After two days of sleep, Ruby slowly drifted back to consciousness. Her body ached with exhaustion, the remnants of the intense labor still lingering in her limbs, but she also felt relief at being able to deliver her babies safely.
When her vision cleared, the first thing she saw was Matthew. He was sitting next to the bed, his body leaning forward slightly, cradling one of their newborn sons in his arms.
His face, usually cold and fierce, suddenly became soft and filled with tenderness. There was a hint of exhaustion in his eyes, but it made him look more handsome than ever.
"Shh ... don't cry, all right? Your mother needs more rest." Matthew murmured in his deep, soothing voice.
Despite his efforts to soothe the baby, the golden-haired boy still let out a faint sob, as if he wanted to wake his mother as soon as possible.
