENT" I yelled back for the nth time. I know, I truly was dragging.
"YOU SAID THAT TEN MINUTES AGO!!"
"WHO ARE YOU TO PROCLAIM HOW LONG A MOMENT IS?!"
Silence.
I sat on my bed just as I heard wheels come to a screeching halt. I looked out the window. Nothing seemed out of place. Then a scream pierced through the house. That's where it all started. I'd never thought it would get this bad.
It had started with me. It was going to end with him.
